everyone is of course free to post their own Top 10s -- that was another format I considered, but had doubts how many people would actually do it.

Not terribly helpful however for your next favorite guy in the polls



There is a prohibitive favorite this round. But #6 overall and onward is where there should be some real competition and lots of varied answers.

Voted Reggie Theus here and not because I knew him and hung out with #24 occasionally from time he arrived in Sac back in mid-1980s. Jerry Reynolds often says (and he's absolutely right) that Theus was one of toughest Kings of all-time. Look no further than we he broke his nose slamming into backboard base trying to block a shot off a fast break. I was at the game and recall it was very early in '86 season against Houston with Reg averaging 29 pts per game at the time. When I saw him next game with mask but was no worse for wear - itching to get back at it. Had 19,000+ pts, 6,000+ assists for his NBA career - majority compiled with Kings. One interesting tid bit. Reggie Theus is one of only two players in league history 6'6" or taller to tally more than 750 assists in NBA season (788 in 1985-86) - the other being Magic Johnson.

Reggie was ladies man for sure. But he was way more than playboy/pretty boy which was reputation I guess at the time. After all his girlfriend in Chicago during "Rush Street Reggie" days later ended up marrying Michael Jordan. Could go into bit more detail about this part I suppose and given some tid bits here over the years. One thing I haven't mentioned is what a cool mans man he was. The dude loved to hunt as much as chase women and long a very skilled archer. Hunted pheasants in Nor Cal back in day - with his Remington 1100 or Browning 725. Did big game bow hunting in Southern Africa as well. Never once saw him take a drink or use any illegal drugs. Sometimes I'd be out with him at usual Sac haunts of the time, Confetti's, Baxters, etc. and he would be in his track suit with no money, just drivers license. He drove a bright red Porsche Carrera or sometimes his black SUV. For Reg it was always "O.J. with ice" and I would end up paying for the drinks - unless it was on the house which it often was. I once joked to him that I was making only one-tenth what he was pulling in (with his salary 1.1M) and he just smiled and said, "I got you next time." He always did return the favor in one way or another.

I think Jerry also ranks him as the second most all around talented player in the Sac era,...with Richmond being first

I voted for Theus too... but I admit I'm just being a stubborn old ass. I love DMC - I really do. But to me he is still a recent comer and doesn't have a track record established for "all time first team" status yet, and I'm just resisting the herd on it. However, I would not fight someone who disagreed with me about it
