Kevin Martin re-signs (latest update)

So when does this contract extension start? Does the extension basically start at the end of the 07-08 season?
Yes. On Sportsline (so take it for what it is;) ) said something about negotiations starting at $43 mil. I also heard that the contract is something like $50 million (I wasn't sure that's the number I heard) with bonuses that could take it up to $55 mil. Anyway, some amount of bonusus are built into the $55 mil.

So howzat for accurate reporting?;) :p Sorry, I was distracted at the time I was listening.

I think they said $52 mil for 5 years with about $3 mil in bonuses possible.

How are we going to be way above the luxury tax next year? Aren't we going to be at about $67 million? Isn't the tax at about $65 million this season? It went up more than three million. I doubt, given the contracts we currently have, that we wind up being significantly over the tax threshold.
Assuming KMart starts at $9M next yr, we'll be around $75M next yr (using figures from hoopshype). Plus we have to sign our draft pick (around $2M to $5M assuming we land in the lottery), we'll be at around$10M over the luxury tax (assuming the cap is around $67M).

Perhaps Petrie is betting Ron Ron will opt out.

Kevin finishes his rookie contract next season, meaning he will make 1.8 mil. This extension goes into effect after that. If it eases your mind, that makes it, basically, 57 over 6 years. Whatever.
Hell, most of you thought he wouldn't even make it in the NBA anyway, yet here he is, and now we are discussing if he is 'worth' what the Kings are offering him. Keep on doubting, the guy thrives on that.:D
I went on record as believing in him when most did not. Was laughed at, ridiculed by many for my belief in him (not like he he will be an ALL STAR, or even a starter, blah, blah, blah) I will go on record now as saying that you have not seen the best this young man has to offer yet, that the time will come that most, if not all of the people who are now doubtful will be saying they knew all along that he was a bargain at what we got him for. As I have contended from the beginning, this kid is something special. Let's give him the opportunity to become what he can HERE, rather then spending the next 5 years lamenting his loss as some of you do Geralds.

Yeah, I guess you're right. My calculations were a bit rushed. Does anyone have the dollar figures on Martin's, Williams' and Moore's contracts for the 2008-09 season?
