Okay, I am going to pretend here that we have an actual front office, and look at this tactically.
1) on the one hand, Kevin Martin would be one of the last guys you would want to be hurt (if any of them were to be), because he's a young guy. He may or may not actually still be developing, but he is still establishing himself.
2) however on the other hand Kevin being gone for 4-6 weeks might be better than it being Brad or Ron, or whoever. The reason being that Kevin is going to be here (barring ridiculous Kobe trade or whatnot). So he's the bird in the hand. Now the vets...they may not. If you put Ron or Brad or those type guys down for 4-6 weeks they become virtually untradeable, and your options are limited. If its Kevin, well you weren't going to move him anyway. And meanwhile maybe you lose a few more games for draft position, and get one last look at whether Douby has a role in theis league -- mentioned a few games back that barring injury his role with us was done. Well, here was that injury.
Now of course back to reality, and reality being our front office has consistently been timid to the point of deer in headlights paralyzation. ANY excuse ot NOT do anything has been seized upon again and again while they wet their little beds from the stress. So if that pattern holds, Kevin being hurt will actually be yet another excuse NOT to do anything, because we are already shorthanded, and so how could we make a trade when we are already playing wiht less than a full deck (following of course the before season excuse that there was a new coach, and you had to see how he did, and the early seaosn excuse that guys were out, and so the team hadn't had a chance to play together, and the recent excuse that hey we were winning a few so you can't break that up, and...and...the key word here being "excuse".
