kingwin

Bench
any questions?

jj - 9 mins
outlaw - 9 mins
cus - 9 mins?????
thorton- 6min????

hahahha...this game was one of worst smart games ive seen and THAT IS SAYING A LOT.this game actually made me question myself as a fan.. i loved the lineup of it/douglas/outlaw/jj/ppat..my favorite play was the iso for outlaw on the wing...6 more games

Only team with a worse 2nd quarter point differential is the Bobcats.

That's a direct result of Smart's idiotic sub patterns which of course makes us battle up hill in just about every game.

Edit: Actually, we're back to being the worst after tonight. Bobcats were a +1 in the 2nd tonight while we were a -15.

wow, interesting factoid there! I'm wondering if we're in tank mode or something after seeing both Cousins and Thornton on the bench.

didnt watch the game due to being tired from work, did they really play only 6 minutes? lolol oh man! what a tool

I lay this whole season on the feet of the Maloofs. They extended Smart's contract last year and refused to fire him and announced that at the beginning of the season. Smart is Smart and is inadequate but that was not the primary reason the Maloofs hired him. He was cheap. Smart can't be anything other than what he is. Owners should be far more intelligent or monied than the Maloofs. We got stuck in a bad situation and it soon will be over in one way or the other.

Melding the ownership issues with the Maloofs inability to run an NBA team, I ALMOST would prefer following this team as the Sonics with a competent coach than as the Kings if the Maloofs are owners. I know that is not the issue facing the BoG and us but it merely explains what a useless season this was. It may even have hurt our ability to maintain our two most important players although I can see a situation where everything would be nice nice and that is if the team stays here with Ranadive at the head. He has powers to soothe the savage beast by being so freaking mellow that I have an incredible admiration for him. This is not a George Maloof and I believe he plus the potential of playing in a high tech arena might salvage this team BIG TIME.

Life as a Kings fan will take an abrupt shift within a month. In either case, the team will be better. I just think, knowing Ranadive superficially, that he brings more to the Kings and the NBA than just a bank book. Looking at the issues close to home, I can envision him chatting with Boogie and satisfying him. Let us remember that Boogie wants to be here in little old Sacramento. I think he could be encouraged to take his youthful boast to carry this team on his back out of the doldrums and not to abandon Sacramento and extend it to even something bigger. Are there any athletes out there who wouldn't want to play for Ranadive? How about playing for a team that has almost been selected by the rich of California to stay here? How about doing that in a state of the art arena? Something special could happen here and that something special might just simply be that we become a playoff bound team year after year like the Mavs and Lakers and perhaps go further as in winning it all. I doubt the latter but there is no telling what Sacramento may become despite the small minded NIMBY/CAVE people. :)

At this point I'm whatevs on it. The fact that Smart is THIS bad, but one can still make the argument that we've had WORSE coaches since RA left is ridiculous and makes me want to kick a Maloof in the balls.

This franchise has been a joke for almost a decade now, and its finally coming to an end.

The turnaround I'm expecting with new owners is going to be whiplash inducing and awesome (assuming all goes well and the Kings stay in Sac).

i herd svg is availible!!

Why do people remain fascinated by that guy?

Runs stupid smallball lineups wasting the overwhelming inside advantage he should have with a great big.

Pisses off franchise centers.

Stabbed Sacto in the back once already.

Notorious amongst players for freaking out and getting overexcited.

Sounds like a real match made in heaven with Cousins.

You've got the wrong Van Gundy brother.

maybe its because he made it to the finals with only d12 and some other bums and also d12 never wanted to be there, also d12 is a premadanna and he outcasted the coach, thats why svg got canned, it wasnt his fault dwight got him fired

What we need first, is a creative GM who understands that he already has particular building blocks on the team already and can hire a coach that can builld a system to fully utilize their strengths and establish roles among the team. We also need a competent scouting department that can scout role players that fit around the core players and effectively scout other teams. We also need an emphasis on player development in accordance to what we need them to be efficient at in conjuction with their particular role on the team. We need to be like the San Antonio Spurs, lol.

can u imagine svg and cousins going back and fourth in the media....i like mike browns plan with the lakers in sacto with eddie jordan...and i doubt jvg has been in broadcasting waiting for the sacramento kings opening..

i meant mike brown as head coach maybe bringing some defense? and eddie jordan running the princeton as assistant..

So... you're saying we need a front office.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that the main reason we don't have a functional front office is because the team was being undermined by the Mafreaks.

We need a modern fromt office, lol. I agree with you as well about the Clowns. Its their fault this organization is in shambles.

Keith Smart, in the last 2 games, has shown me exactly why he should not be a head coach in the NBA past this season. Why would you keep your best offensive players on the bench down 4 with a lot of time left in the game? Why would you then proceed, with about 3 minutes left in the game and facing a double digit deficit, put in your best player (Reke), thinking miracles do not only happen on the ice, but on the hardwood floor as well? Why would you? Oh, wait, I know why. Your name is Keith Smart.

I think his parents tried to play a practical joke on him and themselves, along with the rest of their family and friends, by naming him Keith Smart. They shoulda settled with Keith I Am Hecka Stupid. (NOTE: replace the ck in hecka with two l's, and that word would technically be more correct, I just did not wanna risk getting a warning, or getting banned, because of using a bad word)

Actually, now that I think about it, Keith Smart, in the last 2 games, has shown me exactly why he should have never been a head coach in the NBA to begin with. Oh wait, we was owned by them MaGoofballs...

I gave up on this particular complaint (Keith Smart as coach) LONG long ago.
Like 1 month into his coaching stint, if anyone remembers.

Also remember how many KF's gave Keith Smart a pass, saying, "He's fine - he just needs an entire offseason to work with the team and install his system" and "He's only this bad because he's taking over from the shambles that Westphal left him" etc etc etc.

It took little observational and deduction skills to see that Keith Smart simply does not have the capabilities to coach at the NBA level, and I called it 2 weeks into his reign (I jumped the gun, saying I'd give him a month IIRC).

We Kings fans did not have the luxury to give Keith Smart an entire extra season to show everyone inconclusively that he didn't have what it takes.
We should have been more impatient with the coaching debacle, after where Paul Westphal left us.

Now we have potentially squandered the entire future of this team, with Tyreke's situation and DMC right behind it.

We had THIS year (not next year) to prove to those 2 players that this team and area is worth playing for.

And I'm afraid we blew it.

yeah this year was so hard because i can prolly name about 5 - 8 games in my mind( i know theres a lot more) that we clearly lost just because his rotations...so i dont think we are that far off from playoff contention... imagine how quick we would fill that arena if we stay in sac and fight for playoffs next year..and knock that place down until moving in to arco arena lll( i hope)....ahh my dreams..

You talk like you have no idea that the Maloofs have been sabotaging this franchise for years in an attempt to poison the market and move the team for a profit.

Not sure if you've heard but our team is about to get bought by four of the richest men in California who will infuse a whole bunch of cash to create a winner.

I'm proud of you that you caught on to the coach's shortcomings so quickly. If you could only have caught on as quickly to your own inability to find the root of the problem, this franchise might have been saved. You had a year to do it, but you failed. Now we all lose and everything is horrible forever.

I love these "Look at me! I hated Smart from day one" posts.

You talk as if you were the only one. There were numerous here who weren't on board with the signing when it happened.

People remember if what you said actually meant something. You don't have to "remind" everyone. Blowing your own horn in an attempt to sound superior just makes people skip past your posts and to be quite honest, makes you annoying.

BTW, this wasn't in response to any particular post or person. If you're offended, it probably applied.

As far as Smart goes, I really don't know how he will ever get another coaching job in this league after our team. Aside from being an assistant, of course.
When we look back at his tenure, has he really done anything well? At all? Our offense has been great (scoring wise) these past 30 days but we still have a sub-500 record in that span. So, I really can't think of one positive from his tenure.

He's managed to annoy and pee me off pretty well. That has to count for something.

He stops in and does it regularly, regarding a number of topics. Funny thing is it's usually the same crap a number of posters brought up prior.

There were some who didn't want Smart from the start, some who turned on him by the end of the year and some who stuck by his side through about Dec/Jan. There's only one poster left who still supports Smart and supports him regularly but no point in naming names as it doesn't matter.

We all have our own opinions. It'll be great next year when we hopefully don't have to debate the freakin coach every night.

What I do however agree with Ifat1st about is what has it done to the prospect of keeping Reke and Cuz going forward. The hope is they both recognize and appreciate what a completely new regime can do, with a new arena on the horizon. This franchise can turn around and turn around quickly. However, I wouldn't blame either for wanting to get the hell out, especially Reke. When you completely screw up 2-3 years, key development years and turn our second best player into a role player who gets jerked around more than a kite in a hurricane and every mouthpiece in the organization acts like IT is the one and only centerpiece on this team, I can see why a change of scenery would be desired.

Smart wins the weirdest coach I've ever seen award. His rotations are bizarre. You could roll the dice for each player that goes into the game and it couldn't be less thoughtful than what I've seen from this coach.

We agree. There is always something that will unite us. :) He could play as many players as he wanted if he played his best players, let's call them starters so as not to make it complicated, over 35 minutes a game. That would be an improvement that would take no skill. I could handle that.

Has anyone noticed that the bump on Smart's forehead seems to be getting larger? I think it is caused by games like last night when the Gizzlies have lay-up drills against the Kings. Maybe Smart goes home and pounds his head against the wall?
