Kahn: T-Wolves taking Favors or Johnson at No. 4

Kahn talked about who they're looking at No. 4. "We like Wes Johnson. We also like a lot Derrick Favors," Kahn said. Dan asked if Favors was there at No. 4, would they take him. Kahn said yes, because that means Johnson is gone. Same answer if Johnson is available at No. 4.
Dan asked Kahn if Johnson and Favors were there, who would he take. "I've been very open and candid. But at this point, I don't have an answer to that," Kahn said. He seems very high on both players.
Kahn also talked about DeMarcus Cousins. He turned down their invitation to work out because his agent didn't see a spot in the frontcourt rotation.

Finally something to confirm our hunch. Look's like we have a good chance of DMC falling into our hands. I doubt Kahn is smart enough to actually pull off smokescreen in the first place.

Well... I just can't help but expect a very funky lottery tonight, and I am thinking the mocks will all be way off.

Something along the lines of :

1. Wall
2. Johnson
3. Cousins
4. Favors
5. Turner

Just an example ...

It still leaves open a possibility that he could trade the #4 pick for a player he likes. I think he takes Johnson. If Favors is there, he might think about moving the pick to a team like Detroit or GS who like the option of Favors or Cousins.

This has been the biggest hurdle the Kings have in getting Cousins for a few days. And made me curious why the Kings front office even tipped that Cousins was their man. Left them wide open to be jumped over. They could have stayed quiet or showed some more Monroe love and then GS would have waited.

I see several (maybe a lot) of draft time trades with Utah, Detroit and others wanting to move up and maybe a few teams moving down.

Here's the problem with having a GM as talkative as Kahn. This draft is a very good barometer of how to interpret anything he says in future drafts.

He's said quite clearly that there was almost no chance of the T'Wolves trading the pick. He's also hinted incredibly strongly that their pick will either be Johnson or Favors.

If things work out the way he's discussed, with the Wolves taking whoever is available at 4 (assuming the first two picks are Wall, Cousins and the third is either Favors or Johnson) then every team in the league now knows that Kahn tips his hand readily.

On the other hand, if they trade the pick, draft Cousins or otherwise do something unexpected then everyone knows that Kahn's comments are a smokescreen to hide his real intentions.

Either way, it makes you easy to read in the future which is never a good thing for a GM.

No way Turner slips that far. Minny has been in love with this guy and were crushed when they didn't get a top two pick. The surprise will only come if there are trades.

He wasn't an idiot for taking Rubio, he was an idiot for taking Flynn after him.
That's my opinion, too. Was kind of a smack in Rubio's face.

Even tho Cousins didn't work out for the Wolves, that isn't a barrier to Kahn taking him, if gets some kind of last minute desire for him. Rubio didn't work out for the Wolves last year.

Still a huge chance Kahn trades the #4 pick to a team that wants Cousins, imo. That leaves the Kings with a choice between Wes and Monroe, and I think the Kings really want to go big in this "big man draft."

But my hope is that they will take the talent (and a good fit with Tyreke) of Wes Johnson even though the Kings already have Greene, Casspi, and Garcia. The Kings need athletes and shooting just as much as they need beef. But beef is harder to come by. Anybody else hungry?

Go big by taking a big that doesn't really do anything big?
