According to Primera Hora Barea hopes to re-sign with Dallas, but if that doesn't happen he would like to join the knicks, Lakers, or Heat.

Barea said "I've heard about Sacramento, who have needs and are REAL INTERESTED."

He then said, "I guess Plan B would be Spain (in the event of a lockout), but I hope that doesn't happen."

Barea would be nice addition to solidify point guard spot, with Jimmer obvious back-up. Anyone that was part of kicking lackers @S$!

Seems like we'll overpay to bring him in. I very much doubt he will resign for Dallas. I guess we need some experience at the Guard positions but i dont have a good feeling about the price we'd pay to acquire him

I'd like to see Jimmer get pretty big minutes this season, and I want Thornton resigned. If we sign Barea, at least one of those 2 things won't happen. That, and we'd have to overpay for him. Pass

If were going to give him Beno money then i would have much rather kept Beno. Role players always get paid and i do not want to be the one who signs him up

I like barea a lot, and brought up going after him a while ago. The thing is, he's a backup, but a backup that deserves 15-20 mins a game. I just don't see the pairing working.

Barea/Jimmer, will get eaten alive on def
Barea/Thornton, will get eaten alive on def
Barea/Reke, better on def, but I'd rather have barea kicking to Jimmer or Thornton
Barea/Cisco, we should never see
Barea needs the rock. He's not as good off the ball, or at spreading the court as Jimmer and Thornton. So he'd be the one driving and creating. That means the worst person to put him on the floor with, and let him play his game next to is Reke, although they'd be the best def pairing by far, if considering pairings with barea on the floor.

I'd much rather have Barea kicking to Jimmer or Thornton, but really hate the possibility of what would happen at the other end of the court. You can't play Barea alongside anyone without getting slaughtered on def, except Reke, but Reke would probably be the worst guard on our team to put next to him. You'd either have 5'5" Barea standing in the corner, while Reke dances with the ball, or the reverse, with Barea trying to create, and Reke standing in the corner.

Sounds great until you break it down. If someone disagrees, I'd love to hear a well thought out response.

he'd be a solid addition in were already there competing. With our young team i feel the mins he'd need might be too much. If we added him we would have two very potent weapons coming off the bench though which does appeal to me in thornton and jose but thats without thinking about the above mentioned partnerships and guard pairings

+1.

GP showing interest in all these little score first dudes makes the Salmons trade seem even more Petrietarded.

What I think when it comes down to all these rumors... Its nice to finally be in the bidding war again at the very least. We went far too long without having our city even mentioned in free agent activities.

I like Barea but he's not an impact player or a player that will take a team to the next level. He was the 6th or 7th option on a very good team. on the Kings he'd be just another quick backup PG. They already have Jeter/Thomas for that role.

I think Barea was a backup in name only. He definitely was superior to Kidd in the playoffs. He would make a major impact on the Kings, in my view. His penetration and ability to dish would be a fantastic complement to the other players on this team. He's such a tough competitor. Playmaking ability is a huge need on this team and Barea definitely gives you that.

I don't think that the Kings should get Barea. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a very talented PG with a lot of skills, but I don't think it would be a good fit. Why? Barea needs the ball in his hands, just like Tyreke, Jimmer. We need a pass-first PG in my opinion, someone like Jason Kidd.

Hi I'm new by the way, have been following this forum for quite a while now. A Kings fan from Amsterdam, Holland!

Why do people think Cuban is going to let him go again after they just won the title?

And yes, Sacramento is interested -- just listen to our owners who apparently watched their very first basketball game this summer and were impressed about how shooting beat defense. As one fo the only players they know, of course they are going to be buzzing about Barea.

As an aside Jimmer's arrival should eliminate this possibility. You could call Barea/Evans something like Barea/Kidd and Brea/Thornton something like Barea/Terry...if you were kinda simple. But Barea/Jimmer = a very bad joke, and short of squishing Jimmer to the bench entirely, Barea is not going to want to sign wiht anybody as a 4th guard.

I would not call Barea/Evans anything like Barea/Kidd. Kidd and Evans are miles and miles and miles and miles and miles apart in what they do now. Their only similarity is their ability to defend and inability to shoot midrange shots.

both have the size to guard SGs and make a midget like Barea tenable was what I was aiming for.

I think you selling Barea a little short. In two of the playoff games against the Lakers, he almost singlehandedly destroyed them. I think Gasol was looking for a fly swatter at one point. He also plays much better defense than some are giving him credit for. His problem on defense of course is his height. It didn't hurt to have Chandler waiting in the shadows..

First of all, welcome. Secondly, I'd like to point out that any point guard worth his salt has the ball in his hands a lot. Steve Nash is a pass first point guard, and he has the ball in his hands more than any player on his team. Chris Paul has the ball in his hands most of the time. And for those who haven't watched Barea play, I'd call him closer to a pass first PG, than I would a shoot first PG. I've watched that little dude penetrate and dish so many times, and he makes it look easy. I'm not saying we should try and sign him, I'm just trying to give an accurate representation of him.

Not Rumor if it came out of his Mouth
