Jordan Hill

I've liked Hill for a long time. He's one of those guys thats not getting any press. I think he has a huge upside. I don't know if he worthy of being picked at #4, but one never knows. Five years from now we could be kicking ourselves for not drafting him.
 
Jordan Hill = Bust.

I think he's Chris Wilcox meets Mikki Moore at the next level.

He was so underwhelming whenever I watched him play at UA.
 
I think he'll be a solid pro .. He has some All-Star potential aswell. I like his game better than Thompsons game but I just dont see how we can justify drafting him while JT is on the roster.
 
Maybe Draft him and trade him plus Greene to Memphis for Rubio?

Other then that...I dunno. Methinks JT is going to have himself a beastly sophomore campaign, so drafting a PF not named Griffin may be kinda silly unless they're trade bait.
 
This is the rare time when I agree with Smills91. I think he'll be fine at the next level, just not anything really special, nor would he really be in consideration in the top 5 in another draft. He doesn't have Wilcox's athleticism or JT's skills. He's a big, strong, reasonably athletic 4. Maybe a more sane Etan Thomas or a less skilled Drew Gooden. More of a placeholder or a backup than someone who's got All Star potential.
 
I have seen a lot of Hill over the last few years and still haven't come to a conclusion on him yet. Everything he does well is countered by a weakness. He finishes well around the basket but his hands are terrible. He has a nice jumper and the quickness to face up yet he has terrible handles, which really hurts any prospect of a face up game. His post game is nothing special, but he has shown consistent improvement in this area over his college career. I just can't figure him out. I don't see him as a bust, because he can rebound, run the floor, and finish well enough to find a role, but I wonder if he can ever be the type of big you can feed on the offensive end.

hill barely started playing basketball when he was a junior in HS so he has alot of things to improve on ... and if it wasnt for hill arizona would have not made the tourney he carried them the whole year

I liked how he played against Love a couple years ago (although Love was able to push him around a lot) but he did do an OK job matching up.
 
Who DOESNT get pushed around by Love though? That dude's going to average at least 12 rpg if he gets starter minutes next season.

Boy I have to tell you, I just don't see the similarity between Hill and either Thomas or Wilcox. He has a completely different body type, and doesn't play as physically, especially on offense, that either one of them did in college. I think he's probably taller than either one of them, but we'll see at the combine.

At present, I don't think he's as strong as either one of them were when they came into the league. He's certainly stronger this year than last, and he's more skilled this year than last. But he has a long way to go to reach his potential ceiling. His only immediate contribution to any team would probably be rebounding and some shot blocking. Another plus is that he can play some center at times. But would have to get a lot stronger to play there on a regular basis. I like him. He's not a franchise player, but if we didn't have a PF already and we were drafting at number 10 or so, I would be happy drafting him.
 
Hill has plenty of upside, but as an Arizona fan I'm predicting that he'll be a fringe starter/solid bench player on a good team.

I'm pretty sure he won't be a bust, but I'm also sure he won't be scoring as much in the NBA his first few years - and he'll have foul/turnover problems as well.

In the grand scheme of things, he could be a (statistics-wise) Drew Gooden type of PF - good, but not great, with a few noticeable flaws here and there.

His size will also have a lot to do with his initial success as he definitely used that to his advantage in college - he came into Arizona listed as 6'8" (I remember reading this on goazcats.com when he was recruited). However, he could have snuck in a few inches over the last few years...
