Gruden and GM Bruce Allen out in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen after the team collapsed following a 9-3 start and failed to make the playoffs.

Gruden, who helped lead the Buccaneers to a victory over the Oakland Raiders in the Super Bowl in 2003, was Tampa Bay's coach for seven years before being dismissed Friday. Allen was general manager for the past five seasons.
You heard it here first: Mike Shanahan will be the Bucs new head coach and general manager. Expect an announcement within the next two weeks.

Considering what the Bucs gave up when they traded for Gruden ( Since when do teams trade coaches? The only reason I wasn't more surprised by that is that the Raiders were involved), I'm surprised that they would fire him this long after the season ended. I have to assume that it's because they have intentions to go in a different direction.

I believe you're right about Shanny. That's the only way this makes sense at this point in the game. And letting him GM again is probably a bad move. At the very least he should be in a BB/Pioli type setup where BB has final say but he still has a top level guy working by his side.

ESPN: Bucs hire Morris as new Head Coach

TAMPA, Fla. -- A day after abruptly firing Super Bowl winner Jon Gruden, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers introduced Raheem Morris as their new coach.
Morris takes over a team that won three division titles under his predecessor but hasn't won a playoff game since capturing the franchise's only NFL title in January 2003. The Gruden era ended with four consecutive losses that denied the Bucs a postseason spot following a 9-3 start.
"He's a leader, commands the respect of the team ... and his peers," team co-chairman Joel Glazer said.

Rest here..
