What the hell is wrong with the people who work for Maloof Sports Entertainment? GOLD???

As Padrino already graphically illustrated, there is already a team in the NBA whose official colors are PURPLE and GOLD (although their uniforms have always looked yellow, not gold, to me).

This is about as dumb as the Rupe the Hoop fiasco and the genius who thought handing out glowlights would be a good thing to do...

Are these people simply insane or are they actually working for Dr. Buss?

Another thing to think about - do you know anyone who would actually look good in light gold with purple trim? (Other than a runway model or someone working in one of the clubs in North Beach?)

I'm willing to bet that when this becomes common knowledge, Webber, Christie and the other Kings who are no longer in the fold may actually thank their lucky stars for being traded.

Are they going to change the name of the team to the Sacramento Wussies?

Sorry, 1kingzfan, but I have finally reached maximum absorption of idiotic decisions by management when it comes to shoving things down the fan's throats. Instead of arbitrarily deciding to go with a new color, why didn't they at least solicit fan input? Show us that they actually CARE about what we think instead of just counting on us to lay down our hard-earned $$$ for the new jerseys?

I am NOT going to get used it.

You see, I don't really care about uni colors becasue I don't buy jerseys, so for me it's "no harm, no foul". They coulda showed up in the lime greenies and I would still be OK (after some eyeball adjustments).

Yes, the name on the front not the name on the back works...

BUT the what's on the inside and not on the outside doesn't always follow.

Do you really want your team to look like circus performers? Did you laugh about the "trash can" jerseys of the Mavs? If you didn't, a LOT of people did. It brought ridicule to the team.

My main point is that MSE could very easily have gone to the fans to determine what the new jerseys would look like. It would have been a really nice gesture. Instead, they arbitrarily decided what the fans should spend their discretionary $$ on and I think it's wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong... and for the record? VERY few people actually look like anything other than circus performers, clowns or drag queens in gold. Honestly.

I'll have to see them before I can start ripping them. I think it sounds kind of cool. Of course, I also liked the grey Dallas uni's. I really did.

And if we need our jerseys to "look tough" or "defensive minded" then we're screwed. I say let em' go out there in the Pink jerseys and prove how tough they are!

Despite whatever they look like, I think the search for a new identity as typified by a change in uniform color should NOT have included the colors of the team we most despise, even IF the color of our uniforms is REALLY Gold, as opposed to yellow. It just looks bad.

I really hope this isn't true. All those obnoxious people who called us the Queens will really go crazy now if we show up in gold. Of all the colors out there, why that one? Our color is silver NOT gold. Whoever came up with this idea needs to move to LA, they'd fit in better there. They won't have to worry about me buying a gold jersey.

The Fandemonium tix arrived today with an invitation, printed in GOLD ink, with the very top of the invitation stating:

"Be the first to see the new Kings GOLD standard uniform"

Note the emphasis on "standard".

Should be an interesting revelation on October 8th.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but I've never been to a Fandemoneum. We just got tickets and I'm taking the kids so I was curious what exactly takes place there, can anyone help me out? It said fan interaction with the players, but is it for courtside seats or do they mean scream my lungs out from nose bleed section?

Just booted up the new NBA Live 06, and unfortunately, no gold (or any new) unis to be seen. I guess we're just gonna have to wait to see the real deal at Fandemonium. I'll try to bring a camera that day to get some shots of the new threads.

A bit off-topic, but it had to be said. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! The Kings are rated at 79 overall as a team (last year they were the highest rated team going into the season). Let's put this into perspective: the Blazers are rated at 79 as well. The Magic, Mavs, Warriors, CLIPPERS, and Knicks are rated higher than the Kings. What are these dummies doing with their time? Not watching basketball, for sure. Good game nonetheless, and I'm sure the ratings will be fixed in an update.

Didn't say i liked them. Obviously, the color could be different but i would guess the same design will still be there. I am just going on what every other team does with their "alternate" jersey. Basically the same but change the color. The Hawks, Hornets etc...

I'm going to share a dream I had the night before last:

I'm sitting in Arco with my dear friend Kingsgurl. (And interestingly enough, I'm sitting in 1kingzfan's seat ).

The lights dim, the crowd stands and roars with anticipation...

And then, as the loudspeakers begin to blare the new theme song for the team, here they come...

With brilliant gold lamé uniforms, old-fashioned high top sneakers (looking as though they were sprayed gold) and purple headbands with gold rhinestones forming crowns. They run to the center of the court and dance around...to the strains of "Macho Man."

Not to belabor the point, but I am a Kings fan to the bone. I LOVE THIS TEAM! If I'm thinking things like that, can you imagine what the Laker fans are going to be able to come up with?

If that is, in fact, the new uniform, I am going to start a campaign to overwhelm the Maloofs with emails, letters, etc. of protest. WTF are they thinnking? Those are ugly beyond belief, besides being - as has been pointed out several times - WAY too close to the Laker uniforms.

Geez... Anyone who would spend money on that crap is insane.

Anyone who attends Fandemonium should prepare signs that say "BRING BACK BLACK!" A chant might also be nice.
