Jennings Apologizes on Twitter!

One more thing, I went overboard about the Rubio thing, I was wrong for saying he's all hype that's not fair. I was wrong, I guess I just
wanna compete against the best. But off the court the kid is a great guy. I will never disrespect him, I just like too go against the best
All the lotterys PG's should say there the best PG in the draft. If somebody ask ricky if he's the best PG I hope he says he is.

Good move on his part. Personally, I didn't feel his original comments hindered his reputation, if Rubio is not on the board for us at #4, I hope GP takes Brandon Jennings.

Hope he takes an English class sometime.....

Good for him, although this whole draft prospect twittering thing makes me long for the old days when I didn't need to hear everyone's thoughts before they actually, you know, thought about them a bit more than 2 seconds. I'm already eagerly awaiting the inevitable time when twitter goes away (although what hideous monstrosity will take it's place?)

Might explain why he failed entry exam at Arizona :D

Wow, I post something positive about this kid and all people can point out is the negatives.....this IMO is a real good show that he can maintain his character and be mature at times.

And you don't even for a second think that his agent might have told him to pull his head in for a little while because him gobbing off will affect where he gets picked up in the draft?! ;)

Yes actually I did think about that, but if that were the case why would he put it on a Twitter and not come out and say it to the media?
Because in today's day and age everyone follows his twitter. Hell you see articles in the paper referring to player's twitter page.

This is the way I look at it. He dogs on Rubio to the Sacramaneto media. Then he carried on like a pork chop on his twitter when some people were having a crack at him for saying what he did about Rubio. At no time during that exchange did he come across as apologetic or remorseful about his comments. Then comes out with "I was just trying to spice up the Summer League" line to an apology. In the mean time, his agent is not returning calls to the media who are ringing about this only for BJ to update his twitter today with somewhat of an apology.

I am sorry but I have been around long enough to recognise a PR spin when I see one.

I have to say I agree, just more evidence that his comments are not honest, but all about trying to mold his image.

Wow just wow......You may be right or he may have just realized what he did was wrong. In the past he has written blogs about how nice of guy Rubio is or whatever. I myself believe that he meant the apology even if it came from his "agent".

The whole argument in defense of what Jennings said about Rubio was that he was just giving his honest opinion, when you look at what he has said in the past about him and look at his faulty reasons, then it was obvious that his intentions for saying it were to put him down to make himself look better. If it was just him getting carried away then he wouldn't have blatantly misrepresented the roma/joventut game.

Of course Jennings wants to face Rubio in a workout because he knows that his style of game has a huge advantage in those workouts over Rubio's. Doesn't prove who the better NBA 5-on-5 player is.

Actually all it really shows is that either he or someone around him is savvy enough to realize he overstepped with his initial comments. I don't mean to sound like Debbie Downer here, but the kid has an agent and that agent could be the spin doctor behind this latest tweet...

EDIT: Sorry, GW#3... I posted my reply before I read the rest of the thread. I applaud your enthusiasm about Jennings but some of us simply do not agree with it. That doesn't make either or us right ... or wrong. Public image is a very tricky thing and Jennings needs to learn that very quickly.

Part of your signature pretty much says it all. You agree with Jennings' take so I'm thinking it's easy to see why you'd be defending him.

I think the hard part for me about this is it looks like 100% political strategy to get Jennings name out there and higher on the draft board. You know how political "hardball" works... you can say ANYTHING AT ALL about anyone as long as you apologize about it a few days later... in the meantime, the damage is done regardless of the apology (see any election to see how this works) I, for one, am having a hard time being excited about Rubio because of this punks comments and that is not right; no apology will make up for the damage he caused.

Why? His reasons were complete drivel.

to me the apology is irrelevant, because his initial comment about rubio was enough to show his arrogance.

i actually feel like he would've been better served not apologizing. either be the competitive aggressive jerk, or be the professional; i don't like the flip-flopping.
