Look at my screen name....That's all you need to know about me.
Jason Williams is my favorite basketball player and athlete, EVER. I'm just 23 years old....Jason Williams inspired me to pick up a basketball (and sports for that matter) at age 11....I have countless memories and times that I cherish, thanks to J-Will.
I remember back during his three years here....He'd pull off another amazing pass, shot, or dribble move....As soon as the commercial break would hit, I'd sprint out to my driveway and emulate the moves. And after years of wanting to pull off the elbow pass in a game, I was able to do so in a pick-up game up at Sac State back when I was 19. I've never felt such elation on the basketball court. I felt like I finally was able to thank Jason for being the reason I fell in love with sports(Oh yeah, my teammate actually made his layup, unlike Raef Lafrentz haha).
As a 21 year old when he retired in 2008 due to the complications of his wifes' pregnancy, I have no problem admitting that I cried. Just like I cried as a 13 year old when Petrie traded him to the Grizzlies for Bibby.
Today though, I'm not. I feel like Jason has done everything he could despite his knee ailments. I always hoped he'd return for at least one season here to Sacramento, but with the impending relocation, this seems only fitting.
Thank you Jason. For everything.
