SACRAMENTO, CA ---- Sacramento Kings’ forward Jason Thompson will miss tonight’s game versus the San Antonio Spurs and Friday night’s contest versus the Phoenix Suns to attend a family funeral on the East Coast.

Hello Hilton Armstrong or will it be Kenny Thomas moving up from the depths to get some minutes.

Since JT will miss the next two games against San Antonio and Phoenix I suppose Coach W will be mixing and matching a lot to cover the different styles and challenges both those teams present.

Yeah IIRC reke said something about this on the half time of one of the last few games. I think he probably needs a bit of a break to deal with this and then hopefully he can come back refocused and we can get back the good old JT.

I wonder if this has been something that has a been and drawn out situation that MAYBE has taken some of Jason attention the last 3 weeks or so.

Jason Thompson still plays for us?

LULZ!

But all kidding aside. i've never been a fan of JT, even in college. but i hope this little break for him will clear his mind so he can come back and start playing like he was the first 30 or so games this season

Since I have lost several family members, no offense, but this isn't a good time to clear your head.

My first thought was the exact same as yours Rockmeister. After further consideration however, I think I disagree with you (and my instincts for that matter).

For example: My grandfather died when I was around JT's age and his funeral sort of invigorated (this is a poor choice of words, but whatever) me. I had a new found thirst for life and committing myself 100% to what I loved. I was better focused toward living life to the fullest.

I don't agree with the original poster saying it may be good for him (in reference to relaxing), but I do agree with the idea that we may see a different JT when he comes back. He is still very impressionable and maybe, in a round about way, this will help him focus. Or at least I hope so. I think he could be a star if he learned to focus his energy toward something more productive than fouling/taking it out on the refs :-\.

I don't think we should be all yippee! here -- its going to give Jason a chance to reset! Yay! He lost someone. That's not a yippee matter. But I did have the same thought. A little break, no matter the source, might actually help him. I don't think that's a great sign BTW -- you have to be mentally tougher than that in the NBA. But this thing has gone on so stupidly long at this point that its becoming evident he really might not be able to work it out on the court, and frankly getting squished by Tim Duncan and Dejuan Blair probably wasn't going to help matters much.

Ditto.

My condolences to Jason and his family.
