Jason Kapono, anyone?

The 76ers are open to trading swingman Jason Kapono, reports ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
Stein writes that the Clippers and Kings could have interest in Kapono's three-point shooting ability.

Kings could trade a pick for this guy; the Kings have enough cap space to take him back without returning any salary. Not sure what the 6ers would want for him, though... Don Sloan? Darnell Jackson? A future 2nd round Miluwakee draft pick?

If we are able to turn Brockman into a 6.6 million expiring contract as well as a player that fills a need on this team, I would be in full support. Not sure what all the sixers would want in return but hopefully a future pick + the cap relief would be suffient. The free agent market is drying up quickly (if it hasnt already) and there are not many players available that fit our exact needs.

This guy seems like, should be well liked by the Kings, but who would Philly want? Beno? JT? Donte? The Kings do not have a lot of players left to deal with.

I think our interest would be limited to taking his contract off Philly's hands, along with some cash to defray part of the cost. I don't know whether Philly's looking for something like that, but no way can I see the Kings giving up an asset.

I agree with this. If Philly is just trying to unload his salary I'd certainly throw in a future second round pick. But I'm not going to give up any of our core players to get him. They're welcome to Jackson though..

If Chapu = Noc here, then no, I don't think he is. He's extremely limited. Basically a three point shot on legs. Wobbly white legs. Nocioni is a >> better overall player. But Kapono could fill a distinct role/niche we need filled about as well as anybody. In his very limted roleplaying field, he is one of the top guys. You just have to have a roster that needs his particular skill and can set him up all night for open looks, and one that can cover for all those other things he doesn't do.

He's a career 44% 3-point shooter. So I'd say he has at least one basketball skill. He CAN shoot the long ball...

Everything I heard points to the Kings wanting to spend close to the minimum for a player and that they want guys who can shoot and do other things...seems they are uninterested in one dimensional players.

Everything I heard points to the Kings wanting to spend close to the minimum for a player and that they want guys who can shoot and do other things...seems they are uninterested in one dimensional players.

Roger Mason Jr. comes to mind. Getting him a one year deal in the 4-5 million range brings the Kings up past the minimum payroll threshold and gets us a guy that shoot, handle ball and being a threat to getting to the rack.
