That's assuming he actually shows he deserves that amount of $$$. More likely than not, he won't - but if he does and we don't want to put up the $$$, a sign and trade is always a good option. Very few teams have the cap room (and willingness) to take on a max contract. And nobody can offer as much $$$ as the Kings can, because of Bird Rights. So it would still be in Peja's best interest to work out a S&T with the Kings because that would get him the best deal, and potentially a deal with a team/city that he would like to join.
Now, if he wants to renew for cheap (in the 8 to 10 million range), I'd say GO FOR IT!!!
