The Pacers reportedly have discussed a trade with Toronto that would send Jermaine O’Neal to the Raptors for a package that would include the No. 1 pick.

The Pacers, according to Mark Murphy, would likely take Adam Morrison.

Indiana may also be talking with the Timberwolves about a Jamaal Tinsley-for-Ricky Davis deal. -

Someone also said that a CV+No.1 for JO+No.17 was also rumored. How true it is anyone's guess though.

I don't know if I do this if i'm the Raptors. Haven't decided yet.

Thoughts?!

Interesting rumor. In general I disagree with trading away a superstar for even a number one draftpick. I really like Morrison and I think Indy is just the enviorment that he could flourish in so I can see it.

If Chaps is right it's JO for Adam Morrison + Charlie Villanueva (not so bad). For the Raps it could be a great deal if they get someone good with the 17, but otherwise that's a lot of talent to give up for an older guy, although Bosh-O'Neal would be pretty damn good. Very tough call from either side.

A ridiculous rumor on many levels. The only connection being the Morrison comparison to Bird. Why the Raptors and not the Bulls or Charlotte? Morrison could play next to O’Neal.

O'Neal and Bosh would be a tantalizing duo, but they also play the same position. Both have spent time at the 5, but are natural Forwards. I can see why Toronto would do it, even though there could be potential problems, but not sure why Indy would. Where does that leave Peja, who's also received his share of Bird comparisons? A sign-and-trade with Chicago could possibly net them the number 2 pick, without giving up O'Neal. Not even sure Toronto would have the contracts unless they give up half their roster.

Walsh loves young bigs, he wanted Frye, I think wanted Bynum, and he'd definitely draft Aldridge or Tyrus Thomas.

Especially if they're letting JO go. I'd be surprised if they drafted Morrison with #1, if they do that deal.

Pros and Cons for Toronto regarding trading the No.1 pick in a package for JO.

I can honestly convince myself of any of the two sides but still don't know which one I want. Though I am starting to lean on not accepting the trade if im Colangelo.

Pros:

-Proven all-star talent. Any draft pick might always bust. But Jermaine has proven himself to being one of the game's elite big men. He's not a real 5 but has shown that he can play there. A 4-5 combo of Bosh and JO would be the league's most talented, no doubt. With no unanimous number 1 pick this year, this draft pick has less value than it would normally have any other year. If someone is willing to trade you his all-star for it, you do it.

Cons:

-Where do I start... It would instantly kill the team's cap room. Unabling them to sign future FAs. Jermaine is 28, and the Raptors are a long-term project. For a team that's rebuilding like the Raps, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to trade their pick and a great young player(Villanueva) for a 10-year vet in his prime. His natural position is the same as the franchise player. Does he want to come to Toronto? The last thing the Raps want is another disgruntled all-star, a la VC, that's dogging it because he desperately wants out. The raptors have way too many holes to trade for J.O who plays a very similar game to Bosh. He's also been very consistantly injury prone over the years.

O'Neal would. Which is why I don't think it goes down, JO doesn't like to play center. He also wouldn't have a banger next to him, Bosh is a good rebounder, but not a battler like Mohammed/Wright/Chandler/Pryzbilla are.

He's not a rebounding battler like who?

They're bangers/battlers down low, unlike Bosh. Who doesn't have the frame or strength to do that, he even said he wants a banger to help him. As he has no guy on his team like that. As JO a similar thing a couple months ago, then just recently. He doesn't like playing center, didn't really mention Foster or Pollard/Harrison, but said he can't do it all on his own down low.

Just what I've read from quotes and articles recently.

SO let me see if I have this straight:

1) draft Danny Granger
2) trade Ron Artest for Peja
3) trade Jermaine O'Neal for Adam Morrison (+maybe Villanueva?)
4) trade Jamaal Tinsley for Rickey Davis

End result have a team composed of 50% SFs?

Why would Toronto due this trade, they have Chris Bosh as their forward/center. I think O'neal is overrated anyway.
Uh...

Why WOULDN'T they? A SECOND 6'11" 20 and 10 guy on the frontcourt gives them a great shot at the playoffs next year.

Sure, why not? That's what the Hawks are doing and it's working wonders for them.

Er, nevermind.

Hawks need a PF and a vet., KT would fit in great there. ;)

We get one of Josh Smith/Childress and Lue back as we send them Hart or Potapenko with KT.

O'Neal wouldn't want to play center, but you still gotta go after this if you're the Raps.
He doesn't want to, but he would.

I think he would be just fine with playing next to Bosh anyhow. I think he just wants to play next to a bigman who can take the heat off him in any way, shape, or form.... Jeff Foster just doesn't cut it come playoff time.

Ricky D/DannyG can play SG can't they? peja and adam morrison man the sf position and charlie V to play PF. looks pretty good to me. a good combination of athleticism and shooting and a young stud in charlie v.

You get into a real mushy area there playing almost everybody out of position and everybody wanting the ball to be effective.
