my friend who is a blazers fan told me before the season started, that the kings would fail because of reef'.....i didnt believe him....dont get me wrong, he is playing good, but im starting to believe it...he went to the blazers, a team who had made the playoffs i believe 22 years straight until he got there......his team was horrible in atlanta...and now look at the kings.....

It's not as if either the Grizzlies, Hawks or Blazers got better after he left. The Grizzlies continued to suck for two years after he left, and only got better after they overhauled the entire team and got a new coach.

Reef isn't a curse, but my hypothesis that he is a guy who simply doesn't make you any better is alive and well.

So, tell me this - does the "Curse of SAR" supercede the "Indian Burial Ground Curse" or add to it?

Okay I guess I get to say more... he's one of the few players seemingly doing well consistently and we get a thread about his curse..... just seems like a little unwarranted to call it a curse - especially since as was already aptly said it sure doesnt seem like any of his former teams became "blessed" upon Reef's departure....

it just seems so "wrong"..... (ya got that the phrase was in a slang sense of wrong, not in a "right or wrong" sense, right);)

He's not doing what a PF should-rebounding.

There have been rumors of a "curse" that follows SAR. There are also rumors about Big Foot. Take either or both for what you think they're worth.

;)

You're kidding, right? Bonzi and Reef are about the ONLY bright spots to even think about right now, and you're going to quibble about some rebounds? No, SAR isn't perfect at the PF slot, but he's sure doing a lot more for the team than about 11 other guys I could name.

I say he should start rebounding and then I get bashed? The heck.

Oh, grasshopper. If you think that's bashing, you have much to learn...

So very much to learn.

Nah I knew it wasn't bashing, the bashing comment was a stupid comment on my part.

Anyways, SAR is solid, but if we have a chance to upgrade than DO IT BY ALL MEANS.

He doesn't really do much to help the flow of the offense, but I would say that losing is anymore his fault than anybody else besides maybe Bibby and definitely Bonzi.

You know, I thought of making a similar post. Call me superstitious, but I think he may be carrying some bad juju on him. No team he's ever played for had any success (at least on the NBA level as far as I'm aware). Of course most of this isn't his fault. I think he's one of the brighter spots (playing well) on the team. So I'm not sure what to think.

The guy puts up 25 pts in the scoreboard and your telling me he's a curse? please... And you heard this from a Blazers fan. Wow I would love to see this team even try to win a game without Reef. Sadly, Reef and Bonzi look like the players who have been in this team the longest and are the most consistent each night. Bibby and Peja look like they are new to this team and dont know the system...

Yea but you really cant blame Reef in any way respectively. He has done what he is brought here to do. Thats play decent defense and score inside/outside the paint. I dont see anything that he has done to hurt the team. IMO I think we should run the offense through Reef. He has shown the ability to pass much like Webb did in SAC and he also could hit that mid range shot which makes him even more dangerous. He can also run that pick and roll with Bibby. I think if you utilize Reef up to his abilty he could be better then 04-05 C-Webb. I mean just look at Reef's stats and Webbs. Reef scores about 15 pts in 34 min with 54% FG and 4 assists. Compare that with Webb's 19 pts in 40 min with 42% FG and 3 assists. And so far the interesting thing is that Shareef isnt even a 1rst or 2nd option so that shows you his effeciency.

I bolded the stuff that seems VERY, VERY, WRONG.

1. He was brought here to play decent defense?
Wow...just wow

2. He's passing like Webber... than how come the game we're playing looks hecka fugly and we're not winning?

3. He can run the pick and roll with Mike?
Well he could, he just wouldn't be very good at it. His body is too small to be great at setting good picks an screens. Was drafted as an SF.

4. He's better than 04-05 webber?
That's funny, because at one point in 05 we were like 30-13 before the webber trade, and we had a vocal leader. A guy who wanted to step up and rebound and pass... not to mention princeton O makes PF's APG go up.

The offense will come imo.... The real problem is our defense which is soft like a sponge. We can't get any stops at all, which negates anything we do on offense. When we aren't hot (which seems more often than not lately, the opposing team will keep pouring it in. We don't intimidate any team in this league.

Our problems have absolutely nothing to do with Abdur Rahim. (But the "curse" concept is pretty funny.)
