As the first games of the 2008-2009 NBA season tip off this evening, we're at the beginning of another journey. For some, it's a journey we've been on many times before. For others, it's not quite as familiar. Either way, by the end of the trip we'll all be seasoned travelers.
Our coach enters his second year with a lot of potential on his roster but some serious questions about how well the various players will meld together and what kind of rotations he (Theus) and his staff will come up with, especially during the first few games when Brad Miller is serving a suspension, Garcia is out with injury, and Douby is also doubtful.
Our team is getting younger. Yes, we still have Kenny Thomas, Brad Miller and the loveable Bobby Jackson, but we also have youth. We have Donte Greene, Jason Thompson and Bobby Brown - all of whom have athleticism and speed. We'll just have to wait and see if they can harness their personal strengths into team assets.
We have regular features here at Kingsfans.com for those wanting to follow the game, discuss the game, or analyze the game after the fact.
Our game discussion threads are a lot of things, but they're never boring. The intriductions by piksi may appear ascerbic or even sarcastic, but there's an underlying love of the Kings that shows through if you look hard enough.
Our play-by-play threads are a way for people to follow the game with a narrative by one of our resident Kings homers (me). I do not claim to be totally unbiased. I try to be fair, however, and I do try to add in the occasional comment you won't get from Grant, Jerry or even Gary Gerould.
Our grade threads by Bricklayer are always interesting. You may not agree with his assessments but he gives good reasons for the grades and if you're going to disagree you'd better be ready to do the same.
Kingsfans.com is a family-oriented board whose members share a love of the game of basketball. For most of us, that love extends to the Sacramento Kings although we do have members who unfortunately haven't seen the light and still root for teams like the one from LA and even Dallas. Fans of all teams are welcome to join in, provided they remember this is a Kings board and act accordingly.
It's time for another season of Kings basketball. Pull up your chair, get settled and get ready for the fun!
GO KINGS!!!
