Its all about the summer..

Hi guys,

As we have reached the last 3rd of this season its quite obvious into which direction this team is going to which is a good one.
We have seen some great performances and some really terrible ones but in total i personally am satisfied since i didnt expect too much.

For me it somehow feels that the last 3rd of the season is a last chance to gain confidence and understand the role of each and every player in this organisation.
The more important point will be that the players will recognice that they will need to work damn hard this summer to improve the deficits they all have.

Starting with Reke´s shot going on to Casspi´s non existing D and so on and so on.

I just hope that the players will still be hungry to invest the required time and efforts and wont think that the summer vacation is just for regeneration.

I am already very excited about the next season! (I know its too early)

Greets,

Ed.

!GO KINGS!

Reke should be practicing grabbing as many rebounds as humanly possible to average 20/5/5. ;)

When the season ends, he can start on the jumpers.

Why not do both? :D

Adding a consistent jumpshot = automatic superstardom. I think we can all agree on that. My only fear is that, if he does develop that part of his game, will he fall in love with it and rely on it? I certainly hope not.

But we can cross that bridge when we get to it. I agree that this summer is equally as big or at least almost as big for us as it was last summer, in terms of making the necessary additions and subtractions through trades, free agency and of course the draft.

reke and greene need to work out together see if a towering back court would shatter the opposing team :D

That's a fear of mine as well, but hopefully he still realizes that he can get to the rack first with ease and use jumpers to keep dudes honest.

The best thing about the upcoming summer to me is for the first time in awhile the team has a new direction. We as fans do not have to sit back and read about moves that don't make sense or don't help, we know we have a young core of potential stars. These guys just gotta work hard because the frame work for them of them is there(Reke and Greene).

Casspi is just tired, he was a good defender at the start of the season, now it's all about his lack of anergy

this summer he promised to go to the Israeli national campaign so he'll have time to play but probably not to develop his game by practices, hope they will give him some rest

Donte is not a Guard....not in any stretch of the imagination. He's a natural 3....period.
And yet he has had some very effective stretches at SG as well + shown some ability to bring it up. I do think he's obviously a natural three, but it certianly couldn't hurt to explore his ability to play some SG. The mistmatches would be destructive. Players in the Detlef Shrempf/Toni Kuckoc/Hedo/Peja big Euro softie mold have been abel to do it at 6'10" to 6'11". So could guys like Lamar Odom and Derrick McKey, so its not like its totally unprecedented.

Boy am I looking forward to Summer League THIS year: Tyreke, Omri, Donte, Brockman, McGuire, Dorsey and maybe even Landry. Plus a draft choice or two and some FA's. Sure they need rest but season over for Kings mid-april and Summer League doesn't start usually until mid-July.

I agree Omri is tired, no question. Tyreke has pushed thru the "wall" but he is tired as well. So with 3 months rest then summer league followed by two more months of rest, they should be in top shape for training camp. I hope Omri doesn't have to play for national team this year.

You will not see Tyreke, Omri, Donte or Landry in the summer league. Omri has already said he will play for his national team, the World Championships are in Istanbul in August. Why wouldn't you want him to play?

I've argued this elsewhere I don't know why there is such a backlash against Donte as a SG on this board. He has shown the physical ability to defend the shooting guard (ask Kobe) which I think is the bbiggest hurdle to him playing there.

As for the other stuff...

people complain about his handling but he actually brings the ball up for us occasionally even with Tyreke and or Beno on the court. His ball handling is just as good as many of the shooting guards in the league. Now he isn't a combo 1/2 like Beno or Garcia and some people think we need that next to Tyreke so i can see that angle.

His shooting is streaky at the moment but the form is there. I don't see it as being something that couldn't be a strength.

Basically his decision making is his biggest problem with playing shooting guard... but that is a problem playing small forward as well.

I just think the potential of Donte and Tyreke in the backcourt is incredible and i don't really see any huge downside that can't be fixed with soem hard offseason work. Look at how far Donte came from last year where he looked completely lost, do we really think he can't become a little better ball handler and improve his decision making?

If we're gonna go the versitality route with Donte, I myself prefer the 2/3 for him as apposed to the 3/4 as well. That is a big ole backcourt. Reke/Beno seem to play well together though, so (at least for the immeadiate future) I like Donte coming off the bench as our G/F.

As far as this summer, once again I'm looking foward to the draft. If we can get either Cousins or Aldrich our frontcourt is boosted majorly. Leaning towards Cousins of course, dude has 20/12 potential, but Aldrich would be good too if we dont get a top 3 pick (which is probably where Cousins is going).

How about the fact that he could get injured? Or that he's already tired and playing during the summer is going to make him tired next year.
