Is Tyreke better or worse since his rookie year?

I think Kingsguy was being sarcastic. Now, back to the topic at hand...

;)

Tyreke set an almost impossibly high mark for himself his first year. He has been asked to play a lot of different roles and he had the weight of the franchise on his young, rookie shoulders. I don't think comparing him to his rookie year tells anything. The better comparison will, I believe, come once the team has equalled out their home games and had adequate practice time on their home floor. I'll be looking to compare how he's doing then to how he's done the first part of the year.

Well, gee, of course. Let's let the the season end before we judge. The first part of the season has been rough and we all knew it would be. Add all the other factors and it actually doesn't sem fair to make some grand determination about Reke. There are a lot of players not playing as well as they did two years ago. I can't shake it that the fact they are a team and the team is sucking that this engulfs Tyreke. Why we isolate him may be that we thought one guy could overcome the failure of the rest of the team and the coach.

... and SOLID NBA coaching to get these guys to understand a defensive system.

I do not believe that Smart has a defensive system, and I have zero confidence of him or his assistant coaches to teach defensive concepts at the NBA level.

It's not just Smart, here - the assistant coaches have been with this team for YEARS and the players still can't defend their man or NBA plays (screens, pick-and-rolls, etc).

If KF's want DEFENSE, they cannot expect THIS coaching squad to teach it to the Kings.
I disagree. I think this coaching staff can hang right there with the best. The material re: players they have limit them but it's all coming along.

His official title had nothing to do with coaching and, BTW, why is this important? :)

Yeah I was being sarcastic. I reserve judgment on anything in regards to this season until it's over. It's kind of a wasted season when you think about it. Just a big old learning experience. For Tyreke most of all, because he finally has a coach that is trying to teach him something.

Is Evans better or worse than in his fookie season?

Interesting question but doe it make any difference what answer I give? It doesn't change what he doing for us now. He's good and maybe the coaching staff will make even better by finding our best combos on the floor. Only way to do it is by trying changes. Certainly I don't expect the coaches to give much weight to my thoughts even thought they are inspired. We are making progress.

Logically I agree with you but sometime after a tough lost and losing badly earlier in the season, emotion can get the better of me.

If the players are learning it isnt an entire waste. Now those 2 years under Worstphail on the other hand....

The only aspect of Tyreke's individual game that has improved is his set shooting. His freethrow percentage is now a respectable 79%. And, when he's wide open, he uses that form on his three pointers.

I have seen him do a better job guarding point guards, but effort varies from night to night and quarter to quarter.

I also do think that he has been executing set plays better than in the past. So that's the positive change, but I feel he's mostly stagnated, and teams have scouted him better.
