Is it time to root for lins yet?

I know I have been for a couple weeks now.

Let's face it - the Kings terrible performances thus far, and their super-tough upcoming schedule pretty much guarantees them a crappy record this year.

So why all the negativity when they lose? (especially to other crappy teams)

Most people knew the Kings were not going to get into the playoffs this year - yes, there was a glimmer of a chance they could catch lightning in a bottle and everything would gel earlier than expected, but come on - let's be honest - a winning season was not likely.

So if we knew in our hearts going in that the Kings were going to have a losing record - why all the wailing and gnashing of teeth when we lose?

Every loss to the Warriors, Nets, etc is a double-lin in the draft race.

The Warriors game was a pretty darn good game to watch, if the focus is on Linning : the Kings showed the were the better team, had the better players and they have a much better salary structure for future seasons.

Simply ignore the absurd turnovers and mistakes in the 4th qtr, assume they are tanking (at the very least) partially deliberately and it was a great game.
I refuse to believe Tyreke and co (cousins excepted) could be THAT clueless and mistake-prone unless they were OK with linning.

I say, break out the tank pics, sprinkle threads with them liberally, and ride out the season, focusing on the positive developments.
Wait for next offseason, with a solid draft pick, more experience, some free-agent moves under the new collective bargaining agreement (assuming they aren't locked out with labor strife).

Yes, the obvious danger is that the Kings support base becomes so thin that it aggravates the forces moving them out of Sacramento - but hasn't that ship sailed already?

Golden State was missing Biedrins and Curry, and Udoh is just barely rounding into shape. While the Warriors really are pretty bad, they seem to have committed new ownership, and, when healthy, significantly better talent.

Even if you're going for "lins" -- and I think it's reasonable to do so, by the way -- I think they'll be better than the Kings next year, too. Sorry to (partially) burst your bubble.

If that's going to be their tactic, I think the Kings are about six "linning" seasons from success. Why would you buy tickets for that?

First of all, players are never ok with lins. It's the organization and coaches that orchestrate it by playing inexperienced/bad lineups.

Second of all, unless there's a once-in-a-generation, franchise-changing player in the next draft (which I don't think there is), lins will always do more harm than good, as they instill a losing mentality in the players and a losing culture in the franchise. Our current team is a perfect example of how a tank job (or just sacrificing wins in favor of padding one player's stats, depending on how you want to look at it) carries over to the next season and leaves mental scars on the players and franchise.

At this point they're in such a big hole that even if they make some improvement and go, say, 15 and 41 for the rest of the season, they still end up with only 20 wins, which is in all likelihood a top 4 pick. Even if they go 20 and 36 from here on out, that’s still only 25 wins, same as last year and probably a top 5 pick. I don’t think we really need to root for lins, this team in top 5 pick bound. It’s pretty much guaranteed at this point.

On the other hand, if they got their act together big time and went say, 28 and 28 for the rest of the season, that would really be exciting and show that this team was becoming the team we hoped they’d be. Of course if they did that, the 33 wins they’d finish with would have them picking about 10th but I think I’d honestly rather see that happen than continue to suck this bad for the rest of the season. It isn’t good for the players psyche, the fans psyche, or the team’s chances of staying in Sacramento.

I thought lins are what they've been going for the whole time. Watching yesterday's game I am pretty sure we are trying to lin. We're damn good at it, that's for sure.

I mean, seriously, just how stupid was that? Scale of 1-10
If The King's had a winning record, it would be about a 3 or a 4. When you're 5 and 20, it's a 10. I don't actually think DMC is a stupid person or stupid player, he's just very impetuous and being impetuous can lead to stupid/embarrassing situations sometimes.

Generally couldn't care what Golden State fans are thinking of our team.

Would rather we just learnt how to see out a game!

I say we need to root for wins because right now it's looking like we could end up with a new record for fewest wins over the season (I think the sixers with 9 wins?)

I'd rather root for a high draft pick, but with the Kings bad history and all...it just doesn't seem that we will get the bounce of the "ball" so to say.

This team is so bad we don't need to 'root' for lins, they'll come naturally. Top 4 here we come again! :(

My attitude as well.

It was all well and good when we had a bunch of lazy vets on the team. But now that we have a pretty solid core of young players, I want these guys to taste victory as often as possible...

...Which will probably be ten to fifteen more times this remaining season.

A couple decent PGs up top in the draft, and a few potential laden SFs as well. I hope this is the last time we pick top 5.

Jeremy Lin?

Might as well - I think he's rotting away on the Warriors bench anyway.
