(Meaning: every loss is actually a win since we're playing for draft position now)
I know I have been for a couple weeks now.
Let's face it - the Kings terrible performances thus far, and their super-tough upcoming schedule pretty much guarantees them a crappy record this year.
So why all the negativity when they lose? (especially to other crappy teams)
Most people knew the Kings were not going to get into the playoffs this year - yes, there was a glimmer of a chance they could catch lightning in a bottle and everything would gel earlier than expected, but come on - let's be honest - a winning season was not likely.
So if we knew in our hearts going in that the Kings were going to have a losing record - why all the wailing and gnashing of teeth when we lose?
Every loss to the Warriors, Nets, etc is a double-lin in the draft race.
The Warriors game was a pretty darn good game to watch, if the focus is on Linning : the Kings showed the were the better team, had the better players and they have a much better salary structure for future seasons.
Simply ignore the absurd turnovers and mistakes in the 4th qtr, assume they are tanking (at the very least) partially deliberately and it was a great game.
I refuse to believe Tyreke and co (cousins excepted) could be THAT clueless and mistake-prone unless they were OK with linning.
I say, break out the tank pics, sprinkle threads with them liberally, and ride out the season, focusing on the positive developments.
Wait for next offseason, with a solid draft pick, more experience, some free-agent moves under the new collective bargaining agreement (assuming they aren't locked out with labor strife).
Yes, the obvious danger is that the Kings support base becomes so thin that it aggravates the forces moving them out of Sacramento - but hasn't that ship sailed already?
