injury update??

Because of the nature of the injuries and Bibby's experience last year, I suspect they will be very careful. Mid to late January has been the guess I have most often heard.

Coach Theus said on KHTK today that Mike Bibby is projected to return Jan. 15. He said the point guard is "chomping at the bit" to get back to the action and because the injury is to his off-hand (thumb), that's "good." Indication was that Bibby might resume limited to eventual full-practice just after first of year. No firm word on when Kevin Martin will return (more wait and see), but it seems a couple weeks or so after Bibby is back in the line-up.

I know it's no shocker, but all I have heard is that Kevin will not be back for the Cleveland game in his home state on January 4th. No other word on a target date for return.

Late Feb/early March, I'd say.

What?

Thought it was projected to be 2nd or 3rd week of Januaary. And its a groin, so you have to be cautious and take it slow or you can lose the guy for the whole year, but I hope you don't have to take it that slow.

Late February? That sure doesn't jive with anything I've heard. I think the projection is still some time in January, with it probably being closer to the end than the beginning. My best guess would be he and Mike could actually be returning somewhere around the three-game road trip in the middle of the month.

Ditto that. Probably second half of January.

We don't have a game on Jan. 15. We do, however, have games on Jan. 14 and Jan. 16.

Last night Grant said he was targeting his return for Jan 15.
Well, there's the target date...and then there's the Kings bad luck in factoring the target date...I still say, just to avoid disappointment, late Feb, early March. Damn Indian burial ground doing good work, as usual.

I read in my morning Bee that Martin is really feeling a lot better and is looking forward to coming back as early as a week or week in a half. We already know Bibby is expecting to participate in the road trip of Jan.16-19. I think it'll be interesting to see how they fit back in...especially since Theus has said first that starters don't lose their spots to injury but then said recently they have to earn them back.

There are links to a couple of new Bee articles in the Kings News Forum.

They have already started on the light practice (no contact). You figure that lasts about a week to two weeks. Than they get into the full contact for about 3-5 days following to make sure they are ready to play. Then they play. So I say probably closer to Jan 20th than Jan 15th (or 14th)

Bibby, Martin might not start out starting. When injured guards return, they'll have to earn their court time.

martin looked pretty good shooting around before the game tonight.

i bet he would be better than most of the stuff we put out there

At the least he offers an option when nothing else is working. I noticed one player having a good game and his contributions ended after the first quarter. From there on it was absolutely awful. Every team has days like this but I wondered if they missed Artest. Hate to start an argument with that comment. I also had the thought that at the least we were moving toward a better draft pick.

Now that's depressed. ;)
