I'm ready for Ben to start again

Entity

Hall of Famer
He has been looking 10 times more aggressive than the previous 3 years. Afflalo not helping in the scoring column at all. Maybe Afflalo can benefit from a bench stint. we just need scoring help right now. I do hope we get the turnaround we expect from a Collison return.

I think using Ben as one of the main weapon off the bench was one of the best moves from Joerger. With the starting unit the Ball sticks too much in the hands of DMC and Gay, therefore limiting Ben once again to a low volume catch and shoot role with no plays run for him at all. We already witnessed how this drags his confidence down.
With the bench he will benefit from having plays run for him, where he can come off of screens or run the pick&roll occasionally. And off the bench he can be aggressive without having to worry about freezing DMC or Rudy out of the game.
Starting SG is a weakness right now, but we have to hope Afflalo can find his game again at some point. Right now he basically looks like the Afflalo the Blazers let go in order to give his minutes to young unproven guys like McCollum and Crabbe.

Shuffling three legged chairs. Ben is producing because Joeger figured out how to set him up without having to create.

The better fit for when DC comes back is possibly starting Temple at SG with Ben off the bench. Better defense at SG with a guy who doesn't have to have the ball or score other than a 3. Pushes Afflalo to the bench and maybe out of the rotation but I see the same thing in that his defense on the perimeter has been just ok, not for the lack of effort but he's a bit slow for some of these quick SGs...speaking of Afflalo's defense.

i agree with that

So it appears Afflalo is Nick Anderson part deux. Except this team is not in the same realm as the team he joined. Man with how crappy the Niners are the Kings were supposed to be my sports bright spot .

Both have shown a willingness to pass when teammates get open. Boogie especially will drive and kick or hit cutters from the post. I see a lot of guys passing up open shots or simply not making the ones they do take.

Ben still needs to do more across the stat sheet, but he does some better things than Afflalo, and offers a potential future solution

No.

Ben is doing fine in his niche. Afflalo will come around in his. We are less than two weeks into the season. 9 days in fact.

One of the things that has happened is that Rudy has come out firing at such a high level it has largely rendered the 3rd scorer in the starting lineup role moot for the moment. The bigger need has been for more consistent scoring off the bench to avoid the lulls. DC will naturally help that if that's his role. If instead DC moves in as a starter, then Ben wouldn't get any shots anyway.

Nope. No way.

Any kind of confidence Ben has gained is, IMHO, at least partially because he doesn't have the pressure of being a starter. Put him back out there in the beginning and I'm convinced we'll just see him revert back to form...and I don't think I could take that.

I gave up on Ben ever being truly productive a long time ago. Right now, I'm honestly just hoping he does well enough that Vlade can get something decent for him in trade.

I thought the same thing with the Afflalo ,Nick Anderson comparison. I like Ben off the bench for all the mentioned reasons, but once again very disappointed in our starting SG situation.

Having Collision in the rotation would likely equal a four and two record instead of the other way around as his scoring would mask Afflalos deficiencies. Its unfortunate as now we have a beat down persona which could be hard to overcome.

I'll leave it to Joerger. If we have to move to Ben it's likely not a positive. May the team and the best man win.

There is a solution:

Heh, Raiders bandwagon is surely gearing up. Too bad they don't have championship defense for the bandwagon. Playoffs are an important step though they've setup - they only have to go 4-4 to make the watershed 10 wins.
