To create trust on the team - they must interact on a personal level off the court; not just see each other on the court. Then the player doesn't think he's not getting the ball because the other player is competing against him
On matchup play - let the players know ahead of the time what the deal is if he changes matchups.
On learning on the fly - actually use game time to teach something. For example, use the game to work on a match up zone.
So, he's seeing the problems trust/selfishness, players hurt feelings, little practice time, and he's coming up with the solutions to the problems.
