Okay, the title phrase isn't really Latin but it's become common usage. Look it up in wikipedia if you don't know what it means.

Now is a critical time. Brickie mentioned this in another thread but now is the time for Kings fans to SHOW THEIR SUPPORT for the team. Not for the Maloofs, may they live forever in very hot places infested with sand fleas, but for the guys on the team and for our own pride.

We are the Sacramento Kings. We are Sacramento! We have done the impossible before and we can do it again. Mayor Kevin Johnson hasn't given up. Crown Downtown hasn't given up. After all we've been through so far, we Kings fans simply cannot roll over and play dead.

The one thing we have going for us is that we have spoken time and time again. We have shown that we are an NBA city come hell or high water. We love our team despite owners that would try the patience of Mother Theresa.

How can you help? GO TO THE GAMES AND ROOT FOR THE TEAM!

We aren't going to impress the Maloofs or get them to suddenly treat us honorably. That boat sailed, crashed on the rocks and sank a long time ago.

What we're doing is showing the NBA we will not be deterred and that this is bigger than the Maloofs. This is about the Sacramento Kings. OUR SACRAMENTO KINGS!

THIS. I was really never a fan of the owners to begin with. I root for my teams because I like, or have liked, players on the team. For example, I am a Dallas Cowboys fan not because of Jerry Jones, but because of T. Aikman and E. Smith. I am a San Francisco Giants fan because of Barry Bonds (although I do think his use of steroids was stupid). I am a Kings fan not because of the MaGoofballs, but because of dudes like Webber, Vlade, Peja, Bibby, White Chocolate, Action Jackson, Hedo, just to name a few. To me, I will never associate a team with their ownership, but rather the players they have on their roster. Which is sort of why I hardly associate a team with the city in which they play. Which is probably why I will still be a fan of this team wherever they may end up playing, if not in Sacramento. I hope it is Sacramento.

And to those who will be done with the team if they move from Sacramento, I totally get your viewpoint, and I totally respect where you are coming from. I just am not that type of a fan...

"We love our team despite owners that would try the patience of Mother Theresa."
lol.

Im going to the game tomorrow and will be screaming my head off. Hope to get some booing in for the maloofs as well.

As a Long time Kings fan, I have the opportunity financially and am now gonna buy two tickets for me and my dad cause will proudly show my colors for my team and root for this team, not the owners. I watch and support this team from the Central Valley and will and maybe for the last time, show all the world that we, Kings Fans, are the best in the NBA, GO SACRAMENTO AND GO THE KINGS!!!! :)

Gotta disagree the nba already knows what type of fans we have. Buying tix just lines the maloofs pockets.

STOP THIS NONSENSE!

You will unwittingly kill your own team.

The Maloofs are irrelevant now. They are gone. Now that they are selling, the team WILL be sold. The Maloofs WILL be out. There is no more "oh my money will prolong Maloof ownership" nonsene to be had. The Maloofs will NOT be the owners of the Sacramento Kings beyond this season. And very likely will not be the owners of the Sacramento Kings beyond the All Star break. Lining their pockets or not lining their pockets DOES NOT MATTER. They are going to be lining their pockets with millions of dollars in this sale. You only HOPE that they are lining it with Sacto money, not Seattle money.

This isn't about the Maloofs at all now. Its about your team. And its about the NBA. You have to do everything possible to drive home the point to the NBA. Now, or forever hold your peace. And unfortunately posting on messageboards will not do the trick. Butts in seats is what's needed. Faces on TV. The roar of the crowd. It was the backdrop to KJ's saving the day once before. It needs to be again.

Again I must disagree its all about the maloofs. They hold the trump card in this case. The BOG has no reason to oppose this deal. You have to think with your head. It drives up franchise value for all owners.

If we can get a local buyer to match or exceed the price of the seattle group they do.

The game has changed, again. Phase I was the Begging Phase: "Please reach an arena deal in Sacramento." That, of course, was an attendance phase, reminding them of how much we support the team, whether or not we like them. Once the Maloofs made it clear that they would not participate in a new arena deal in Sacramento, a lot of folks moved to Phase II, the Starve Them Out Phase. The logic here was that KJ's option 1 (same team, same owners) was now off the table and that the only ay to keep the Kings in town was to force the Maloofs' financial hand into a sale rather than a relocation. It appears that Phase II has been successful.

That means it's on to Phase III, the Bribery Phase. Phase III is all about bribing the Maloofs into selling to a local owner instead of Seattle. It's about bribing the NBA (with our awesome attendance - hey look, we still support this team!) to not approve a sale to Seattle so long as there is a viable local buyer option. At this point, any ticket money that you put in the Maloofs' pockets will no longer go towards them keeping the team...so who cares what they do with it? In the grand scheme of things, it's a drop in the bucket. It's a couple of weeks of lunch money. They will be rich for the rest of their lives whether attendance spikes again or not, the only difference is whether their account balance reads $384,461,412 or $384,557,495. Big whoop. It won't ever make a difference to them. But the bribery...just might.

At this point, it's time to go to Sleep Train with large signs reading "Please sell to a local buyer" as often as possible. Especially if there are any national broadcasts coming up (I don't know if there are...even NBATV would be worth it). We need to check the schedule and get our PR going again, because this is the end game.

Sure. But so does a Sacramento group buying the team. Expansion in fact gives everybody the most cash influx with a big expansion fee. And the big elephant the other owners have long been wary of is the effect on their own future efforts to get new arenas. The image of owners run amuck, ignoring arena deal offers and screwing over packed houses of loyal fans is nto one the NBA in any way wants to be associated with. You have to fight now. Fight with your feet. Make the Sacto option look as attractive as possible, not to the Maloofs who no longer matter, but to the NBA.

Larry Ellison was prepared to drive up the value of franchises wiht his bid as well, but it was still rejected, in that case in favor of the NBA itself buying the team, because of other considerations. You have to make sure you do everything possible to make Sacramento an "other consideration". Make it uncool and unpoular to screw over those great fans.

Totally agree with OP. To improve the chance of keeping the Kings in Sacramento under new ownership we, the fans, have to show any local buyer and the NBA that the fan base is alive and well and eager to support the team here in sacramento. To this end I will continue to spend money at Sleep Train Arena in support of the Kings.

I will agree with you on this: the NBA does already know that Sacramento has great fans. The fans have proved themselves for more than 25 years and may be the leagues best and most loyal fans despite being abused. The entire NBA world knows it. The entire NBA world also knows that if the Maloofs sale the team and the team moves it will go down as possibly the biggest screw-job in the history of the NBA (and this is not Walton hyperbole). The BOG has very big reasons to oppose the sale to the Seattle group. It is trading one black eye for another.

Having said all of this, going to the games and showing continued support is a great idea.

Please stop. If you are done with the team, that's fine. But please do not crush the hopes of those of us who still believe there can be a positive outcome. By doing so, you're no better than a troll. This is KINGSFANS.

It's just an opinion. He's not a troll. Is this supposed to be an intelligent discussion or just a place for the sheep to come and support the Kings? He raises a valid concern, one that I am concerned with as well.

I'm not gonna argue the point. If you don't agree with what I said, that's fine but I don't think it's necessary for Debbie Downers to shoot down the last remnant of the fanbase that still has hope. It seems that every time someone has a hopeful comment to make that someone else has to rush to be the first to crush their hopes.

Well, you know what? Those people may end up being right. Big deal. If they feel it's more important for them to be right than it is for someone to express their hopes for the team to stay, then I feel sorry for them.

You can express your valid concerns all you like. But do you have to intentionally do so in a thread that was started with the clear purpose of showing hope?

smh

Actually right now its a place for the "sheep".

"Intelligent" as a stand in for cynical or hopeless is not just a philosophical standpoint at this time. Its an active impediment to the very existence of this place, and indeed the entire fanbase. So no, its not going to be given equal time. If the locals don't fight, in a few months this community is gone. So arguments for lying down and principled stands resulting in self-termination are not amusing right now.

When you're afraid of failure its always easier to just not try. But all that does is guarantee the failure. Anyone who takes the time to post on a messageboard like this at some level cares. Otherwise why post at all? Well, you fight for the things you care about.
