if we did sign bonzi...

... and no legal problems with ron:D .... what do you think about this lineup...

pg: bibby, garcia, price, salmons
sg: martin, salmons, bonzi, garcia
sf: artest, bonzi, salmons, garcia

i put 4 rotating players cause muss switches them like mcdonalds sells fries:D so each player could play multiple positions based on matchups with diff. teams... i put the second player as the main backup for each position

This is just silly. As a Rockets fan, I can say first hand, Bonzi is horrendous. Not just bad, or terrible but bordering on Mateen Cleaves bad considering how he's played this year.

You can complain about Petrie all you want, but this was a damn impressive move to avoid signing this guy.

damn impressive? petrie didnt not sign him; bonzi and his agent didnt take the offer. imo thats a large difference. its not like petrie looked into a crystal ball and said "bonzis gonna get out of shape and injured, lets offer him enough to not lose face, but not enough that hell take it." if you wanna thank someone, you thank the newly jobless agent of bonzis.

As Kings fans we can say with some confidence that you are a tad off in your assessment of what Bonzi can bring, when he is invested in it. Actually hell, you got a little taste of it when he popped up in that Boston game a week or two ago. In any case, its a lot like a Philly fan explaining to us about Webb, or a Memphis fan about Bobby. Nice, and sorry he did not work out, but we've seen the other side. Just unfortunately no longer have the coach who excelled at reaching those guys.

Of course he was once good, hell houston fans still have hope for the guy if only to play well against San Antonio.

That being said, we all know what he's capable of but he's put together maybe 3 games at best where we've seen the same Bonzi Wells that was in Sacramento (or Memphis and Portland) for that matter. it's the fact that we've seen the guy play well in the past, that gets everyone's hopes up.

The rest of the time he's been utter garbage. And it's not like he isn't a fit in the offense either. We had no low post presence with Yao out and gave Bonzi all the freedom in the world to own people on the low block and he just sucked. His jumper is way way off this year and he's just been flat footed all year.

Ok Mateen Cleaves comparisons are pretty a bit overboard but nonetheless he's been dreadful this year. Thank god we only signed him for 2 million.

I'd have the rotation as:

Provided this is our group next year which is highly unlikely. :p
PG: Bibby, Price, Salmons, Douby/Garcia
SG: KMart, Salmons, Bonzi, Douby/Garcia
SF: Artest, Salmons, Bonzi/Garcia

wishful thinking, in a perfect dreamworld:
PF: KG, Dirk
C: Dwight Howard, Mourning, Miller :p

You cannot judge Bonzi objectively this year based on him having a nervous breakdown and keeping good compuser from strangling his agent. He knows he is very much underpaid and thus is giving at or less then the $ he is currently getting, the other side of the spectrum is the Spurs/Kings series where he played out of this world for the big $$$.

I would not mind having Bonzi back for no more then $4M/year. Many will say, that the ship has sailed, but I really liked what Bonzi brought to the Kings last year. Sure it could be argued that he was in a contract year and played his heart out against the Spurs, which he did, but he is probably still kicking himself for not taking the deal that GP sent his way. You can say your agent is to blame, which is true, but you have to know more of what's up then he says he knew. He was hanging out there for a long time and the league waited for awhile and free agents didn't get signed until the rest of the league got smart and said we are moving on...GP did the same and put a deadline on the offer. I like Salmons a lot and he is more versatile than Bonzi, being able to play 3 positions to Bonzi's 2 at SG/small SF.

Bonzi is bada**. He was our best player throughout last season. I'll take him over any player we got coming off the bench. I think he just lost his motivation. Its pretty hard not to when losing a 30 million dollar deal.

there would e no salmons if we resigned bonzi

Probably so, they have similar skills of being pretty good defenders and not great shooters. John can play PG and is a bit more versatile then the thicker and slightly shorter Bonzi who is really only a SG, but could play SF if we went to small ball. He isn't anywhere close to being a backup PG like John does for us. All in all, I'm happy with John, he isn't very spectacular, but he is a good defender, decent to the hoop, and is versatile being able to play 3 positions and start when needed.

I would agree with this, except for the fact that it seems, he will not give it his all if the $$ is not right. After letting GP's offer sit that long, I think it is safe to assume that he over values himself.

If he would play with his heart for 4 mil/yr, that would be well worth it.

Playing twice as good and getting paid twice as much as he is in Houston this year isn't saying much for Bonzi....especially after seeing him single handely detroy the Spurs in the 1st round last year.

He over values himself and KMart is the most improved player in the NBA and a future All Star, shouldn't have pulled that groin and over valued youself Bonzi. ;)

The really interesting question is how much Kevin Martin would have played and how well he would have done if Bonzi had accepted the contract, imo. Who would've been the starter, Bonzi or Kevin Martin?

Quantity doesn't means Quality, specially with the coach we have...
