1, This makes no sense whatsover.

2. I really don't think it belongs in the main forum. We have the "new arena" forum, which already has things like this.

I'm moving the thread, although I'm really pretty puzzled about why it even exists.

I would have liked to see a "I'll cross that bridge IF and when it happens" option.

Follow them as I am now. Some major bungling by the ownership or team in general is the only possible way the Kings wouldn't be my favorite any more (which would be an actual possibility if they end up moving).

Well, I'm not from Sacramento, and the franchise's "roots" in Sacramento have nothing to do with why I became a fan, so if the team moves, I'll still follow them just as faithfully.

I'd casually follow them and start rooting for the next local team ( Warriors). For me, the Kings are Sacramento's team, a team that represents the town where i live. If they move, it just won't be the same. I can't imagine rooting for the Anaheim Kings or the kansas City Kings. Just my honest opinion.

I could NEVER root for the Warriors. I would sooner rip my tongue out through my ears. Another option that wasn't considered was to root for a totally different team. I might end up returning to the team I first rooted for...the Boston Celtics, partially because I know it would drive hoopsfan nuts.

:p

Won't root for Warriors.. Probably go back to being a Laker fan which I was before I became a King fan.. Then I would wait for the citizens of Sacramento to finally get their collective heads out of their asses and approve a stadium so we could get another team which would then become my favorite.

I would never follow them again and dump the NBA for the most part. I would still keep tabs on what is going on in the NBA and watch some playoff games here and there, but I would never be a hardcore fan again. No jersey purchases, no season tickets, wouldn't attend a game, and certainly wouldn't spend time pondering and posting about a team on a forum like this one.

I used to LOVE the Lakers haha.. I had my starter jacket (two of them, one purple and one black) back in the day. The chicks would wear the white ones so I didn't get that one heh. I was a die hard fan up until about 1990 when there was so much Kings stuff goung around in Sac that it was only natural for me to start liking the Kings. Now I hate the Lakers.. Go figure..

I would be heartbroken Sacramento was the first team I saw and its the only team I will watch and be a fan of.

Theres just that connection that you can't let go of..

yeah too true larry, the kings mean so much to me and following them from all the way over here in sydney always seems to bring me closer to home.

I was going to pick "Repeatedly threaten suicide" but that was a little too harsh :p

I would follow them OF COURSE!

I missed most of this last season due to a lot of factors and there was a part of me missing. This season is going to be different due to my work schedule and new place so I will be back into die hard status soon.

I is and would be hard without the Kings...

Hey, what's the date we're supposed to hear about the developments? November? I remember its under a 180-day process, but forgot when that started...

Side note, anybody who knows/follows the business of private developers: what are the odds that they'll invest in something like this, with consideration to the ongoing recession?

This Cal Expo expansion/new arena discussion deadline would be up in November since it began in May. Recently, there has been talk that a progress report could be issued in January 09 with the possibility of extending talks if necessary for another 6 months past the original deadline.

Risk is not only for any developer who "could" take it on, but the bank who "might" fund it. Unfortunately, this is not exactly the best economic climate (to say the least) to get such a gigantic privately funded project off the ground.

too true PH, personally a can see it fall through for now. It really isnt the best time to invest in big projects like this and its not just in the states. English football teams are putting off new stadium projects in the wake of the current and projected economic climate.

The global financial situation doesn't make anything fall through. In fact, it might actually make it easier in the long run for things to get done.

The Kings aren't going to pull out of Sacramento at this point. In fact, their new home uniforms boldly say "SACRAMENTO" on the front. I don't think it's an accident.

The current economy is resulting in deflation. 3.30 gas as opposed to 4.10? I'll take it every day ;). Developers may be able to throw out offers of 400 million and try to make it work. Lots of people need jobs in construction, they may take a 15$ an hour job instead of $22 as normal just to keep the kids fed, and costs of materials should be less.

Overall the economy is correcting itself and pushing the astronomical costs of things back down. This is a good, though not yet great, time to field offers for an arena. About a year from now would probably be the best time to begin building, I hope they pounce while the iron is hot.

Do you figure we will just settle into the barn for several more years? Unless a structural engineer actually declares it dangerous, I'm fine with Arco just exactly where it is (the bathrooms could use some updating)

2 years w/o complaint if no plan hatched, 1 more year beyond that and we have a real chance of them pulling a seattle on us.

The Kings are my team. I will root for them wherever they play. I pray that this will ALWAYS be here, so that I can see them in person. However, if they go, there won't be another team here to replace them anyway, so my loyalty would follow them (rather then some other cities team who happens to be geographically close) Their leaving would be a bitter failure on the part of Sacramento.
