HUGE NEWS with AEG & Sacramento

Any recap on what Ashby said would be appreciated. I missed her talking due to parental duties. Thanks.

In short, Sheedy had a way too long attempt to make this vote about anything but what it was about. In about 30 seconds Ashby indirectly corrected her and said it wasn't a choice about choosing an ESC over public safety. The money being spent would put a handful of officers back in the field for only 6 months before they would have to be layed off again.

Yep. She gets it. Sheedy looked lost up there - no grasp of the facts, no knowledge of what was going on. Sad.

I attended the city council meeting and we are still on track to building a new downtown entertainment and sports complex.

Sure there were two no votes, but so what? Darrell Fong and Sandy Sheedy were the two that voted no.

Sandy Sheedy is an idiot. There, I said it. I will not be politically correct.

Sandy Sheedy does not have a clue as to what is going on and she is also trying to save her political career, which I find to be sad.

Sandy Sheedy has no leadership skills, no vision and refuses to take a small risk that could very well turn into a huge reward.

To say that we should spend the $550,000 on hiring four more police officers for 6-12 months is beyond stupid.

There were a few from the public who said the same thing as Sandy Sheedy. All I could do was shake my head.

What is going to happen to those four jobs when the money has been spent? It is a one time funding source.

Thank God for Angelique Ashby. She gets it. She understands. She pays attention. She has done her homework. She is willingly to take a risk. She showed leadership. She has a vision for all of her District 1 area, which includes Natomas and the rail yards area.

Another thing I noticed was a reporter who asked for the names of those who spoke against spending the $550,000 on consultants.

Did the same reporter come to any of us who understood what was going on? No.

Negative stories is what sells these days and that is fine.

We are one more step closer to building new downtown ESC.

Our work is not done. There is still more work to be done.

We need YOU to attend the city council meetings, applause those with who you agree with, speak before the council to show your support and send some e-mails to Sandy Sheedy on how ignorant she is (you can be nice to her though).

Phone calls, letters and e-mails can only do so much.

You need to put a voice behind a face to really make an impact.

The momentum is in our favor but we need to keep it going.

I hope that those who read my comments will take me seriously and will attend the next city council meeting when there is another arena discussion.

I will try to come to the next one! I was surprised how empty the place was when I clicked onto the video stream (during Sandy Sheedy's speech). Looks like a dozen or so kingfans.com folks could really make an impression by showing up. I figured it would be like some packed town hall but maybe it was just that when Sandy Sheedy spoke everyone got bored and went out for a cigarette break?

Anyway I will try... we have to push this ball all the way across the goal!

So today they announced that 25 city police and 25 sherrifs will be rehired due to federal grants. So all that drama and they had this coming today?

Does anyone have a transcript or video link of Sheedy? I really want to know what she said.

Grant and Dave were just talking about her briefly, and she apparently suggested to move all this back until June, which means she wasn't even AWARE of the March 1st deadline. I'm sorry, but that is f****ng unbelievable as well as inexcusable, for a city council member to be that clueless.

No, she is aware that the deadline is March. She suggest to push it back for a public vote because of the lockout and that it would buy us sometime. Pretty idiotic if you ask me. Seriously, if we're going to have any serious discussion about building a new arena then this study needs to move forward. Delaying it for a public vote in June? WTF

Good post.

What???????? You simply have to elaborate a little.

Sorry, I was talking about Sheedy. She was asking questions (several of which were just stupid or reveal a deep ignorance on the issues) and then she just came out and said that some of the questions she was asking was over her head and she motioned with her hands. She just admitted that she didn't understand what she was asking (so, who is feeding her the questions?) and probably didn't understand the answers, either.

What was Rob Fong's reasoning for voting no? I haven't heard his take? Is he just a CAVE retard or something?

The indication I got from D. Fong voting no was that he wants the region to put money up and not just the city of Sacramento. Protest on the process and not the arena itself.

I knew it was Sheedy. I just wanted specifics so I could laugh in agony. She should read the news.

Agreed. I think Sheedy got her notes from the CAVE people on the Bee's forum. Just goes to show you how incredibly stupid they all are.

I loved listening to Carmichael Dave's show today especially with Marcos Breton. They discussed the CAVE people and their biggest mouth piece as people who have no clue and they offer no solutions to the tired police, fire, parks, schools, etc. chatter.

I swear the CAVE's biggest idiot doesn't have a job which would explain why he's on there 24/7 posting comments thinking it will stop us from building an arena.

Plus, the dude lives in San Francisco. Really makes me wonder what his motivation truly is. If he has one at all, other than to try to make every discussion about HIM.

The CAVE people discussion on Carmichael Dave's show was quite entertaining...

I have no proof but I think he is lying about having so many homes and having a steady job. He is on the Bee's site way too much and you can clearly see it by the times he has posted. I doubt he even went to France.

But anyway they are all delusional just like that retired grandma accountant who claims their non profit arena group will show up any day now. I think they made fun of her too.

Great stuff on KHTK.

Oh, so THAT'S why the naysayers were all upset at CD on the Bee site! It was like it came out of nowhere, I couldn't figure it out.

It was a hilarious show. I think it was Dave who even mentioned the word "CAVE people" followed by "Citizens Against Virtually Everyone."

Classic.

I wish just one of them would call into the show while using only their user name to identify who they are.

But they're too scared to call in and will just offer up excuses like they are too busy posting comments on the Bee's forum.

One notable difference from previous efforts is the lack of Maloof participation.
Sorry, I just sawe this and felt a need to comment. You have to understand the timeline of events. The city just voted to hire consultants to look at all the financing options and help them with the next stage. They haven't gotten down to the real, nitty-gritty negotiations with anybody, yet.

The city knows that they will be sitting down to negotiate with people like AEG, the Maloofs, Taylor-ICON and the NBA. All thos entities rteally know their area of expertise at a level no city employees can match. Hence, consultants, who will do the next part in nailing down the sources of funding and getting to a real deal. The consultants will be on the city's side in the negotiating process.

So from now until a real and feasbile financing plan plan goes to the city council to approve or reject, they will be doing all the negotiating with all the parties. This is the stage that they will nail down the Maloofs participation.

Once all the financing has been negotiated, that is the single most important vote by the council in this whole process. Anybody in favor of an arena and close to Sacramento needs to show up for that critical-beyond-words meeting. If the deal and financing aren't accepted, we're done.

Finally, this is a deal that should never have been driven by the Maloofs in the first place. All they are going to bw is tenants. It's the city that needs a new arena. Its just not as likely to get done without the anchor tenant (Kings).
