the last few weeks i've been seeing a lot of pro trade martin vs pro give it time, but the ones wanting to trade martin want a solid big man. but there are also other ways of getting a big man and giving the martin/evans backcourt a chance. i dont have a specific trade proposal, i just wanted to gauge what other fans were thinking. so hypothetically would you rather trade martin for the big man, or trade other pieces for our big man (noc, kt expiring and/or jt/hawes)?

As ive been saying all along, any long athletic scrub will do. Any mobile bigman that can make the opposing team feel the need to adjust their shot when going to the basket will suffice. There are guys out there that can be had for cheap.

The Evans/Martin backcourt will not work in years. I'm one of those I think Evans is not a PG, ar least he's not a playmaker. As long as he is talented and hard worker, he can be a very good playmaker with the experience, if he still plays at the PG position. But right now he isn't, and Martin neither. So making them work together will not be a question of weeks or months.

I think another Hilton Amstrong will be the same ****. The needs of an starter quality big guy go further than the court: our young big guys need a guy from who they can learn and get tougher.

Look, Hawes and JT are very talented. The first one is very soft, but he is young and very talented and he hasn't reached all his physical develompent, and the latter has problems of concentration and has to get more cold minded. As long as they are young, relative unexeperienced kids, I truly think they don't deserve all the bashing. They shouldn't be starters, they get more responsability than they can afford. The team needs a center who can get along with that responsability so JT and Hawes can breathe and develop their game without the fandom knife behind their necks and without the responsability they have now. Otherwise they'll lose and lose confidence and they'll never blossom.

Most likely, the same way we've gotten all of our players lately: The draft. Now, I wouldn't be upset with trading Martin for a good, defensive, young big, but they're hard to come by, and generally more valuable than one dimensional shooting guards (even if said shooting guard happens to be very very good at that one dimension). If we could package Kevin +Hawes or JT, we could probably put together a package with enough value to do it, but I'm not sure who that player would be.

Even though I chose to trade Martin, it is not because I don't believe that he and Tyreke can't work. It is soley because we need Martin to help get us a quality big. The other guys won't bring us much more than Armstrong that we already got. You have to trade one of your best to get someone else's potential star instead of their fodder.

If all else fails how bout this:
I used the RealGM: Trade Checker and it didnt work straight up so i didnt know who else to get to make it work... but would you guys be willing to make this trade work somehow.

Washington In:
Jason Thompson
Washington Out:
JaVale McGee

Kings In:
JaVale McGee
Kings Out:
Jason Thompson

I dont know much about him but he got my attention when he played us plus he's young and will fit in.

I dunno, the best bigs are usually picked early in the draft so we either need to get a top pick (could happen at the rate we're going now) and it's still a crapshoot (look at Thabeet, Darko, Yi, I guess Oden if you count his injuries). I'd rather trade for a more proven big man, although there are not too many available.

The best way to get that BIG is to go see the games and bring a big PLACARD:

Petrie, stop sabotaging the Maloofs. Bring us the BIG MAN that we need, or just resign as the GM !:p

The bottom line is we can explore all the possible trade scenarios here, but if Petrie stays the way he is going, we're not going to get what we want. The fans need to pressure Petrie. Embarrass him during games in front of everyone, especially the Maloofs.

Remember that after drafting Evans, almost every fan knows what we needed to balance this team. And what did the clueless Petrie do?

His answers: Sean May, Mason, Udoka, and now Armstrong. Four times he got a player, and four times we moaned and groaned because we knew those players won't help a bit to solve the glaring problem.

If Petrie is a genius, then I tend to think that Petrie is trying to sabotage the Maloofs, or he is just another dumb/lazy GM who just won't try his very best to acquire that most-sought-after player for this team.

This team reflects what kind of a dumb, lazy, or inadequate, or bad GM we have.

And, just what makes you think Petrie is not trying his very best to acquire what this team needs? We don't know what goes on in the inner sanctum. Get a clue. Petrie can try as hard as he wants to. If a team with a quality big is not willing to make a trade then we are s.o.l. Besides, the trade deadline when most GM's are willing to make their move is not for 3 1/2 more weeks. Then, and only then, will we know if Geoff is successful or not.

Agreed

Jefferson would be nice but I dont feel the Kings have any peices of intrest to the t-wolves. Bosh would be the best bet because we can get him without giving up anything besides dead presidents.

Sign Bosh FA then draft demarcus cousins and then the front line should be solid for years to come.

Actually Bosh is the least realistic option of all of them.

If we trade for Bosh, we would need to give up an arm and a leg (and rightly so because he is one of the best PFs in the game regardless of his flaws). Toronto won't trade him for nothing. They will want to get a trade massively in their favour for them to pull the trigger on this trade.

Secondly, Bosh will NOT sign with Sacramento as a FA. Just won't happen so lets not be delusional about this. If Bosh does leave Toronto, and that is HUGE IF, then he will go to a big market town that he can contend with. Sacramento is not that type of destination.

Having said that, I don't think Bosh will leave. Lets be realistic here, Toronto (as sucky as they are) are EC play off team. On top of that, Toronto is the team that can offer Bosh the most money than any other team. Not only can they offer him bigger % increases per year than any other team, they can also offer him an extra year on his contract. That is a massive advantage that team has. And please don't say that no one will give Bosh the MAX deal because thats just wishful thinking. Bosh, Amare, JJ will all get MAX deals this summer.

Things are heavily weighted into Toronto's favour here and they absolutely know it. Toronto has no inclination to do a sign and trade for Bosh unless they get a fairly handy compensation for him. They have no inclination to do so.

Probably the most realistic name to obtain would be Jefferson and he would probably be the least perfect fit with Tyreke. Both Bosh and Amare would be much better fits offensively with Tyreke but would come at a lot heftier price both in terms of trade value and the actual benjamins that you have to pay them.
