How 'bout that Dirk Nowitzki!!!

ive always liked Dirk as a person...and he's obviously a good player...but ever since the past couple of seasons ive found myself disliking him little by little...cuz of the whole kings mavs "rivalry".....if that makes sense at all

I've mentioned before that in years past Dirk has been overrated. Mainly a scorer. But this year he is really stepping forward as the leader of that team and may finally be earning that "super" before the star. Ironically losing Nash may have HELPED him, if not the Mavs as a team. He's taking responsibility, and leading the Mavs in a lot of areas rather than just passively recieving and shooting and letting Nash or Finley worry about running the show/leadership. He is finally taking the mantle as "the man".

Just win baby! :D

(of course the whole reason I took him was because I was thinking something like this might happen with all of Dirk's inter-team competition removed this year (Nash, Walker, Jamison)).

STILL, BTW, not making the rest of his teammates better the way the top of the line superstars do. But is definitely putting on a show himself.

yeah 7-1 shooting guard? i thought he is listed as Power foward or small ?
No, just the old (and generally fair) knock on Dirk that he's soft and plays outside in -- guard trapped in a PF body.

However, said guard is 6th in the league in rebounding right now, so while he's always going to have more of a Euro finesse game, he's stepping forward now and doing more of the things you need a big guy to do for you.

I think Dirk is having an MVP type season, like Peja did last year. Mostly because he had to pick up the slack with Nash gone, like Peja did with Chris gone. Only problem with Dirk is he doesn't have many other players to help him with the scoring load, so I don't think Mavs will go to far in the playoffs. But neither did the Kings, so who knows what will happen this year.

Doesn't have any complimentary scorers ?!!??

there are like 10 scorers on that team.

Stack led the league a few years ago... is still good for 15+ a game.
Finley, good for 15+ a game.
Marquis, good for 15+ a game.
Josh Howard... I'll take away the plus, good for 15 a game.
Terry good for 15 plus a game.
I don't know what the new rookie pg can do.

they have PLENTY of scorers. No distributors, but plenty of scorers.

Dirk Diggler

He's 1st in the league in scoring.. thats tough to do with a certain black hole down in La la land. But he's also 5th in rebounding too! He's definately had to take on more leadership with Nash gone, I just wonder if those ankles will hold up.

Well, to be fair it should probably be noted that the "Black Hole" is averaging about 3x as many assists as Dirk, so which one is exerting greater suction power on the ball is kind of up in question. ;)

In any case, if Peja was an MVP candidate last year, then Dirk just has to be this year with not only the superior scoring, but the extra rebounding dimension as well. But like Peja, will still likely lose out to the better rounded guys who create both offense and defense for others rather than just themselves unless he can really distance himself from them with mega-scoring.

-- Touche black hole prob isn't the best description for the #8 guy in assists in the league but I'm a Kings fan so cut me some slack... Whats his FG% again this year??

Those assists would be a little more meanignfull if he was not averaging 4.47 TO per game to gowith it. If we were to view a TO ans an anti-assist and subtract it the boy would be avering about 2.5 assists per game (hence his TO/assist ratio) being one of the worst in the leage. Black hole, maybe not quite, but play making geniues... hell no.

Lol he's even selfish and flashy getting assists!
