How bout darko?

how about signing darko this offseason? i doubt he would be expensive, hes still very young and is starting to show very good shotblocking skills. maybe he starts to develop. the only this is his rebounding doesnt seem to be improving. what u guys think

I would actually agree -- he's being given a shot, and he's waking up a bit. People treated that game against us as an aberration, but really not so much since Minnesota picked him up.

That said, no chance -- his long stated goal was to go back to Europe and write off the whole NBA experience as a bad trip. MInnesota has been doing everything in its power to try to change his mind -- giving him minutes, a starting role, buttering him up with constant compliments etc. So if he stays Stateside, its hard to see it being for anybody other than the Wolves, and he'll only stay with them if they are able to make him trust them.

I feel the same way, which is why I have wanted the Kings to pick up Darko for a while. Now it seems like the time for that sort of move has passed. Not only has Darko soured on the NBA, but I don't think our team is in a position any longer to do what would be necessary to keep him happy and developing, which is give him as many minutes as he wants. We are likely to draft another big man in this draft because of the depth at that position while we still are trying to develop two other post players we have drafted in recent years, so it doesn't seem like a good fit.

I suggested trading for Darko a couple of months ago and it wasn't well recieved. I think people forget just how young Darko is. He was known for being a good defender/shotblocker coming out of the draft. I think he fell victim to the same fate as Thabeet. When your picked second in the draft the expectations are high. Of course neither he nor Thabeet asked to be picked that high and shouldn't be blamed. The GM should. You never know with a player like him. Sometimes all they need is a change of scenery and a decent chance.

However I agree, Minny is probably the only team that has a chance to keep him playing over here.

Darko plays defense is decent passer and can score a bit. His personality is kinda difficult especially since Larry Brown "ruined" him. I would rather have him than Hawes and Thompson. It id very unrealistic that he would come to Sacramento.

Darko has much of an upside and game wise he would be a good fit for Kings but he is a headcase. Wouldn't want him near Reke and other youngsters.

Just my 5 cents.

And you know that he's a headcase how? Proof please....

The subtitles really do not represent the harshness of the language though.

Sounds like just the guy we need. Hey, not an excuse, but they do tend to get a little more out of control in the european league. Remember this is the league where fans throw coins at the players. And their intent is not to give the players money.

Has he ever done anything over here that would brand him a headcase?

Is it that time of the year already?

I swear, every off season, he always come up in conversations. God only knows why.

I would only bring in Darko for less money. Money is the issue because if he is cheap enough, he will be easily waived if he starts detracting from the team. Yes on Darko, but not for much more than 3 million per.

If you are suggesting that Darko should pay the Kings 3 million to take him, I agree with you...:) Otherwise, I don't see any reason to sign this useless player.

Darko went off during some international event. Explaining how he would F everyone, rip off their heads and defecate on them.

Well see though, that's precisely the attiude I WANT out of my 7'0" tall shotblocking center. :p

As an aside, I will mention again that Darko really hasn't been bad for Minny. He's nto a scrub talentwise. I just don't see him staying in the NBA for anybody but the Wolves.

And that is spot on!

Its either Wolves or Europe for Darko. He won't sign with anyone else.

However, he would be exactly the sort of player we would want in the team talent wise. He is talented enough to be 18/10/3/3 player but his attitude has been a major issue in his NBA career. He expected things to be handed to him on the platter but thats not how it works though.

It didn't help that his first coach was Larry Brown who just didn't like him full stop. I think Darko made a huge mistake when he left Orlando for Memphis. Had he stayed in Orlando, he would have made a great twin tower duo with Dwight...eventually.

When I look at Darko, I see a wasted talent.

Yeah, I doubt he'd gamble with any other team. Minny's a perfect fit for him. They need a center, and so far he's been what they needed. Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time..
