How About Another Viewing Party??

Like some other readers, I coudn't make the first one.....So now since I got a new job and don't work weekends any more, can we plan another one??? I wouldn't even mind hosting it, and I love BBQ-ing.

So, how about it? How about 11/20 or 12/04??? That way it's before most of the holiday rush. The only other thing is I don't have the media....I do have a DVD/VHS player so can I please borrow the disc/tape????:p

Thanks!!!

I am in. If it is on 11/20, I need to know in the next couple of days...by Sunday.

Well the only people to reply thus far have liked the 20th of Nov. So, nancgo, you are on for the 20th. Let's organize.

nancgo is BBQing at her house. Let's plan this and we will post and let our other friends know. Let me know when confirmed and I will post at the other site.

I can bring some baked beans.

Carole, you bring the brownies. ;) :p

BTW - we simply must watch the Championship Game again. Some people did not get to see it. And, to be honest, I would never tire of watching that game. :D

How exciting another chance to get together. Had to miss the last one and was feeling deprived - - boo hoo:( ! I'm available on the 20th, too! Where and when - - Thanks Nanc for hosting.

Sounds good......I really want to see that game again too....anything else is just secondary...
I've got some hot dogs we can queue up. Everyone can bring something to share and whatever special you want to drink. I've got waters and some diet soda. So if you want to show up, PM me and I'll give you the location details.

wahoo...

oh,oh That's the day I have tickets to take my daughter and her hubby to the 49ers. The game is in SF at 1. I am so sorry I suggested the 20th!

Carole:

Sell the 49ers ticket to someone and take your daughter to join us. It will be more fun!

Besides, considering how the 49ers are playing, perhaps it will be beneficial for your kid to see how a WINNING TEAM (like the Monarchs) plays ball!

:)

Before I forget to ask, where and what time will the next viewing party take place, scheduled for Nov. 20th (Sunday)?

If NancGo is indeed hosting, where is the address? And what items are we allowed to take? Are alcohol beverages allowed? I'm interested in the details.

I could bring a game tape or two. And, for a good laugh, perhaps HoopMatron can bring a VHS or DVD version of Nancy Lieberman's {cough} cinematic masterpiece, "Perfect Profile" for us to see! :)

OK here's the scoop:
Viewing Party #2 at my house - PM me for address info. I am in the South Sac area near Elk Grove, Calvine/Sheldon area. There is a Safeway and BelAir nearby, so if you need to pick something up there ya go...
Sunday, Nov 20th at 2pm
I'll have hot dogs to BBQ.
Please bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert, and anything special you want to drink. I'll have water and diet soda. If you want alcohol, I don't have a problem with that. Please RSVP to the board with what you're bringing so we don't get 50 things of fruitcake....
MBF has the WFC game with Houston and the final with Conn for our viewing pleasure.
Also, I have a 10 week old Golden Retriever puppy who is just being potty trained, so if you have an issue with dogs, um.....not much I can say about that. If it's still really nice, I can put her out for awhile too.

And...I have a few friends off the board who I'd like to invite, is that ok with y'all??? They are big fans too.

Yes, can't wait to see that final!!!! Wahoo!!!

I also have Game #3 on tape. Well, most of it, except for the last 90 seconds of that game. Not that it much matters, since we already know who won that game. But it does capture what I thought was a pivotal crucial blown opportunity for CT Sun, as well as Coach Thibault getting conked in the noggin.
:)

For what it's worth, during the halftime show, you can barely hear what Nancy L. is saying because of the loud noise from Arco's halftime entertainment: a hip-hop violinist! :D

I would love to get to this one. I have tickets for B Street at 2PM also and I'll come out when it's over, if it seems like it's early enough. So I don't know what to say about bringing something. Will you BBQ after watching the game?

If you read my previous post that I had Game #3 of the Finals on tape, and had everything except the "last 90 minutes", I just want to let you know that I just corrected myself. I meant to write: "last 90 seconds" of the game. It captured everything up to the one CT Sun player who missed an easy layup that would've pulled the game a lot closer than the final score reflected.

Man, if I had missed 90 minutes of the game, there would've been not much of a tape! :)

Anyhow, I'll bring that game tape along, and some others.

Sorry HoopMatron.....I know how you feel....I just changed jobs so now I can do stuff on Sundays....We'll be thinking about you!!!

All, right, fess up! Who all was there and what did you see and how was the food! The 49ers game was good, only lost by 2 points and almost tied with the last toss but missed at the last second. The seats were right near the bottom so we could see the action - but were on the side where the overflow crowd bench extended into the sideline and we could only see half the game!!! And the traffic was so bad it took 4 hours to get there, instead of the expected 2 and allowed 3. So we missed the first quarter and saw only half of the rest! The good part was we got to see Steve Young receive his Hall of Fame ring. So, parking was $25, 1 hot dog and 1 drink apiece was $40, and then there was dinner on the way home...great free tickets, huh?

So, please tell me what I missed!!!

First of all, nice avatar, Carole.

Food was good. It was a hot dogs and baked beans type of eats. Oh, did I mentioned the brandied fried chicken and pork chow mein. ;) There was also the usual chips and dip...and veggies and dip for the more careful eaters. Oh, and don't forget the cookies.......yep.....cookies galore.

MBF, StevenHW, HoopItUP (or whatever MB's name is now :o ), nancgo, myself, and a bunch of nancgo's friends were there. If I forgot anyone, please pardon me, I just got up and have to go get ready for work. I never think clearly at this time of the morning. :p

I had a good time. We saw the deciding game of the Western Conference Championship vs. Houston, which took our gals to the WNBA Finals. Then we relived the deciding game (Game #4) of the WNBA Finals vs. Connecticut.

I brought some other game tapes along, but we never got around to seeing them. Oh well, maybe next time. :)

MB...AKA...NOTHINBUTHOOPS! Had a great time catching up with friends & going back in time to our Championship game....All the way Live!
Thanks to Nanco for hosting the event & to everyone who stopped by.
Monarch fans are cool!

I had a great time even though I had to leave at the start of the first half of game 4. I take it we were able to come back and win that game? ;)

And it's become apparent that we need to coordinate dates for our next viewing party with Yo's calendar. ;)

Thanks to everyone who showed up. Both games were just great...I know we were biting our nails at the beginning of that final, would they make it or not....;) It was great seeing our team finish it, and of course all that stored up confetti finally being released! And as 6th says/sings:
We are the champions, my friend!!!!

Thanks for the yummy food and fun company. It's always nice to hear other opinions and perspectives. I think a viewing party should be scheduled like every couple of months, you know, just because......:D

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday everyone!!!
