Honeycutt, the Star in the wings at D-League?

Don't hold your breath folks for Honeycutt to fly down from the D-League to bail out the woeful Kings. In his first two games averaging 23 min he is shooting 3/12, has 3 steals, 7 TO's and 7 pts. Wow! But he does have 13 reb. Oh boy. Can hardly wait.

I've been a major supporter of his since he was drafted, and I'm still in support of him getting some actual PT on this team. There's no better time to try and develop him when your two major 3's are Salmons and JJ. Both of whom should have no commitment from us after this year. He might be playing terrible in the D-league, sure, but at this point, why wouldn't we at least try and see what he can do?

Give him time he has to adjust to new system new teammates and if you have ever played basketball before you would know its hard playing excellent after you have not been playing in any meanful games for a very long time. All those D-Leauge guys are in form they have been playing for a while now, Tyler is not other than training whats he been doing?

Err ... not exactly. Most NBA "scrubs" who get thrown to the D-league usually end up being the best players on their team from the get go.

Tyler update Sun, 12/9
Seems he is adjusting. Saturday night Tyler was quite the monster as Reno beat Bakersfield by 20 in a D-League game. His stat line for 40 min. playing time was 17/15/3/5 for pts/reb/ast/stl. he is now averaging 10 & 10 thru 4 games. Wow! 40 minutes on the court in a D-League game! guess he must be getting in shape. Now if he can only improve that 188 lb. on a 6-7 frame he could get a call up sooner than later.

Good for him and we should let him stay at D-league to build his confidence some more.

I actually don't want Honeycutt get the chance to take away some playing time minutes from Outlaw, Johnson, (and Salmons). IMO, the 3 SFs we currently have are good enough, especially and ONLY IF they can learn to play their role and find their rhythm. For them to find that rhythm, they need lots of playing time. Also, consistent minutes for whoever it is Smart chooses as the starting SF is also needed.

For those of us who want to see for ourselves, D-League and Youtube has a deal to broadcast games live. Below are a few links to complete Reno Bighorns games on Youtube. You can also catch some familiar names like Darnell Jackson, Troy Wroten, Garrett Temple, and Marcus Landry.
