I too find a lot of disgust in our owner being at a Warriors playoff game rather than focusing the team he actually owns....the roots are always going to be there unfortunately since that's where he started and deep down I think he wants to mimick that Warriors team. It's either that or we are just reading too much into this...who knows it's the offseason so it's something to discuss.

He loses nothing if the team fails. He stands to lose NOTHING. The franchise valuation went up a lot and he got a sweet sweet deal for the arena from Sacramento.
He could trade DMC to the Warriors for Speights, tell us all to go suck an egg, and still end up selling his portion for double what he paid. He invested a lot of hard earned money to make a lot of not so hard earned money. It was a GREAT investment move. You apologists act like he gave the 300M to charity. He kept the Kings here because that was part of the agreement to get a franchise. He hasn't shown he actually cares past that.

Vivek Ranadive should not be going to any Warriors game, especially to rub Kings fans nose in an Oracle Arena playoff spectacle. He needs to be called out on it loud and clear. It only makes Sacramento Kings seem like an after thought, like some minor league sideshow not worthy, not to be taken seriously. It feeds into ongoing perception that Sacramento is a backwater and will always be inferior to the Bay Area. Vivek should know better and once and for all cut such hob nob nonsense with Golden State. In the future if he needs his W's fix then sneaking into Oracle with grocery bag over his head is only way!

The only time I would be concerned would be if the Kings were in the playoffs and Vivek went to a Warriors game instead. Otherwise, it's no big thing. People need to grow up.

You know why it matters. That dumbass wants us to be like GS he wanted to hire Mullin cause of Kerr do you not understand that's gonna ruin is and cause DMC to leave. If he wasn't over the GS fascination Malone would still be here and we would have won 38+ games and free agents would be looking at coming to the up and coming team. But no he wanted jazz bull crap.
Maybe Vevik should grow up and build the team around DMC not the phantom splash brothers that we have.

Honestly I know it's early but this years playoffs imo compared to last years is going to be garbage, there is literally one interesting match up in the first round in the East and that's Washington vs Toronto (Pierce vs fans) and the West just doesn't have the same vibe it did last year with the 7 game wars and physical play of Houston vs Portland (injured this year) and OKC/Memphis.
This has literally been the most boring opening to a NBA playoffs I have ever seen the regular season was more exciting than 90 percent of the games so far. Just seems to lack a lot of energy (zero bad blood) when I'm watching them.\
Also who gives a crap about the Vivek photo maybe he enjoys watching quality basketball, at least the dude is passionate about the game and despite being somewhat flawed and probably to hands on, he's only 1 year into a complex business he knows little about give him 2-5 years than judge him.

If you think DMC as #1 option and Rudy Gay as #2 option is going to lead to anything but at best a 7-8th seed or worse than your in for a surprise, we got people here talking about going deep/all all the way we can't even win 50% of our games when both those guys are healthy.........Unless we are swapping Rudy Gay for Lebron/Durrant/Harden or something else so completely unrealistic than aiming for 8th seed should be what we should be doing, you call the Bucks are a treadmill team well we are a treadmill lottery team.

Our team hasn't reached 30 wins in so long, yet some people talk about contention and "going all the way". we should be happy if we make the playoffs.
It's like some people think we are a summer away from contention, but much like Bruno Caboclo- we are 2 years away from being 2 years away.
It's like you guys don't even pay attention sometimes. A healthy Gay and Cousins is a strong enough combo to take on the West. The rest needs work, but Malone proved it could be done. Even Karl proved we could take it to Memphis.

I'm not sure what you mean by "take on the west" but if you are thinking about contention I'll counter that at best we are on playoffs contention not title contention.
Gay and Cousins are good- but is it really better than Curry and Thompson (and this team is deep)? Harden and Howard? CP3 and Blake (especially considering DeAndre)? Lilard and Alridge (with great pieces to complete the strating 5)? Gasol and Z-Bo/Conley? Duncan, Parker and Kawhi? Durant and Westbrook?
You really think our core is better than those teams? DC, DMC and Gay are better than Dirk, Ellis, Chandler, Parsons and Rondo as a core?
In fact- do you think that DMC, DC and Gay is better than Davis, Tyreke and Holiday? cause I'm not sure.
We are far from talking abut contention, you can make a compelling case for the Suns and Jazz as teams with a better roster.
Talking about Gay and Cousins "taking on the west" is not very realistic right now. I don't know what you call tweaks, but we need to get 2 more starters to get competitive, that is not what I call "tweaks" that's adding two quality players which is a pretty rare thing to do in one summer. if next year will finish the season in the 40 wins area and out of the playoffs- I will look at it as a success.

Both DMC and Gay are inexperienced in the Playoffs. Both have a lot of room to grow, especially when it comes to making the right decisions late in the game. Most contending teams in the West have around 7-10 great to solid players, that know their role and have great chemistry. Our role players outside of DC and Ben wouldn't be in the rotation for those teams.
The core is not solely what makes winning teams. It's no more than the first step.
First we need to fix our starting 5 by adding an above average PF. And than we need to aquire shooters and defenders.
I don't think we can do this in one offseason.
So after all - we are more than 1 summer away from contention with gaining experience and developing chemistry as the biggest TO-Do's. With this in mind an 8th seed and first round exit would be a stunning success for the Kings next season.

His investment has already paid off here. He just needs to see it through to the arena then he can cash out. Kings winning or not is irrelevant to that.
Heck, why wait, he could cash out now and end up a real billionaire.
So can we stop with the poor Vivek charity version of events (He saved the Kings!). Buying the Kings was a slam dunk investment opportunity just handed to him, and he pounced.
Imagine he's sitting there posing with lakers fans. Now tell me that would be ok.
Is it a fluke- is impossible to answer, but do you really believe we could have carried on like that for 82 games? even in those 15 games our record was 9-6 or 0.6, that would have given us nothing more than the 8th seed this year.
and that is considering we would continue in the same winning pace, and won't suffer from any injuries. Malone's record when fired was 11-13, and without DMC against OKC it would've probably go 11-14, even if from that point on you wouldn't have had any injuries, and continued to win at 0.6 pace you'd finsh the season with 45 wins- equal to 8th and 9th seed- NO and OKC.
like I said, I believe that if we play the summer right we belong in contention for a playoff spot, but talking about title contention is ludicrous at this point.

i believe we would. the team was only beginning to gel at that point. malone had this team united and believing in the system. we'll see if karl can ignite the fire in the team to play cohesively.

and what a shame that would have been, to see this kings team grow together and reach the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons...
I like my chances against anyone in a 7 game series as long as we have Cousins. I've already posted about the bare minimum necessary to make this team competitive. It isn't as much as you really think.
And yes, of course I'm assuming full health. No one ever goes in assuming a year full of injuries (including the one the FO sustained to the head). What would .600 ball net us?

Cavs
Bulls
I'm not afraid of any of them in a 7 game series, even with our current roster. We make it there, and yes, I think we'd win a championship. Unfortunately...

Trailblazers
Rockets
Grizzlies
Spurs
Mavs
Warriors
Clippers
Would have a better record than us. Now, taken in a vacuum, you'd think that's a tough row to hoe, but we'd certainly have dropped some other team's overall record as well. The Pels weren't an issue under Malone. We were up big against many of these teams, and, even with our dysfunction this year, we were a boneheaded play from splitting vs. the Grizzlies.

I'm pretty sure you completely misunderstand me, what I'm saying is that we should be talking about playoff contention, and that people that talk about "going all the way" are going to face a disappointment.
getting to the playoffs this year, even if Malone had stayed and all was good and well was unlikely- and that was my point, I for one would be happy for us just being in the playoff picture comes March/April.
I feel like what I'm about to say will might be consider blasphemy around here but... Cousins is not the best player in the world, he is top 10- but he is not so good that he can carry a team in a series against a better team.
we are not in the east so I fail to see how that relevant, and with our current record we wouldn't sniff the eastern playoffs.
Of course no one think about a injury full season, but every team suffer injury- yet if you only take into account our best time, without injuries you are still looking at 0.60 basketball (plus with no injuries, OKC would have grabbed a high spot).
look at NO, AD played 68 games- not a full season, Holiday played 40 and Gordon 61- and still they made the playoffs.
at the best case scenario we are a fringe playoff team- and we should start expecting it and stop acting like it's a surprise we aren't going toe-to-toe with the likes of Spurs ans Warriors.
The point of the playoffs is to "go all the way". Why else would you be there? Your team should be structured with the intent of doing so.
