Hey Kings? Want drama? Watch a freaking soap...

I've had it. I cannot even stomach the idea of watching another game by this current group of "players" at this point in time. I do not want to see George Karl; I do not want to see Demarcus Cousins; I do not want to listen to Grant Napear; I do not even want to see Vlade right now.

What do I want to see? Oh hell, I don't know. Maybe some freaking basketball without the freaking drama? That'd be nice.

I watch two soap operas - The Young and The Restless and General Hospital - and I get all the pathetic whining, back-stabbing, egocentric activity, etc. that I could possibly need.

I do not have any patience left. Basketball is a game I have loved for over FIFTY FREAKING YEARS and the current ownership, management, coaching staff and players of the team I've loved since 1985 has just about destroyed it. It's not fair to any of us, no matter how long we've been fans of this group of morons. We fought to keep the team and for what? So we could be the laughing stock of not only the entire NBA, but the whole sporting world in general?

I have no excuses for any of them any longer. They've done what I didn't think was possible. They've put me in a position where I'd rather go in for cataract surgery than attend the final game in STA. And the decision wasn't even close...or difficult.

Do they honestly think we fans enjoy putting out hundreds of dollars to buy tickets to see the pathetic excuse for a product they're putting on the court? Does they think we like watching multi-millionaire coaches and players throw temper tantrums and act like petulant children when they don't get their way?

Hey, all of you guys who get paychecks from the Sacramento Kings: I have a newsflash for you. You make more in a freaking day than a lot of us make in a year. And yet, we continue to dig deep into our pockets to support you by attending the games, paying to watch them on league pass, wearing jerseys to honor you, etc. And, at the games, we pay exorbitant prices for food and beverages to complete the experience.

You guys all need a reality check. You may have been poor once or come from modest beginnings, but you're professional freaking athletes now. You're supposedly among the best in the world at what you do. Why can't you find a way to act like it?

I'm pissed. I'm fed up. I want you to come out and tell me why I should bother to care any more when it's pretty freaking obvious you guys care more about your own egos than you do about any of us.

At this point, I'm really close to just saying "BITE ME" to all of you. I'd sure like even one of you to have the cajones to honestly tell me why I shouldn't.

Go Kings? Yeah, whatever.

can this be renamed the vent thread? I'm sure plenty of us have a seasons worth of that to fill these pages with.

I think its time to blow things up. Too many toxic attitudes in the locker room and Karl needs to go. All I want is a team that plays 100% for 48 minutes, doesn't argue with the refs on every call and without any drama. Is that too much to ask?

At this point, I don't give a holy crap what they do. I only care about the results. We've talked all year about tweaking this, or changing that...and none of it has done any good. I don't care if they ship the whole team out and bring up the Bighorns to finish the season. I don't care if they hand the coaching reins over to Jerry Reynolds. I don't care if they bring back Rupe the Hoop for fan morale.

The drama has to end. Period. Anything less is just no longer acceptable. And I think the whole organization from top to bottom needs to know exactly how far they've pushed their limits. FANS DESERVE BETTER.

Good posts VF21. It really is amazing what we have been through. After our golden years in the early 2000's, we went thru a slow bleed as we lost our beloved players to injuries, retirements, and trade dumps. Then we had the Magoof years where they only cared about the bottom line and wouldn't invest in the team. Then, we went thru all the relocation drama and were within an eyelash of losing the team. Then we thought Vivek would save us all....

Unfortunately, Vivek thought he was playing fantasy basketball instead of being the owner of a real NBA franchise. We had to deal with Pete's incompetence as a GM, Mullin's incompetence as an advisor, we morned over Malone's completely undeserving firing only to be tormented more by hiring a senile washed up coach in George Karl.

And on top of all of that, our all-world center has the maturity of a small child and doesn't seem like he will ever get it. WE DON'T DESERVE ALL OF THIS!!! Like many others have said, just give me a team that competes every night, plays together, and leaves the drama behind. It's pretty sad that we've come to the point that something as basic as that will make us happy but I think we've been so beaten up the past 10+ years that we'll take that at this point.

I am so SO glad that somebody finally put up a Rupe the Hoop clip. For years the internet has sucked and you couldn't even find a single picture of the icon himself. Then a few weeks ago, Eureka!

Not only that one either. They've got at least half a dozen of them. A warning to Kings fans everywhere that as much as they may think they are in pain, it can always get worse.

You know you've ****ed up when VF21 is ready to bounce.

I agree with everything you said btw.

I'm just so tired of all the unprofessionalism. This team and its front office has disrespected the fans for far too long.

I really wish I never became a season ticket holder before the start of the season. What a ****ing bait and switch.

Congrats VF on starting this thread with the best post of the season.

It sums-up feelings as well. I knew I had "had enough" when I started enjoying watching this team lose and make a mockery of themselves. I enjoy it because I want them to feel the same embarrassment I do cheering for them. Also, I enjoy it because it is good for the franchise right now imo. Not because it will get us a better draft pick. Rather, the worse this team looks the better the chance that the FO blows it the eff-up this off-season.

I draw the line at bringing back Rupe the Hoop.

Drama is NOT the problem.

Sorry, had to say it.

Losing is the problem. Again, people have this oddly myopic view of the NBA. And I don't know if it was just informed by the feel good teams of 15 years ago, but damnit, LOTS of great teams have drama. Some of them have tons of drama. Cleveland has been a constant circus. The Clippers have been a constant circus. Remember the Shaq and Kobe feud? Or just any of Phil's teams since there was the most manipulative and smug coach of all time. How many rings did Dennis Rodman rack up?

MANY great teams have drama. If they were your team you might wish they didn't, but in the end, they are great because they win. I'm sure even on thsoe teams there are basketball fan versions of the moral minority advocating busting up the winning team because its just so shameful and all, But in the end, win, and drama takes a back seat.

And even the golden era teams here were hardly as free from it as selective memory suggests. Remember JWill? Webber's legal problems? Voison's crusade against him. His return from injury? Funderburke's religious issues and then departure? The Wallace situation? You win, and drama gets swept under the rug.

Two nights ago mom and dad had an argument, and dad's sleeping on the coach tonight. Happens. Not the end of the world. At least not if the team wins. If the team wins you can rebel against your coach, hate your teammates, whatever.

The problem is the team is losing. And specifically, because I have seen this fan sickness before, because fans are disappointed. They feel they were promised something, and it did not come to pass. That's when the most extreme fanbase reactions have taken place.

I do sympathize. Losing hurts. The more you care, the more it hurts. Even in the good years, I would care so much that when the Kings let another team go on a big roll, I would have to turn away and not watch. Some of those games they came back and won. But there was always drama. At least I think there was. And losing tended to amplify the drama, while winning seemed to placate it. I don't like what's happening this year on so many levels, but my strategy is to - somehow - care a bit less so it doesn't hurt as much.

The fanbase is acting like an abused prisoner, and they are lashing out at whatever reactionary thing captures their ire that is safe to vent their frustrations on.
This has been Demarcus' role ever since he got here - he is a lightning rod for frustration, partially because its his personality, and also because Napear has conditioned the fanbase to demonize him.

Since when was it required that a great athlete be an absolute saint on the court?
Since when do they have to be aggressive enough to be able to compete against the best in the world, yet also be passive and gutless enough to not blow up when they feel insulted, slighted, and abused?

If the typical Kings fan would actually put themselves in Demarcus' place, and imagine how they would/should actually act when faced with the impossible position he's in this year, they would probably see that there is basically nothing Demarcus can do that will satisfy the fanbase and dodge blame. He could put up 40 and 16 and still be blamed - oh, wait - he already did that, and was still blamed.

So yes, he acts out - congrats, he's human, and still needs to grow emotionally. But blaming him solely for the failures of the last 10 years of this franchise is absurd, myopic, and letting yourselves become the raving mob that Napear uses to influence this organization.

I seriously think this franchise would be MUCH better off if they suspended Napear for conduct detrimental to the team. Grant has zero excuses for his behavior, he sits in a comfy chair courtside and has zero expectations on him yet he continues to deliberately incense this fanbase into a frenzy against Demarcus with blatant bias, instead of objectively reporting whats going on out there on a nightly basis.

Well said. How does this help VF21 or any of the rest of us? It doesn't. It does suggest a cure - WIN.

Hey, off of Napear. He s not the problem, and off of VF21 and the fans, they did not single out Cuz as the problem. Read VF's and Brck's posts above.

Indeed. A focus on Napear as the cause of fan frustration is as myopic as the supposed singling out of Cousins as the source of the franchise flounderings (if anyone actually feels that way).

Edit, ok, maybe Andy Furillo feels that way. Sheesh.

Drama may not the "the" problem, but it is "a" problem. There are so many problems with the current situation they are are hard to count, but they all contribute to losing. The drama certainly is not part of the solution as it likely results in further team division. Furthermore, I am sick of seeing it if that matters at all.

Was hilarious during the Boston vs Rockets game I got the Boston feed and the play by play guy and sideline reporter were talking about what's going on around the league and obviously the DMC suspension came up .....

Play by play guy: "what would NBA reporters do without Sacramento"
Sideline guy: " well it would certainly be a lot more boring during March"
