With the exception of the Webber/Divac years, I don't see any reason why anyone who wasn't a lifelong Sacramento resident would even want to be a fan of the Kings. If I was going to be a fan of a team from a region other than my own, I'd want it to at least be a team with a shot at a championship. That's why I'm a Celtics fan actually.
Some fans associate loyalty to a sports team as loyalty to a city. I personally don't see it that way. I've been a Kings fans since 1999 and went through the good years and the bad years. Right now we are still bad. But I follow the team because of the team, not the city. A sports team is just a business thats in that city. Too many people become bandwagon fans when the team does well and claims its because of city pride. I don't like that idea. I'm from LA so I can easily jump on the lakers bandwagon and make fun of all the other teams like many lakers fan do. But when I really started getting into the NBA, I liked the Kings and my loyalty remains.
