I'm completely addicted to this show...

It boggles my mind the ego some of the "chefs" have about their talents when it's pretty clear to anyone who can do more than boil water that some of them are merely out and out frauds.

Is it just me or does it bug anyone else that so many of them are smokers? Since successful chefs have to rely on blends of subtle spices, I'd think they'd want to make sure their senses aren't dulled by smoking. And personally, I'm tired of seeing people have to sneak out for a smoke. Do they wash their hands afterwards???

It took a while for me to get used to Gordon Ramsey, but I think he's exactly right in really getting on some of their cases about their lack of skills. There's a pretty impressive job waiting at the end of the competition and if these wannabes are gonna win, they're gonna need to bring the very best in every single serving and I'm sure not seeing it so far.

Early unfavorites include Bob, who seems to feel he should be given special consideration because of his size; Lacey, who's just obnoxious; and Seth, who has the cooking acumen of a garden slug.

I've never seen it, but I have seen Chef Ramsays other show..Kitchen nightmares or something like that..

It is soo funny to watch him lay in to the "gourmet chefs"

However, a bit disturbing at what goes on in some kitchen and food places!:eek:

My husband and I have been watching since Season 1 (one of my guilty pleasures), and are always amused by some of the contestants' high opinion of themselves and their skills. I'm sure a lot of these people were chosen not necessarily for their skill, but for the amount of drama they might be able to create. I also chuckle at how ill-equipped these folks (I resist calling them all chefs) seem to be in dealing with Ramsay and how he rides the them . Have they not seen this series before signing on? How could they not know to expect a verbal butt-whipping when they screw up? I don't think of this show as reality TV - to us it's a comedy.

Oh granted - it's more comedic than I think they ever thought it would be. It always amazes me when they cannot prepare even the most basic dishes without screwing them up. Like when they send out raw chicken and actually look surprised when it's sent back to the kitchen...
