How many games before his second? Shouldn't this be in general?
...but the real question is how many more posts before VF closes this FOOTBALL thread?? Oh, and just for the record...I think Alex will get at least one more this game. HA!

No, the real question SHOULD HAVE BEEN "How long before VF moves this thread to the appropriate forum?"

And the answer would have been: Less than 5 minutes, OR as soon as she saw it.

;)

As a die-hard 49er fan, I'm happy for Smith. As long as they don't win this stupid game, I'll be very happy for him.

What the hell happened today?? Someone explain it for me....

Houston threw a pic in their own territory is what I assumed happened judging by the updates on my phone... I'm still in vegas so I've yet to see the highlights... I pretty much assumed that the texans had thrown an interception on purpose hahaha... And all I know now is that the niners have no chance of getting bush now.... Ahhhh I'm so f***en pissed.

to be honest im not that mad that we wont be gettin bush... frank gore is the real deal...... aslong as he can stay healthy he will be a 1000 yard back.... matter of fact all 3 of our backs are good.... and 2 of them can easily be 1000 yard rushers..... i like what i see in gore.... i like what i see in hicks too..... i really hope we could get aj hawk.... hawk, smith and peterson would be a really strong group of linebackers!

I'm perfectly okay with the way things went, especially when even if we lost we probably wouldn't have gotten "Bush pick" anyway. I'm glad to see that New Orleans will most likely get it. As long as he doesn't go to Texas - or Oakland - I'm a happy camper.

I did like that our guys refused to give up. Winning these past two games, when everyone was pretty much thinking they'd tank, showed that winning is important to them.

The Niners will still get a very good draft pick.

ONEZERO - Houston didn't intentionally throw an interception. David Carr went out with an elbow injury and his replacement hadn't taken a snap all year. He did pretty good under the circumstances.

I am glad that we won... Like vf said, it shows we care about winning....

Fillmoe, unless you're the patriots, you need some kind of star players to win in this league... Although bush is still in college and we don't know HOW great he'll be in the nfl, how long do you really think you can count on Gore AND hicks to be solid running backs in this league?... I'd rather have gotten the first pick and taken bush... It puts the franchise back on the map and free agents would wanna come to san fran to play with him....

Any team can use bush, but we don't need him. As you said we don't know if he will be good in the NFL. I think he will but you never know. Plus, he still reserves the right to remain in college. What the niners need is another receiver. Battle, Lloyd and "X" will do perfectly in the niners system. Along with two decent running backs, a little undersized, but both with explosive ability.

I say we use our top pick to get the best or 2nd best receiver and then we use the rest of the picks for the USC/Texas linemen and one more safety/CB.

And then we watch the wheels turn as our youth gains experience.

VF, doesn't new orleans have 3 wins and the texans have 2 wins, thus leading to the texans getting the first pick, not the saints??

I didn't follow all the reasoning, but the announcers at the end of the game said the first pick would more than likely belong to New Orleans. I may have misunderstood...

If the Texans do end up with the first pick, they need to trade down for some later picks. Their problems go much, much deeper than even the 49ers.

I might be tempted to think outside the box a little and go for an offensive lineman right out of the gate.

Don't be so sure... Tony Banks has made a career of creating clutch turnovers. ;)

Now, that is what I want to see. Forget Bush, a nice to have but not necessary running back. Build that dang offensive line!!

Had the texans not thrown the pic and made a little drive, punted, and forced us to score and had we failed it would've been hilarious to see the "reggie bowl" turn into a tie hahaha.

Texans will get Bush if he declares... I don't mind this win by the 49ers. They need a bunch of quality players, not just one guy. And I really really like Nolan and the attitude he's inspired in this team. I think good things lie ahead as long as he's at the helm.

If i remember correctly...
Texans
Saints
Jets
Titans
Packers
The Bay area teams will battle for the next 2 spots

Even if the 49ers might not have drafted Reggie Bush or needed him at least, neither does Houston. But... the 49ers should not have won that game. They now bumped themselves down a ways and couldve traded the first pick to someone willing to give a little for Reggie. Dissapointing.

I love Frank Gore. I would rather have the tandem between him and Hicks this past year then having Barlow. Dude fumbles like crazy. I wouldn;t mind having Gore and Deangelo Williams of Memphis be our running backs this upcoming year.
