Rick has a thing against athletic and defensive minded players.
Maybe he feels that anyone more athletic than him can't play??? Please fire him tomorrow. I was at the game and the majority of the people around me felt the same way.

We needed a shot-blocker on the floor tonight, the problem is....

WE HAVE ONE!

I was at the game and Wade/Zo drove too many times to through the lane.

SOME, PLEASE! Some, interior defense!

Yes, we all know theres not enough minutes to go around but please Rick, just play Skinner when we need him, the guy doesn't need consistent minutes!
Like I said before, we had an even better paint defender last season. He saw about the same playing time.

We have two, in Skinner/Sampson.

haha told you guys i knew the Kings were gonna lose right after they lost to the warriors. ;) Kings better change something cause so far in the season there has been nothing positive to say about the Kings execept for beating the Bobcats and Utah Jazz.;) We suck at defense, not as good in offense as we were before.

Is it that hard to guard the three point line?!?!
apparently for the Kings yea... I know its sad but here's the Kings game plan. Give it to Brad, if he cant pass then let him shoot the shot or give it to Bibby or Peja to force a 3pt shot. Then celebrate on your way back on defense and stand 5 ft away from your defender. Brad make sure you dont play in the low post, stay in the high post and chuck them 3s when there wide open. I bet thats what RA tells them to do.

Kings are a C+ team. Miami is a Solid B team even sans the big monster. Miller fought (as he always does), but still ANY TEAM in the league can go to the basket against us ANY TIME they want.

Formula:

C+ playing B ball loses to B playing (shooting) A+ ball. For our gutty little C+ team to ever beat A teams we are gonna have to beg for D performances from them.

Of course I don't know what I'm talking about, but we're just not talented enough to win anymore. Sorry.

P.S. Having Webber now IMO would not combat our problem. He is shooting nice now, but he is easy game defensively and his team is getting killed by easy shots that are often caused by his defense and lack of jumping ability. We've got plenty of those guys already.

Webb's jumping is fine now. His blocks and rebounding are up and he dunks twice a game or more. He'd have trouble with quicker forwards like Odom (who's back at the 4) because he's slow laterally. But if Odom misses, Webb is much better than either Miller or Shareef for securing the defensive rebound. I don't think there should be any doubt we'd be better with Webber. We were doing well this time last year with him and he's even better now. Our rebounding might even be decent with him and Wells. And then there's the stuff he does on the offensive end.

Anyways, it doesn't matter who we get to do it, we need consistent rebounding from our bigs. Make a trade or go to the bench more. And shot-blocking might be nice too. Bigs don't just defend other bigs, they also defend the lane against guards. So taking that into account, Shareef and Miller just aren't getting it done. It's like a revolving door down there.

Brad did well on the boards this game, but overall, he's way below his averages for boards and blocks. I think Webb has as many blocks as him and Shareef combined.

The only reason Webber is scoring is because Iverson is running pick and roll with him 30-35 times a game. He is a complete liability on defense, watch the games.

philly will win 38 games this year - he is no superstar.

CWebb may no longer be a superstar, but he wouldn't make the Kings any worse at this point, and he's a better rebounder than Brad and Reef, if only because he has great hands.

And at this point, CWebb isn't the answer for the Kings. Kings need interior defense, and badly. Either at PF or C, doesn't matter which.

Agreed. We do have Skinner (and Sampson), but they aren't being used. I like SAR, was disappointed with him last night, but he was trying. Not on the boards though.

Yup. Help Wanted -- Big Guy.

Same problem we had entering last season IMO. Nobody big and scary to deter easy shots. Vlade was not perceived as a shot blocker, but his absence (at or near the top of his game) is what we miss the most. Believe it or not - I mean defensively. He was smart, and was bigger than we realized.

Webb was a major shotblocker when the two were in their prime too -- over 2 a game at one point. Together they were enoough, and then we broought in a big banger in Pollard off the bench who could also block a shot...or a body. Times have changed.

Don't forget, you can be a good shotblocker and be a crappy defender. Not saying that Brian is a crappy defender but Tag is a better one. Brian, if given the time is probably a better shotblocker, but Tag is going to change a lot more shots.

Shot blocking is a little overrated. Brad Miller sucks at blocking shots but there are ways for him to apply his efforts into being a better defender.
