heat inquiring about Artest and Bibby

Heat president and coach Pat Riley also has recently been involved in trade talks with other teams, with Sacramento guard Mike Bibby, Sacramento forward Ron Artest and Los Angeles Clippers forward Corey Maggette among those targeted.
Many of those players likely would command more than the $5.5 million (midlevel) or $1.8 million (biannual) salary-cap exceptions the Heat has available.
But there are less-expensive free agents at point guard and forward among a group that includes former Miami High standout Steve Blake, Chucky Atkins, Ruben Patterson, Morris Peterson and Jerry Stackhouse.

They dont really have anyone I even want. Haslem is the only guy, and even then I cant really say im a huge fan of him.

I would take Jason Kapono, (I think that's how it's spelled). He is a sharpshooter extraordinaire.

Hrm. Bibby and/or Artest or the likes of Chucky Atkins, Ruben Patterson, et al? I'm thinking it might get really interesting if Riley makes any kind of real offers.

:)

Kapono is gone AFAIK.

This is a potentially good situation, though. If we can dump Bibbys contract and rid ourselves of Artest it will be considered a good move by me. Miami doesn't have much we'd want, but I do really like Dorrell Wright, Simien would have to be thrown in if we were giving up both, as well as a future first rounder. And then we would have to get to making salaries work. But if we do deal with them, I can't see both Mike and Ron being included in the one deal.

One thing to consider? Take a less reasonable offer for either Bibby or Artest as long as they agree that they will take KT as part of the deal.

:)

There we have it! I was trying to figure out how to make it a fair trade for us and you just hit the nail on the head!

:D

Another thing to consider:

Pat Riley isnt Danny Ainge or Isiah Thomas....Not sure he'd bite at the thrilling trade throw in of an overpaid 6'7 PF with a long contract :p

Like Bibby, Artest, and KT for Shaq? :D

Um, no...

Bibby and KT ... OR Artest and KT ... for whatever Riley wants to give us as long as they're not older than 26 or so AND have reasonably good feet, knees, etc.

Don't be too sure.

If Riley can get Artest (arguably the better bargain of the two) and get rid of a couple of expirings or draft picks, he might easily consider taking KT as part of the "bargain."

I'm just talking off the top of my head here, but I think it's worth considering. Somebody else can go to realGM and find a way to make the numbers work.

:)

If Petrie is able to pull off an Artest/KT for expirings or draft picks I'll kiss his feet!

Then all he needs to do is package Bibby and Miller and we're set haha!

I don't know if he would be able to include KT. It makes everything alot more tricky. We would almost have to take back Haslem and I'm not sure Riley would want to give him up along with Wright and picks (which I want more than giving up KT).

Or we could trade Artest, KT for JWill, Doleac, Mourning (Dol and Mo are both enders) and Wright. Not sure if they would do that though.

I'd take and older guy only if it was an expiring deal. Other than that maybe D. Wright? I can't see anything else they have that we might be interested in.

if he had D-Wade, Shaq, and Artest on the same time, then KT might just be an afterthought to Riley and he wouldn't really care.

As for a trade for KT.. anybody that is still vertical is acceptable...

Both works on Real GM

Everyone we would get on either trade are enders except Haslem and I feel he would be an upgrade over KT and would be more easly traded later.

Maimi 1st priority is PG, mabe throw in a future draft pic from Miami?

I guess the question is which of Bibby and Artest would be easiest to trade. in a second trade? Maybe save Bibby for a trade for a quality PF.

Then hope for new PG following year in draft or FA

Considering not a lot of interest shown by many teams in either mike or ron do one of these, get rid of KT and free up salary

I would only think about trading Bibby to the Heat.

I don't like a package that would return to us for Artest...Sure Artest is apparently the all-evil cancer around these parts, but I want more than Williams and Wright for him...I want something like 50 cents to the dollar for him, not pennies.

As far as Bibby, his contract is in the way of a rebuild and to break it down into a Williams(ender)/Doleac(ender)/Wright combo would be worth it.

I would think it might be easier for us to do two deals packaging a good player with a bad such as Bibby and KT for ? and Artest and Miller for ? And, in that instance the easiest trade involving Artest would be to Miami where he'd have to comply with the wishes of a deeply entrenched, well respected coach in Pat Riley. Bibby would be easier to move to more potential locations.

trade Artest to the heat for a number 1 pick then whoever to match salaries and then bibby to the magic for darko and whatever fillers

Like Bibby, Artest, and KT for Shaq? :D

we don't need shaq if we're trying to rebuild getting shaq will send us back to the stone age, when cave men threw boulders to kill their prey, which is known today as basketball, the heat has a weak roster no one on the heat can improve us, nor do they have any good picks available for us.

The only player I would want are ones with expiring salaries, and I would want a draft pick (future 1st rounder).. Other than that they can go away. I know they want to win now, so they might be interested in taking on Bibby, or Artest while the Kings are doing the total opposite, and are looking to get rid of salary.

Well it had to hapen sooner or later... Gary and I are in compleet agreement on this one.

Not really a fan of taking on Haslem's contract but how about this for a 3 team deal?

Successful Scenario
Due to Sacramento, Miami, and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento, Miami, and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We also ask for Miami's first round pick next year. This way we trade Artest and get rid off Thomas for pretty much expiring deals and a talented young player, plus maybe a draft pick.

Miami gets Artest and is in market for a PG and Houston gets a PF to pair with Yao at the expense of a couple of expiring contracts.

I think I'd do this deal, as long we got a future 1st out of either Miami or Houston in the deal. As much as I's prefer not to deal Artest, I think the writing is on the wall with him that the team wants him gone. At least in this scenario we don't take on any long term salary and get a prospect to compete with Cisco at SF as well as a pick and move KT. Unless another team comes out of left field with a crazy offer for Artest I think this is about the best we could hope to do in a trade with him involved.
