Bruski's track record has been pretty good so far. It's a good sign for Sac in my opinion if the Maloofs have to try to come out and use the media to try to get the BOG to think twice. It means the Maloofs aren't confident things are leaning their way at this time.

Yep, and in usual George Maloof fashion, he thinks they can say anything and have the BoG believe it. The number of sponsors, season ticket holders, etc. who have come forth to show their support for the team and KJ and the new ownership group makes it clear to even the most myopic BoG member that the Maloofs have burned all their bridges in this regard. NOBODY wants them here. They know it but refuse to accept it. The BoG knows it and will act accordingly. The Kings will not belong to Maloof Sports and Entertainment after April. Bank on it.

That is what the Maloofs, and Hanson, would LOVE the BoG to think. The reality is, if the Maloofs DID hold on to the team, it would be TERRIBLE for the league. They would have a franchise that was hemorrhaging money. They would be no sponsors, no fans, etc. Even if the Maloofs could afford to do that, there is no way the league would allow them.

David Stern already said that once the Maloofs signed the deal to sell the team, they are no longer the decider of who gets the team in the end.

I remember around all star weekend, stern made it abundantly clear that once an owner signs off to sell their franchise, the decision is now in the hands of the BOG, not the former owners. The Magoofs have zero chance of keeping the kings. worse case would be the NBA takes over, like they did in new orleans. And we know how that ended up! New Orleans was sold to Tom Benson, because he was keeping them in New Orleans.

I guess we'll find out soon enough. It's in the best interest of the league to complete a sale. Just how much power they have to do that will be seen. I don't think at this point that the BOG will be influenced by any threat the Maloofs make.

If anything, this could have the effect of convincing undecided board members that they do not want anything further to do with the Maloofs. The Maloofs are acting with their usual bluster and bravado...and ignorance. David Stern made it crystal clear that they forfeited any say-so about the future of the Kings franchise when they accepted the offer from Seattle and submitted it to the NBA for approval. The Board of Governors is not going to let them continue to foul the waters. They (the Maloofs) have already done enough damage. I strongly suspect the actual vote is going to be a resounding indictment of their treatment of the city of Sacramento, the fans, their own employees, etc.

There are rumors floating around that timely paychecks are not always the rule of the day around STA recently. If MSE cannot even pay their employees on a timely basis, they certainly cannot hope to curry favor with the other NBA franchise owners.

Not to mention it makes Sacramento look better when they say that crap because that just shows that the Maloofs never wanted to keep the team here. But pretty much anyone with a beating heart already knew they never had any intention of keeping the team here.


I was looking back at what I said about the Anaheim deal, and knew for a fact that they were wanting to move the team to LA to inflate the price and sell shortly after to the Ducks owner when the TV/sponsor deal was already in place. I think back to when I texted that to grant and he basically shot it down saying that I had no idea what I was thinking and that I needed to "get a brain you moron". Or something to that effect.

I'll try and find it for you. It was during his press conference over all-star weekend and it was in direct response to a question from a reporter. I saw it myself and can verify it is true, but I can understand people wanting to see/hear it themselves. I'll try and find it again.

Man... It was a WAY WORSE situation back then. Back then we were trying to find any source we could find in regards to getting an arena thing done. It wasn't until the Meetings where KJ dropped the Burkle bomb that we really got excited here...

But look back at the differences between then and now. NOW we have an arena deal, buyers for the team ect ect. Back then we were talking about renovating Arco as a possible ploy to keep the Kings here. Back then we all thought something was wrong in regards to why an arena deal couldn't get done here and some people were sympathetic to the Maloofs.

How times change. This time though we do look like we are in a better position to keep the Kings. I was reading the tweets as well from back then and they were all "done deal" ect ect. The OC Register reporter (Youngman) was even more optimistic than the Daniels guy from Seattle. Funny stuff. I suggest people go back and read the stuff to put perspective on this situation.

Yes, I saw that quote. I know I am being very, very picky but lawyers get very, very picky. If that quote had said that if the Maloofs chose to keep the team in Sacramento and the BOG could nix that idea, I'd be far more comfortable.

As it is, the Maloofs are backed into a corner and I realize this. It seems most likely the Hansen/Ballmer deal will be stopped with the 8 or more votes necessary to stop it. The message will be that the only deal that will be accepted is the one creating a tsunami with multiple whales beaching off the coast; the one with Burkle/Mastrov/Ranadive/Jacobs.




As a change of subject (a little) Stern has wanted Burkle, Ranadive and the Jacobs clan as owners in the NBA for quite awhile and now he has a 3 for 1 deal looking him straight in the face. The Jacobs are motivated because they were heart broken when the Clippers left their home town of San Diego and they don't want to see it happen to another city. It seems at least 3 of the whales are motivated beyond merely the desire for profit. We are fortunate.

Isn't missing payroll one of the reported grounds for the league to take over? Untimely and missed payroll is awfully close. I left Sacramento nearly seventeen years ago, but what I recall is that the State of California doesn't take too kindly to late pay checks. One of our drivers took a detour with the paychecks and a state of panic ensued.

From what I've gathered, both from posts here at KF and from other sources, there are rumors running rampant about paychecks being delayed. No real details are forthcoming, however, most likely for one of two reasons: 1. The rumors are just that - rumors. or 2. The people involved need their paychecks - late or not - and making too much of this might cost them their jobs.

David Stern is a very smart man and a lawyer who chooses his words carefully. It's pretty clear what he meant when he made that comment. You can also take "where it's located" to mean with what ownership group, as in "ownership of the Kings will lie with the Sacramento investment group" or, alternatively, "ownership of the Kings will lie with the Seattle investment group." Bottom line is that the Maloofs will not be deciding the fate of the Kings. They already played that card. It's up to the BoG to do the rest.

Yep. One of the guys who was moved even said he got his tickets directly from Gavin. Thanks to Mike from CrownDowntown, the picture of the Lakers was tweeted to all his followers and retweeted to any number of other Kings fans. It was shortly thereafter, according to the CrownDowntown Facebook page, that the Lakers fans were moved to seats by the bench and the Kings fans were put into the Maloof seats.
