In Minneapolis, either the TWolves or Twins next year will start all their home games at 7:11pm.............. as result of $1/2million deal with the 7-11 Store chain. Heard on ESPN radio Wednesday on Dan Patrick Show.

Not THAT is way cool. :p :) And cheap advertising either way.

its a cool idea, but i dont think they benefit fiscally.

Erm, what? You did read the part of CruzDude's post where he says they signed a $500,000 deal with 7-11 for this, right?

That's a financial benefit.

yes obviously they benefit that absolut huge amount, especailly for there arganxziation .5 million will defintiley be extremely benefitual...not
what i meant was that, 711's have actually been going down in business for a long time and thus not a huge amunt of ppl will be going in to 711 and hearing about this promo, so yes im sure 711 will benefit becasue some ppl from the games may go there, but i meant that the organization wont benfit much from attracting new aduiecnes, like if they did a promo where they give away toy figures in happy meal, then maybe kids will wnat to go to the game, or something like that, overall i just think 711 are lame and it wont beenfit the teams much other than the whopping .5 million u speak of

Yeah, okay...

whatever.

You aren't serious, right? Have you ever heard of the concept of "name recognition" advertising? I'm guessing no.

711's are getting hurt because people are buying their snacks off of the internet now. Why should I go all the way to 711 to buy a coke when I could just get it off of Amazon, put it on my credit card, get it delivered to my house, pop it in the refridgerator for a several quick hours and voila, I've got a soda .

Also, teens now loiter online.:D

Good lord. It's as bad as Joe Getty has said. We are becoming a nation of veal calves.

do people actually do that? shoot, when i want a snack, i go get a snack. i ain't waitin' on ups to deliver it...

Same here, Padrino. Hell, there are two 7-11's within a quarter mile of my house, and a supermarket across the street, not to mention a McDonald's, Subway, Popeye's, Ruby Tuesday's, Pizza Hut, and two Chinese restaurants, all within easy walking distance; in the time it'd take me to get online and order some food, I can walk to the store and come back.

the white sox are doing this, too.

all their night home games will start at 7:11 (not sure if it's all home games or just home weekend games.)

and i think i heard they said that they will give away 25,000 free slurpies if the white sox win. pretty cool.

I like the 7:11 start time actually. That means we PST people get to see a little more of those EST games with 4pm starts.

True Gargamel story: A 7/11 clerk once accused me of refilling my Super Big Gulp w/o paying whilst I was loitering around watching the other teenies play Street Fighter after school. He must've been snorting his curry powder to confuse me w/ somebody with an 88 oz bladder.
