Can I go down on record as the first guy to start the T Will = Jim Jackson comparison? And proud of Tyreke, ya'll got low blows to take and all, but honestly proud to see him do his thing in a win. T Will/Tyreke sg/sf looks scary, even with IT being undersized the legnth and power of these two is downgright nasty.

Not to mention they play DEFENSE!
I saw enough from the Nets game to suggest this could be an awesome pairing going forward, provided of course T-Will is not just playing for a contract and as such is keeping on straight and narrow. There is some risk in re-signing him but boy is he a great fit next to Reke. Get a great shooter and a competent defender next to those guys and we could really cause some issues for opposition teams both offensively and defensively.

T-Will is showing the Christie type potential for us (long way to go but the skill set is similar) and ever since we drafted Tyreke we have said that a young Doug Christie would be a perfect fit next to Tyreke. We might have just found one ourselves.

In the good old days Petrie was able to pick up good, key players for us on the cheap (Bobby Jackson, Pollard) so hopefully he has re-discovered some touch with Williams.

It was just yesterday when I was saying how much our team would be transformed by a stud SF defender.

Now, Twill may not be an actual SF, and he may not be an actual stud defender, but he does defend well, damn well, and he does play something like SF on our team... and wa-la. And, I mentioned that player needed to know how to play team ball and pass... his attacking the basket is really just a positive. What I think is the biggest boon about him is simply that he can just play. That's really all there is to it. I honestly don't think it requires more analysis than that. We just didn't have anybody in that SF slot who would step up and be a baller and who could defend SFs/multiple positions... it was so empty that Tyreke got pulled into the vacuum. Now Twill's holdning it down with just being a good player who plays tough, makes good decisions, plays team ball, and defends... it then frees up Reke to be Reke on offense and defense. It seems like a little thing, but it's making a big difference.

Why can't T-Will be our SF? He is 6'6 with incredible athleticism and strength, I don't see him having a problem defending SFs. He is pretty similar to AI2, and I doubt many of you would turn down the opportunity for him to play SF for us.

That's what I'm hoping weans Smart off Tyreke at the 3. Tyreke at the two, Jimmer/IT at the one, Twill at the three, JT, Cuz. Still small-ish... but not horrendous defensively. Now if Hassan the Dream will just fulfill his potential we'll have our very own homegrown big time monster shot blocker to pair with Cuz.

That is the lineup I want most as well, and I really don't think it is that small of a lineup. It really is pretty comparable to the 76ers in size, and they've been having a great year.

And Hassan had some great burn tonight, probably the best I've seen him play. He didn't fill up the stat sheet, but he was an obvious influence in the paint.

TWill played SF in college I think and also was drafted as an SF. He's not really undersized, he's 6'6'' 220 and has a lot of strength. That's about the same size as a guy like Paul Pierce, except maybe 5-10 lbs lighter. Also similar size to Iguodala, Richard Jefferson, etc. I like his game a lot, he might actually be able to stick as a SF here. Only thing is he doesn't have much range on his J.

I like IT starting, He sets the pace nicely. But with T-Will's playmaking skills, which are probably jut as good as anyone on the team (bold statement i know). Maybe we can retry a lineup of. ((Reke,MT,T-Will,JT,Cuz))... When Reke was at PG our biggest complaint was we werent moving the ball enough on offense. Well now we have a SF that is just as good of a passer/offense initiator as Reke is, if not better... This may help Reke out at PG by T-Will sharing the ball distributing duties.

This way we retain Rekes size advantage at the 1, and we dont really lose alot of passing because of T-Will helping out.

Also I think MT is a great fit with these two because of his catch and shoot ability, he would be getting alot of open looks from drive and kicks..

IT could be our 6th man pace changer kinda like (Barea).. Although he's played well starting, I think he would do just as well in this role.

Just some thoughts..

Also think one of Williams' undervalued contributions is his rebounding. It really helps us out especially when we have smaller lineups out there, Chuck Hayes etc. When Jimmer's shot becomes more consistent and he gets better I think a Jimmer/Tyreke/Twill combo will be very effective. Thomas did a nice job too.

Williams is just a stat sheet filler, just like Evans. He does a bit of everything and and just does everything out there. His talent has never been doubted but its the "other things" that have seen him wear out his welcome with a couple of teams.

Hopefully its a case of just growing up and maturing in the process. If it has "clicked" with him, he could be a very good player in this league. A 2 way player that does a bit of everything. He has been a great pick up so far.

From what I understand is he felt a bit of entitlement. He came late to practices and missed some. I am sure there were other issues in a similar vein. He did not have a coach like Smart who might look further into the problem and because he wasn't a super star, perhaps was more of a bother than anything else.

In an interview before a game he said that what he had learned from the process of the last month is to shut up amd play ball. He came close to losing his career and the reality of that has had an impression. Throw in a more understanding coach and a whole bunch of guys similar in age and he is in a better situation. Bottom line is that fear can be a powerful motivator and he knows he cannot fail with the Kings or he is in major trouble as to his career. He is intelligent enough to understand and is a very likeable guy. We are lucky to have him.

Did I mention he might gently move us away from small ball? Wishful thinking I suppose. :)

Wishful indeed, for as mentioned somewhere Smart said in his postgame interview that he can play Tyreke at the 4 a little. Sigh. Next year's starting lineup: IT/Jimmer/Thornton/Evans/Cousins

love the gif. lol

i liked what t will had to say in the post game interview, about how theres a lot of other better shooters out there and because of that he feels that his job is to set them up. Exactly the kind of player we need in the starting lineup next to reke/cousins and his being paired with reke size-wize cant hurt us that much imo.

Who's most apt to sustain this level of play for tommorow's game?

Good question. And that gets right to the heart of one of our problems: sustaining positive performances. I could guess but I didn't because it hasn't happened consistently for any of them. Please send the poll results to the Kings.

Please no.

Why no rating for the western conference rookie of the month for the second straight month? This seems to be a deliberate and condescending omission.

T Williams could lead the team in any category but scoring with enough minutes. Patino called him a "freak of nature." He could lead in tipped passes, best underhanded passes, outrageous rebounds he shouldn't get, best leap into the stands, dived for balls, most ahletic fouls, etc. If his atitude continues to be positive he is the kind of player team's can win with. And he can play the 1,2 or 3 to fit in with an assortment of line-ups. I noticed his mention of blessings, and the word God tatooed on his shoulder. Thomas also is a man of faith. IT may be the best thing that has ever happened to TWill in the NBA. I belive the intangible players that care about each other stuff is not BS. The Kings are starting to have some good juju. Thomas and Williams go back to the playgrounds of Seattle.

Correction: Smart may lead us away from small ball with Williams.
Well, it would still be a three guard lineup, but there would at least be decent size among 2/3 of the guards, which would certainly be better and allow for more defensive flexibility.

I think he meant in certain spots with certain line-ups.
I wonder if there are certain spots where he would run a lineup of Williams/Tyreke/Donte/JT/Cousins. I doubt if his mind even operates that way. Or, if by luck we hit it lucky, insert Davis or Robinson for JT. There's a lot of athleticism in that lineup.

Ooh that line up looks good! I'd like to see that, and then I'd like to see Hassan subbed in for JT. 6 minutes of each, for a quarter.

Cuz
Hassan
Donte
Tyreke
Twill

That's some serious defense.
