Grades v. Wolves 03/14/10

That play is about the spectacle not the assist, fans love the alley-oop for the big throw down.

Of course, and normally I would be just as excited. I'm just saying that Tyreke doesn't do that in normal circumstances. He takes the ball all the way even when there's a wide open teammate next to him. Personally I have nothing against that type of stat padding (as long as it doesn't get in the way of your team's play, stat-pad as much as you want). I'm just saying that I wouldn't use this as an example of particularly unselfish play.

I think the difference with Evans and Nash's ability to get assists is the nature of shots that they create. Evans gets his assists by passing out of double teams for open shots, but they are usually 3s or in any case a jumpshot, which has a lower % chance of going in. Nash easily gets 5-6 assists a game just running the pick and roll with Stoudemire... and Amare ain't gonna miss open dunks the way Casspi and Noc brick 3s.

But he got over 10 assists WHILE team mates missed a couple of shots. I'm not complaining

Omri was just doing his job, rebounding! That's what a SF is supposed to do. Not play silly "fill someone elses statsheet" game. Tyreke's a better physical specimen who doesn't jump shoot much wheras Omri is a jumpshooter and rebounder all the time and his rookie legs are tired, really tired. Rookie wall.

So let this silliness of triple-doubles and tryeke-omri go away NOW! 29/11/9 and 29/10/10 are the same in the overall scheme of things for the Kings and Tyreke.

^^^ agree with you
casspi just went for the rebound without thinking
kings is playing for the win or to let tyreke get statistic.
if they wanted tyreke to get the triple dobble they should of let him play the next 6 minutes
casspi was great in those little 18 minutes

Tyreke actually did have 10 reb, for whatever reason he was not credited with an offensive reb off his own miss and a Jason Thompson tip (to keep the ball away from the Twolves and in the direction to 'Reke) early in the 4th Q (unless I'm not understanding the rules right as to who should get credited)
F to Grant and Jerry for even throwing out the option of 'Reke being insterted back into the game after he was taken out just to get the 10th reb.

Ref's ruled that a controlled tip by JT to Evans for the putback. You can see on the video that JT taps it out to Evans. So, they got the call right. Besides, one rebound short of a trip dub is nothing to be ashamed of. We should be talking about 'REKE's improved outside shot! He was nailing the jumpers and the T-Wolves didn't know what to do because the scouting report said to give him the jumper. They left him wide open, and 'Reke did what he was supposed to do, drain those jumpers. WHEN he can do that on a regular basis, he will be almost unguardable. If the defender has to play him for the jumper, he'll beat his man easier and be looking for the second defender sooner, and he will score more layups or get fouled. I am stoked about the way Evans and Greene played! Great ally oop! I count that as getting other players involved. I don't think Evans even knew about a Trip Dub till the 4th when it was obvious to all. Beno had a good game too. Casspi is obviously out of gas. He now knows that he needs to work on stamina in the off season. Hawes continues to go sideways in his development. Makes great plays and follows them up with rookie mistakes. TOO Inconsistent! He needs to worry more about rebounds and interior defense and worry less about scoring. JT played pretty good. At least he wasn't in foul trouble. He had 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots! That is what we need from JT, solid work in the paint and the occasional jumper on the elbow. It would be nice if they could do the same to the Fakers who are coming to town on Tuesday! Go Kings! Evans IS ROY!

Just looked at the game thread, you weren't kidding. That rebound came right to Omri and he didnt see Tyreke coming either. There's no reason to be upset at Omri. If you want to blame anyone for Tyreke not getting the triple double, you can blame Westpaul for not playing him just another minute so he could get that last rebound.

Definitely it would be nice to see him get another triple double but...

No one is to blame. If he got 39 min of playing time and he can't get it done, so be it. Last thing you want is for him to play a game that already won and gets hurt.

If Evans want it, he have to earn it. Expecting any of our other players to move aside for him to pad his stat is ridiculous. Even if....

I'm glad Evans doesn't have the same attitude as some of our fans. He got the heart of a champion.

We're beginning to look and feel like the Zombie Sonics/Trailblazers in the seasons before they became playoff contenders. I don't think we're quite there yet, although grabbing a couple of contributors this offseason could get us there. But we are at least competitive every night, we can handle the bad teams, we'll give the good teams trouble and can upset them if they don't bring their A game, and Arco Arena is rocking again. I want us to get a good pick in the draft this summer, but I want to see us send the Lakers packing tomorrow night. Very possible, second night of a road back to back for a team that's had trouble on the road lately and is weary from playing two long seasons in a row + the Olympics. Anyways, I'm feeling good about our future at this point. Reke is amazing. The chemistry that was there at the beginning of the season is back. If Omri and Cisco can figure their roles out in the next month, it would be a really good close for an up-and-down season.

Well hopefully we're in the Blazers mold where a later pick in the first round becomes ROY and we follow that up by winning the lottery the next year when we should be picking 5th or 6th.

I don't want to be greedy so I'll even settle for the runner up prize and the second pick.

I don't want to be in the Blazer mode because then our umber one pick's knee would implode in a freak accident.

I’d be seriously disappointed in the Kings fans if people would want to put 2 of our young players against each other. Especially since they have proven before that they work/rely/help each other.

I can’t wait for Jon Brockman’s return.

yes!

and then Kenny Thomas, Kevin Salvadori and Jabari Smith for that center-guy from Orlando (or perhaps we could slum it with that center-guy on the Bucks)
