Lowest scoring 1st half in the history of our team tonight.

NO ONE GETS A PASSING GRADE WITH THIS GARBAGE...

I didn't expect us to win this game, but come on, make a damn layup.

How did our team get here?!!...

Great rebuilding plan, Petrie.

and to think, people actually considered you to be one of the best GMs around just a few years ago, what a joke..

WTH, Mikki Moore cashed in 17 mil US$ from your team last summer ?? Scola got paid for just 10 mil 3 yrs -while having to pay part of his buy out, Oberto was signed in 05 for just 5 mil 2 yrs -2nd yr player option, and Elson was signed for a mere 10 mil 3 yrs in 06 -3rd yr team option. Unbelievable robbery !!

No way they would sign contracts with Kings for peanuts .... We have a bad team and small market. We have to pay MORE ... unfortunately.

who's up for putting orien greene at PF?

Douby's the better rebounder.

Seriously, looking over the first couple of games, I don't think we need to lose them so humiliatingly. This:

1. Salmons
2. Martin
3. Garcia
4. Miller
5. Watkins

...should limit us to mere losses, rather than losses which break 50 year old records. Then the next problem is that our bench is limited to Quincy and Mikki, but hopefully Justin and Beno will be ready to play soon. Then Artest will come back, and we'll have something like a real team again, even if it's a rather weak real team. But that's quite a bit better than what we have now.

Actually no. It's not that Miki was flooded with offers. At least I didn't read about competition for his services.

The bigger question is, did we need to pay at all? We were all hoping for a rebuild, and the first step for that was to not sign vets. Only reason for bringing in a low paid one would have been to teach the kids something, and provide leadership. Clearly, Miki was not brought in for that.

While we might never know, I suspect there was a rather sudden change of heart about the rebuild. Petrie was talking rebuild. We let our expiring come off the books last year (if we were planning to add salary, we might have done better by trading some of our expirings for someone better than Miki). We were kind of quiet on the signing front for a while, and there were rumours about trading some of our guys from time to time.

Suddenly, we went out and signed him to an outrageous contract. Lot of us (myself included) have been light on Petrie, transfering the blame to the owners, but damn, if they are cajoling him to give this group one more chance to compete for the playoffs, he needs to stand up to them, and ask them to either listen to him, or fire him. This is hoping that he himself is not thinking like that.

Nice post. When we signed Moore, I remember many of us saying, "Okay, we have to be trading away some veteran bigs now, because otherwise this would make no sense at all." And I think that few of us have changed our minds since then.

I have also noticed that he has bad hands -- sort of anti-Webber hands when he tries to board. He's fairly active, and wil get a hand on quite a few balls, but he rarely comes down with them. Some of that may be the lack of strength, but I think its more than that. Some people just have a knack. He does not.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed how balls hit him in the hands and bounce off. He cannot seem to catch it with one hand. I have also never seen a big man with such terrible moves around the basket. Is Jason Kidd really that good, to get this guy to lead the league in FG%?

Actually it was not about Moore at all .... but about Scola or other hot European newcomers.

I don't think I understood your post. We didn't pursue any good, young guys. We went after Miki, who was looking for his payday as desperately as we were for a young PF who could defend and rebound.

Incidentally, since the end of the season, Spurs have given away Jackie Butler, Beno, rights to Scola and cash for one of the last second round draft pick, to save tax. If we were willing to add salary this year, shouldn't we have offered one of our expiring contracts last year. Hell, we might have even managed to pull in a draft pick.

absolutely

So I have been known as a K9 apologist on this board. Having said that, the dude deserves to be picking splinters out of his butt. His play has been nothing short of awful.

Unlike most others around here, I have never doubted is effort and hustle as I have seen him work very hard on the court. I have seen his ability to get to loose balls faster than just about anyone on the team. In years past, I have seen his ability to be nearly a 10 and 10 guy.

Those days are over it seems. while he is still fast, you simply cannot have the guy touch the ball. It will turn into either a turnover or a brick from less than 5 feet. Not to mention a compete inability to shoot free throws.

I think that maybe we should just play 4 guys and just forget the PF position altogether as MM and SAR are really no better.
