yeah seriously i was just waiting for him to foul out. he was doing nothing and i wanted him out of there. if rick didn't want to get him out, i'm glad he was forced to do so.

To be fair to Kenny sure he was not hitting tonight and was by no streach a Duncan stoper, but he DID use his fouls well hitting Duncan BEFORE the shot which given TD's 50% from the line shooting menat saving 6 points.

Definitely. Statistics, percentages...yeah, it's important, but he made the right decision to pass after a great physical play to strip Ginobli (whom I was pleased to see tonight didn't have the officials in the palm of his hand). This coming with Bibby playing the full 48 mins.

Not just b/c Kings won, but I loved the finish to this one b/c the officiating crew let it go--it could have been a foul called on the strip of Ginobli, and it could've been a foul called on the Martin layup. LET 'EM PLAY!

Ah, but it's the play-offs, win or go home. Game winners should count for at least a bump in grade to an A. Grading scale be dammed.

true. atleast he did not give up and 1s! seemed like he racked up 3 fouls in like 3 minutes before he fouled out. just got ugly there for a while with him. + not hitting his FTs when the spurs made their 3rd quarter run was crucial. just a poor outing from him. at least we got the W.

he ran the court hard, had the guts to go up against tim duncan, got fouled, AND made the basket. i also think mike was great because he could have taken it himself, him being mr.clutch and all, but he went with martin and it worked out perfectly. gotta love the kings baby

Wow, LOL, that reminds me of the guy who wrote in to ESPN complaining that the footage of the high school student with autism making three-pointers didn't include his airballs! I enjoy reading the game-by-game grades, but man, let's cut K-Mart, a guy who saves the season with a clutch play, a little break here, haha. Maybe there could be a curve to the playoff grading scale, heh

As for the rest, if you have a fan doing the grades, its either all As or all Fs every night. Which gets rather silly after a while. So I choose lawyer.

Agree...people simply aren't objective enough - even a miracle layup doesn't erase a game in which Martin seemed almost non-existant.

Wow, what game. I really have to hand it to Bibby, he played solid defense all night. Artest and Bonzi made the cannonball offense look great. It's a true measure of jus how great Artest is on defense that Artest can basically guard everyone on the Spurs, but Bowen can't even guard Artest. No idea where Reef went, but if he had played even remotely like he did the other night, this one wouldn't have been close.

And Kevin Martin. Holy crap.

Reef ( D ) -- very very quiet followup game to the big night in San Antonio unable to get anything going in the first half, and quickly got himself in major foul trouble. Ended up playing only 6 minutes before having to sit the rest of the half out. And after retunring int he second half, just wasn't effective, on either side of the court really. The real Tim Duncan reappeared for this one, and all of a sudden neither Reef's offense nor defense posed much of a problem for TD.
Martin ( B ) -- slow start, but had a nice little burst in the second quarter, stealing a lazy inbounds pass for the breakaway, and coming back with the hustle play a few seconds later. Racked up a lot of minutes this time out as Rick resorted to playing much of the game small. Got the real surprise call in the final 4 minutes as Kenny fouled out trying to guard Duncan, and rather than bringing in Reef, we instead turned to Kevin as we went back mini lineup again. Looked like the wrong call as the game was ready to slip away from us, but suddenly we got our miracle finish as Mike stole the ball, and hit Kevin in stride on the dead run for a tough finish over Duncan. Dramatic finishing play enlived an otherwise decent but unexceptional outing.

Agree with everything up until this point.

First, my opinion on the Martin grade is that it was too low. He showed up with a lot of heart this series.

Second, I agree with the grade on Reef. Just disagree on the reasoning. He got two tickie-tack fouls in the first 6 minute stretch that had nothing to do with "the real Tim Duncan". He fouled again in his second stint coming on help-side 4 minutes into the flow of the quarter. He got the ball three times in the post in those stints on the floor scored on one and looked poor on the others, but I hardly think that you can say that was due to anything. Not enough of a sample size. By your reasoning, the real Tim Duncan hasn't played against Shareef all year long.

I couldn't believe that Bibby can actually play defense until that steal. He played a great game. Kevin Martin definitely got his name out there finishing that miracle shot. Henceforth, people will know there is another Kmart other than the PF Kmart. Haha

^^ even though i don't like calling kevin "k-mart", our "k-mart" is having more of a positive impact than their "k-mart" who was suspended indefinitely for "conduct detrimental to the team."
