Cousins at media event at practice: Let's be honest, a lot of technicals I receive aren't really technicals. I can't really say what I can do differently. Maybe just not show up for the game.

I couldn't hear very well but wasn't there a question about Malone fighting his battles for him? Then Boogie smiled. Of course the "fighting for him" didn't work as Boogie charged in to help Malone with the fight. :) I don't know what he thought he was doing but he was as angry as I have seen in a very long time.

Does anyone have a video of the "fight." Or has it been posted and I missed it?

I don't know if it's on the web but they showed it during the game last night. It all happened during a commercial break. After the break Comcast showed the lead-up: Malone and some assistants huddled up with the refs during the timeout with Malone absolutely chewing them out left right and backwards trying to get a technical. But they gave Malone so much rope that DeMarcus had time to come over and join into the yelling match (and got the insta-ban when he did).

Well, last night he didn't really show up for the game and he still got 2 T's so I don't think that plan would work out well DMC! I also see that he's back to making excuses after his apologetic Twitter post.

Don't get me wrong, Cousins is by far my favorite King. I do think he gets reputation techs, but last night was all his own doing. He needs to just shut the **** up and play. Jawing up the refs isn't going to stop Dwight and Harden from getting superstar calls.

Kayte C was saying on the radio after the game that it was clear Malone was trying to get a tech, but he couldn't seem to get one before DMC did.

I saw that but wasn't paying close attention. I know Malone must have been on the verge of a tech. The quick impression I got was that Boogie got caught up in the excitement of going to war with his coach. Hell, I don't know what goes on with him at times. I always defend him and I'm not going to crucify him over this one as I think he has been far more decent this year as the first three years. Yes, he gets techs but I also see the refs watch him for a reaction and I don't know what to make of it. I don't mind the techs half as much as the arguing or the blue funk he gets into.

As to other comments that he wasn't focused on the game, he had the best stats up to that time and in another note I said Ben and IT should be happy Boogie is drawing all the attention as they had lousy games. Look at the stats. Cousins outscored them both and had a much better shooting percentage.

I have no doubt he was trying to draw a tech. I need to teach Malone some magic vocabulary so he gets them quicker. :)

No words needed.

I have watched almost every game this year and while I haven't seen every T that Cousins has been given I have seen most of them and I haven't ever seen one where I didn't think he deserved it. He is big, loud, strong and demonstrative. All good qualities if you are an NBA big man but he has earned every T I have seen him get this year because of it.

He is always barking at the officials even when he just lost the ball or lost his balance or tried to run a guy over. Almost every time he shoots he turns and looks at the official and makes some sort of gesture about how their should have been a foul called. I know he feels picked on but I just don't see it. He is a big jerk on court and NBA officals are only going to put up with so much. The fact that he thinks that it isn't hi fault is a major, major concern.

I honestly think the best thing for Cousins is for the team to impose a zero tolerance to talking to officials, his rep is bad enough he just needs to stay quiet. All he does is get frustrated and waste energy, I mean talking as much as he does to officals is not easy, it's energy consuming something he does not have a lot of in general.

I don't get why they just don't tell the players the coach will do talk to the offical not you. Him and JT just can't controll themselves.

Great post, it's like everytime he misses of stuffs up he blames the offical, the dude is one of the league leader s in FTA, no one is picking on him.

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." This applies to Cousins

Malone is an embarrassment to New Yorkers everywhere. The first words an infant from Queens learns wouldn't pass the profanity filter around here, and yet he can't muster up the magic words to get himself a ****ing technical on demand? :p

i was so distracted by the game being so horrible and DeMarcus pissing me off, that i almost forgot how bad IT was
Because IT was double teamed the whole game? He'll have to learn how to avoid the double team in the future, but unless players are insanely strong, they usually can't fight through them

Abso-****in-lutely!!!! If a Minnesotan needs to teach a New Yorker how to get a tech, there is something out of tilt with the universe.

After hearing Reggie Evens interviewed today on the radio,...he's a leader. Awesome passion and work ethic.

I love having guys like him and Quincy Acy on this team. Those are guys who "get it" and know how to take intelligent passion and toughness on the floor. It is possible to be composed, rough, tough, and a "sportsman". These guys prove it.

Evens and Acy. I'll take those guys on my side everytime

At about 5:00 left in the first quarter, Cousins was along the sidelines dribbling the ball. He then did a handoff to McLemore along the sidelines. In the meantime, McLemore's defender - Harden - followed him and then threw Cousins down on the court like a trash can. And I mean threw. Cousins slammed to the floor, looked up at the ref who was (no kidding) within two feet of him along the sidelines. No foul was called. The ref was looking at the ball, not at Harden slamming Cousins to the floor. So now Cuz is on the floor literally looking up at the ref with his hands outstretched, seemingly saying, "What the F****".

This Gill guy called into Grant's show just now and praised Grant and suggested Grant is the guy DMC will listen to. Grant was in disbelief lol.

By no means does this justify Cousins' actions last night, but if a team was going to get under his skin so thoroughly that he gets himself thrown out of the game, I'm not surprised it was this team. Harden has built his career on playing the refs and the kinds of things he gets away with on the basketball court would drive even mild-mannered people into a rage.

For instance, guess who got called for a foul on this play? Hint: nobody on the Houston Rockets.

I will respectfully disagree. While most of his technicals have in fact been earned, there have been at least two or three that were totally done in anticipation of what the official thought DMC was going to do next. Preemptive technicals are wrong, but it's especially irritating when you see an official calling it because of a player's reputation.

I wish the FO would refuse to allow DMC to speak to the media at practices or in other situations where he's going to end up saying what most perceive as "the wrong thing"... Our own local media pundits delight in setting DMC up just to see what they can get him to say. It's shoddy and it's distasteful. Much like "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"

I was glad to see Corliss right there. I sincerely hope Corliss, Reggie Evans and Rudy Gay will be able to get through to Demarcus that he's got to find a way to manage the anger issues. Hell, at this point I'd even consider bringing Ron Artest on board. After all, Ron found a way to deal with his anger issues.

No, I didn't. I tuned in just now after hearing posters here praise Reggie's interview. Hopefully the recording will be up later tonight.

Definitely listen to it if you can. He gives an extended rundown of his workout routine and explains how he's been able to carve out a place for himself in the NBA with pure passion and hard work. The guy is a real trooper.

Glad to have a quality guy like him on the team. Total blue collar work ethic. Has earned everything he's accomplished

Grant is hilarious. "If you're going to crash your bike, crash your bike into a school you don't like. Ok, I was just kidding."

"For all of you out there wanting to talk about the Kings,...because we haven't done enough of that already for the last 4 hours....I've got good news for you. We've got Kings-Talk next"

LOL

If Cousins is going to get thrown out of the game, the least he could do would be slam into an opposing player (like Harden) and put him on his butt. Getting thrown out yelling at refs is the worst of all worlds as far as I am concerned. You leave no lasting mark on the opposing team other than a smile on their face. Harden got the best of Cousins, by far, in this little competition: Cousins is the cry baby and Harden is the winner.

Oh agreed. I think Cousins wanted to teach Harden a lesson in this game and it ended up working the opposite way, with Cousins being pulled screaming into the tunnel while Harden smiled smugly on the bench. Which just goes to show, there's a smart way to go about making your point and there's a dumb way. Cousins is always complaining that there's a false perception of him which leads to refs calling phantom fouls that they wouldn't call on anyone else. I wouldn't want to be the one to explain this to DeMarcus, but Harden pulls this same bs on everybody and he usually gets away with it because he's subtle and quiet about it. It really goes both ways for Cousins. He has a perception that everyone is out to get him and it leads him into over-reacting at times or in this case, completely losing his composure. Sometimes there really is a false-perception which hurts him and sometimes it's his imagination that hurts him more.

He's got to grow past the persecution complex and just accept that life is never going to be fair. The important thing for Cousins to realize is -- if you go out there and do your job, there's not a lot of other players that can stop you. It seemed like he was getting that this season. He's had a bug up his ass since the All Star break though which maybe has something to do with being snubbed and maybe has something to do with sticking up for his budy Marcus Thornton and maybe has something to do with the team committing to "development" the rest of the season. I'm not sure what it is really, but he's looked like he's angling for a fight since we came back from the break and it just boiled over last night into a complete meltdown. We'll see how everyone responds this time. It gets a little tiresome but again, I don't think we can afford to give up on a player that talented when we really have nothing else going right now.
