Hold on everyone, we a team now even if
Cuz is out sick and the season is not yet a quarter over. We will take the same crew out on the floor and play. We need play to win and win some. Let's hope the losing streak doesn't last much longer. Managing the team at a time like this is tough but I do think we have a good crew to deal with our current problems which are simply described - we need to score more than the other team in most games.

No, no, no. We're a defensive minded team now. It's more like... "we need to prevent the opposing team from scoring more than us in most games." :p

Subtle difference, but the mindset is everything ;)

I'm not so sure it is a guy we trade for.

McLemore seems to be developing into a Peja esque player who can be a good scorer, but can do so without being ball dominant. If he get's anywhere near Peja's level, he's easily a third option type guy. However, we'll still need someone off the bench who can handle the ball and score when Gay and Cousins are taking a breather. To me, Stauskas can become this player. I've pegged him as a Ginobli esque player coming out of college. Good size, smart player, deceptive quickness, great shooter, good ball handler, good passer, good in the pick n roll... These are all skills he showed in college. If both of our SGs develop and reach their potential, you'll have your 3rd option/off the ball/sharpshooter (McLemore) and your sixth man/4th option (Stauskas) who can take on a lot of the ball handling duties in the second unit and provide some scoring and playmaking

Of course, both players still have a long ways to go, but you can see how these two could fit into the grand scheme of things and help us push the team to the next level. Obviously, if you can sign a veteran/third option with the cap space we have in the next year or two, you do it, but it's exciting to think about how good this team could be if these two develop and reach their potential.

I completely agree. However this still leaves you with a big hole at backup PF/C. The problem you run into is you will either run Cuz and JT out of gas or you are locked into bringing in undersized options off the bench. It is true that the back court issues may solve themselves, but we have no young big coming into his own in the front court. That is where PDA needs to step in and acquire a big thru trade. Evans, Landry, and Williams are not great pieces to trade but perhaps someone looking for a steady veteran inside presence would take Landry and either Evans or Williams in a trade. We need a defensive big who can rebound. We have plenty of scoring but lack that rotation big to spell JT and Cuz every night. And when Cuz goes to the bench the team drastically decreases their defensive ability. If there was a solid veteran big or even an active young big to rotate in this team would be firing on all cylinders

That's correct. I don't think Hollins can be the big man behind DMC. I wouldn't mind one of the Plumlee bros., but they obviously are not available. One of the Zeller bros. (or Mayers Leonard) would also be good and potentially available. They are tall and hard working guys (and relatively fast). They would also be in the right price range.

That's okay. We have Sim Bhullar.

watching Knicks vs Cavs right now, and i can't help but think we would be better off with Quincy Acy in the front court than some of the guys we have been using

Not me. I don't actually believe that Acy can play on this team the way he's playing on that team. You know what we have that the Knicks don't? A beast taking up real estate in the post. We're not running the triangle, we don't have a cadre of soft, prissy jump-shooting big men. This isn't like bringing Landry back, with a different coach, and a different system, with different personnel. We already know what Acy looks like in Malone's system. Ineffective, is what he looks like.

On New York's roster, he's like option 4/5 in their pecking order because their front court is quite frankly one of the worst three in the NBA.

With us, he'd never get past Boogie, JT, Landry, and even Evans in the pecking order because he doesn't do anything one of those four couldn't do. He's getting a lot of minutes on the Knicks roster because the only other guys competing with him are old, inefficient Amar'e and older but just as stupid as before Samuel Dalembert.

Acy could have been an answer to defending stretch 4's (which none of those can do), he's done a excellent job this season for them in that role, he would rarely see time I agree but when the other team has a stretch 4 going off on us than Acy could have been that guy to come in. That's basically the only thing that's going to keep him in the NBA imo plus it's not like he's getting shots in NY he would not get here and that's tips in around the rim and wide open mid range jumpers.

We've got an ongoing discussion of Acy in the NBA forum. Perhaps it would be better to continue this over there.
