Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Alrighty then, 0-4 on the roadtrip it is.
10-35. Playoffs now even mathematically out of the question. Will be 10-37 in a few days and in position to seriously threaten the Sacramento era franchise record low for wins. The good news is that when we beat Dallas and Golden State (and how embarrassed must they be at this point) we did eliminate the possibility of us catching the 9-73 '72 (I think it was) Sixers team for worst of all time.
And hey, what are you going to do? Second half collapse. Blowout loss to the second worst team in the East, with the two best teams in the East coming up next...Pretty Girls it is! As I was caught a bit unprepared here, this will be More Pretty Girls Errata.
And as an aside, the blowout on Tuesday will then be 10 Best SFs in Kings History, and the blowout on Wednesday...well let's try something different. The poll tonight is predicting the spread in the Cavs game, and it is a rarity for me: a public poll. After that game those correctly predicting the result will recieve PMs, and any who choose to respond can pick a topic or Pretty Person (of either sex) to be included in the theme after the Boston blowout. See, we are interactive around here.
Salmons ( B ) -- nobody really for him to defend on Toronto, so not much impact that end. Did not shoot often in the first half, but when he did they were mostly nifty one on one moves for scores. Moon is a scrappy garbage type player/defender, but he's 6'10" and John just blew by him at will and helped us keep it close down the stretch fo the second quarter. Had a few more nifty one on one moves left in the third, but also came up short on a three and never any consistent push. Began to get hero complex as the 4th wore on, and was beginning to do a lot of the one on one forcing. But as the only other guy really doing anything out there was Cisco, you figure, what the hell could it hurt. Not really a 21pt 7reb game while it mattered though, and the grade reflects that.
Jennifer Rubin -- missing her shirt. Had some trouble finding a good pic of her where she wasnt missing even more. This former Ford model (she was the original Calvin Klein Obsession model) made the jump into acting in the late 80s, debuting in the third Nightmare on Elm Street (interestingly Patricia Arquette's debuting vehicle too) before settling into a long career as a B-movie lead actress throughout the 90s.
Thompson ( C+ ) -- on and off game where Jason looked great at times, indifferent at others, and in the end got considerably outperformed by one of the softest bigs in the league (Bargnani). Started off going back and forth with Il Mago" (believe it or not Bargnani has a nickname of "the Magician" in Italy), but after Jermaine O'Neal came in and immediately scored over him, we went right to Hawes. Had most of his numbers by half as things dried up for him, and us, after the break. Once he had to go against the more competitive defenders like Bosh and O'Neal things got harder for him in there. Still lacks nifty on his moves and guys sit on them. Did get a nice block over Boshs back to stop a sure layup in third however, and was able to work inside more freely again once Bargnani was back on him (we were getting good penetration to draw Bargnani off him too) including a nifty up and under spinnign layup. On defense had problems finding Bargs when he floated out to the variety of perimeter locations he favors and got in foul trouble trying to guard Bosh in the third. After a good start, finsihed wiht a disappointing 12pt 6reb game in 35 minutes while Bargnani went for 24 and 7, Bosh 31 and 8, and O'Neal 11 and 10 off the bench.
Rebecca DeMornay -- parlayed a famous role as Tom Cruise's dream hooker into 80's hottiedom and a film career mostly consisting of B-grade skin flicks (which did not hurt the hottiedom mind you).
Miller ( C ) -- seemed to be doing a decent job keeping Bosh away from the hoop in the early going, but Bosh was spalshing in his little jumpers at will (the finesse game being one reason why Bosh is great, but second tier). Brad responded in kind for a while, missing his first jumper to open the game, but then hitting the next three. But while Bosh and Bargnani continued to just shoot jumpers over him after half (an odd but effective response to Brad's lack of inside presence since he could not guard them out there either), Brad tailed off. Another thing that tailed off was Bard's rebounding. At half neither he nor Bosh were doing much. But Brad's weak 3 rebs at half turned into a pathetic 3 for the whole game after he was shutout after the break (and yes, we got crunched on the glass yet again). In fact our "center" had almost as many three point shots (2) as boards (3). Please don't let Jerry fool you -- that is not a good thing.
Gabriella Sabatini -- before there was Kournikova (or any of the tennis hotties to follow) there was Sabatini. And Gabby actually could play her sport a little too between the magazine shoots, reaching as high as #3 in the rankings, winning a U.S. Open, and reaching the finals in Wimbledon.
Martin ( D- ) -- well this...sucked. Only reason I am holding up this grade at all was that it seemed like there was actually something there at the start. Spalshed in two early threes as the Raptors seemed to be taking a page out of our book on defending the three point line (we had 6 in the first quarter), and looked better than he did last night in Milwaulkee. Still drawing a lot of attention and traveling calls with sloppy dribbling and feet shuffling though. Looks like the refs are watching that pretty closely on him, so hes going to have to make an adjustemnt here. Had an ok 10pt first half going, and no Michael Redd type players to worry about on Toronto. And then just completely went AWOL on us in the third as things slipped away for us. Just completely fell apart, think he shot something like 1-8 in the half on his way to a 4-15 12pt evening. Was not involved, and when he was involved it was ugly. Racked up huge minutes because...well, its Natt. But in no way deserved them. Do not know whether his legs or his heart went here, but something went badly awry as we fell apart.
Deepika Padukone -- meet Bollywood newcomer Deepi...well, lets just call her Dee shall we? Born in Denmark, raised in India. At some point one of these Bollywood actresses has to make the jump across the pond to Hollywood, and looking at her I would have to say I would not mind at all if it was Dee who pulled it off.
