Alrighty then, 0-4 on the roadtrip it is.

10-35. Playoffs now even mathematically out of the question. Will be 10-37 in a few days and in position to seriously threaten the Sacramento era franchise record low for wins. The good news is that when we beat Dallas and Golden State (and how embarrassed must they be at this point) we did eliminate the possibility of us catching the 9-73 '72 (I think it was) Sixers team for worst of all time.

And hey, what are you going to do? Second half collapse. Blowout loss to the second worst team in the East, with the two best teams in the East coming up next...Pretty Girls it is! As I was caught a bit unprepared here, this will be More Pretty Girls Errata.

And as an aside, the blowout on Tuesday will then be 10 Best SFs in Kings History, and the blowout on Wednesday...well let's try something different. The poll tonight is predicting the spread in the Cavs game, and it is a rarity for me: a public poll. After that game those correctly predicting the result will recieve PMs, and any who choose to respond can pick a topic or Pretty Person (of either sex) to be included in the theme after the Boston blowout. See, we are interactive around here.

Salmons ( B ) -- nobody really for him to defend on Toronto, so not much impact that end. Did not shoot often in the first half, but when he did they were mostly nifty one on one moves for scores. Moon is a scrappy garbage type player/defender, but he's 6'10" and John just blew by him at will and helped us keep it close down the stretch fo the second quarter. Had a few more nifty one on one moves left in the third, but also came up short on a three and never any consistent push. Began to get hero complex as the 4th wore on, and was beginning to do a lot of the one on one forcing. But as the only other guy really doing anything out there was Cisco, you figure, what the hell could it hurt. Not really a 21pt 7reb game while it mattered though, and the grade reflects that.
Jennifer-Rubin.jpg

Jennifer Rubin -- missing her shirt. Had some trouble finding a good pic of her where she wasnt missing even more. This former Ford model (she was the original Calvin Klein Obsession model) made the jump into acting in the late 80s, debuting in the third Nightmare on Elm Street (interestingly Patricia Arquette's debuting vehicle too) before settling into a long career as a B-movie lead actress throughout the 90s.

Thompson ( C+ ) -- on and off game where Jason looked great at times, indifferent at others, and in the end got considerably outperformed by one of the softest bigs in the league (Bargnani). Started off going back and forth with Il Mago" (believe it or not Bargnani has a nickname of "the Magician" in Italy), but after Jermaine O'Neal came in and immediately scored over him, we went right to Hawes. Had most of his numbers by half as things dried up for him, and us, after the break. Once he had to go against the more competitive defenders like Bosh and O'Neal things got harder for him in there. Still lacks nifty on his moves and guys sit on them. Did get a nice block over Boshs back to stop a sure layup in third however, and was able to work inside more freely again once Bargnani was back on him (we were getting good penetration to draw Bargnani off him too) including a nifty up and under spinnign layup. On defense had problems finding Bargs when he floated out to the variety of perimeter locations he favors and got in foul trouble trying to guard Bosh in the third. After a good start, finsihed wiht a disappointing 12pt 6reb game in 35 minutes while Bargnani went for 24 and 7, Bosh 31 and 8, and O'Neal 11 and 10 off the bench.
rebeccademornayms0.jpg

Rebecca DeMornay -- parlayed a famous role as Tom Cruise's dream hooker into 80's hottiedom and a film career mostly consisting of B-grade skin flicks (which did not hurt the hottiedom mind you).

Miller ( C ) -- seemed to be doing a decent job keeping Bosh away from the hoop in the early going, but Bosh was spalshing in his little jumpers at will (the finesse game being one reason why Bosh is great, but second tier). Brad responded in kind for a while, missing his first jumper to open the game, but then hitting the next three. But while Bosh and Bargnani continued to just shoot jumpers over him after half (an odd but effective response to Brad's lack of inside presence since he could not guard them out there either), Brad tailed off. Another thing that tailed off was Bard's rebounding. At half neither he nor Bosh were doing much. But Brad's weak 3 rebs at half turned into a pathetic 3 for the whole game after he was shutout after the break (and yes, we got crunched on the glass yet again). In fact our "center" had almost as many three point shots (2) as boards (3). Please don't let Jerry fool you -- that is not a good thing.
photo02.jpg

Gabriella Sabatini -- before there was Kournikova (or any of the tennis hotties to follow) there was Sabatini. And Gabby actually could play her sport a little too between the magazine shoots, reaching as high as #3 in the rankings, winning a U.S. Open, and reaching the finals in Wimbledon.

Martin ( D- ) -- well this...sucked. Only reason I am holding up this grade at all was that it seemed like there was actually something there at the start. Spalshed in two early threes as the Raptors seemed to be taking a page out of our book on defending the three point line (we had 6 in the first quarter), and looked better than he did last night in Milwaulkee. Still drawing a lot of attention and traveling calls with sloppy dribbling and feet shuffling though. Looks like the refs are watching that pretty closely on him, so hes going to have to make an adjustemnt here. Had an ok 10pt first half going, and no Michael Redd type players to worry about on Toronto. And then just completely went AWOL on us in the third as things slipped away for us. Just completely fell apart, think he shot something like 1-8 in the half on his way to a 4-15 12pt evening. Was not involved, and when he was involved it was ugly. Racked up huge minutes because...well, its Natt. But in no way deserved them. Do not know whether his legs or his heart went here, but something went badly awry as we fell apart.
deepika.jpg

Deepika Padukone -- meet Bollywood newcomer Deepi...well, lets just call her Dee shall we? Born in Denmark, raised in India. At some point one of these Bollywood actresses has to make the jump across the pond to Hollywood, and looking at her I would have to say I would not mind at all if it was Dee who pulled it off.

Udrih ( C- ) -- well, the good news is Natt has finally learned to let his starting PG get enough minutes to play himself into a rhythm. the bad news is that Natt has finally learned to let his starting PG get enough minutes to play us into the ground. Beno got off to quiet start to this one, but the minutes still came. When he returned in the late 2nd was having a rough time of it -- the Toronto defense was picking up and he was repeatedly cut off inside. But he still was getting his minutes. As we were slipping in the third, he was stil getting his minutes. And in the fourth, when he contributed a key dribble into traffic turnover after we had made a good defensive hustle play, he was still getting his minutes. Enough at least that he should have done SOMETHING out there. Calderon is a good offensive PG, but hes rarely trotted out as a defensive paragon. Young Roko Ukic certainly isn't, and the rest of the time the raptors went without a PG and had scary combinations of Jason Kapono and Anthony Parker bringing it up. None of this should have scared Beno, but as we have seen over the past year Beno doesn't actually care who he is playing. He is capable of lighting up almost anyone, and capable of doing nothing against almost anyone, and there is no apparent rhyme or reason to it. tonight it was the nothing. the onyl shot he hit were two threes -- the very shot he wasnt able to hit at all all season long until two games ago. Now it was all he was hitting. He notched some assists as we started off the game moving the ball well, but once the Toronto defense tighteened ever so slightly, he wasnt able to break them down. Just a forgettable 6pt 5ast game.' Why? Only the Beno knows.
Mad_n2_862.jpg

Madchen Amick -- blessed with a nose which would be a beauty wart on anybody else, but on Madchen just gives her character, she's added class and sophistication to many a movie and TV show which did not deserve them since she broke into the business in the early 90s.

Cisco ( B+ ) -- bonus points for being someone who actually tried balanced against negative points for being a punk. Got off to the quick start at a time when we still had a little control of the game -- splashed in back to back jumpers in the early second, one of them from three, and then added a tough drive around the Raptors' frontline. Scooped up several loose balls as well in the second. Got matched on Bargnani as Natt went..dum dum dum...smallball in the third. Took it right at him on one side. Unfortunately getting it taken right at him the other way. Missed back to back wide open corner threes as the Toronto lead began to stretch, but attempted to make up for it with a cheap push in the back on Bargnani after a foul, leading to a technical and some tough guy grimaces. Because as everybody knows only a tough guy attacks that rugged he-man Andrea Bargnani. From behind. Was maybe the only guy other than Salmons still playing in the 4th and I think was made generally grumpy by the whole situation. Gave us all of 1 rebound again, and methinks should focus some of that excess tough guyness into something that could actually help the team, like grabbing a rebound.
Shannyn_Sossamon_Instyle_UK_0826-1.jpg

Shannyn Sossamon -- I don't actually know that much about Shannyn to tell you the truth. Know she can be cute and kind of soulful. Know she has her fans. Saw her for the first time in a (bad) movie last year, in which she spent the entire thing screaming rather annoyingly. And until I started prepping this actually thought maybe she was French (in many of her other photos she has a short haired heroin-chic thing going). Turns out she's actually Hawaiian. Live and learn.

Hawes ( B- ) -- short rough stretch at the end of the first/early second quarters where O'Neal beat him on defense, he threw up a quick airball, and he got into foul trouble before being replaced by Mikki. Some activity down the stretch of the third after being reinserted, but not always effective. Had an athletic offensive redbound, but then missed the follow, then the follow of the follow. Got an athletic block as well trying to protect the hoop as our only big while the Raptors flirted with putting the game away. Lousy shooting and could not find anyhing to do but chuck a three, but there was some activity and effort here this time.
val1.jpg

Valeria Golino -- speakng of quirky noses (the Madchen pick reminded me Ms. Golino), this Italian beauty seemed to have a relatively brief reign in Hollywood, most notably as the hottie from the Hot Shots movies, before presumably disappearing back over the ocean. In her sojourn in America though she displayed some seriously strange tastes in men, once actually being engaged to Paul Rebuens aka Pee Wee Herman, and then shacking up with Benicio Del Toro for three years. One wonders how much earlier she might have been tagged for one of these threads if she had worked a little harder on her English -- she was the finalist along with Julia Roberts to star in Pretty Woman, but was ultimately rejected because she still had a prominent Italian accent.

Brown ( B ) -- came in to join the three party in the first quarter, and knocked down a two as well. On the other end continued to show more active and aggressive defense than he was in the earlier parts of the season. thoguht he was going to be entirely frozen out after half, but came back for a spell in the early 4th and had no real effect as we briely flirted with making it a game again.
Julie_benz_grande1_19.jpg

Julie Benz -- a popular TV actress who got her break on the very first Buffy episode, she has also been increasingly crossing over into movies of late, popping up as the female lead saved in brain splattering fashion by Rambo just last year, and apparently appearing in a new Punisher movie next year. Its hard to find a still picture which does justice to her enigmatic half smiles.

Moore ( B- ) -- in for an ineffective Hawes in the early second quarter in this one. Seem to remember he may have done a decent job on Bosh last time we played these guys, but started off on O'Neal in this one. Managed to rock his customary 1 foul per 2 minutes ratio before leaving, looking dissatisfied 4 minutes later. Was back for another 4 minute stint in the second half in which he did little. Little to be concerned about either way with this one. Only note would be that apprently the good game Shelden had really didn't mean anything as far as more PT.
robert%20pattinson.jpg

Robert Pattinson -- Haha, but I played this one entirely straight. As I promised before, one guy with every group of girls. And a perfect example of the difficulties in me doing another full Pretty Guys thread -- this guy looks like a moody fop with something nesting on top of his alarmingly large head to me (needless to say Twilight was not aimed at me). But to you ladies (especially younger ladies I am thinking), he is the 13th Sexiest Man of 2008 (according to People). That was exactly the search term I used to make this choice: "13th Sexiest Man." And Bobby turned out to be it. Enjoy.

Jackson ( INC ) -- in his frist brief stint was up at least pretending to harass Calderon fullcourt, although there is limited hope with that tactic obviously. Did little else in short minutes, in either half, and missed all his shots in his 6 minutes of action.
mary-elizabeth-winstead.jpg

Mary Elizabeth Winstead -- the girl next door on the rise, this cutie has been popping up in big movies all over the place, from Tarentino (Deathproof) to the latest Die Hard.

Kevin seemed half asleep at times, I'm surprised Brick gave him a "D". I don't think this is the norm with him, but I was quite dissappointed last night.

I get really impatient watching Thompson and Hawes. It seems that both have the skill and athleticism to play in the NBA but both have a lot to learn about how to use their abilities effectively. Gets thats reason to hope.

Ugh. I got dragged to Twilight because of that oversized noggin.

I like this public poll with a prize to the winners. Nothing like a betting interest to prop up an otherwise meaningless game.

Now if only she could act.;) There are quite a few now attempting to make that leap, but unfortunately I think that divide is too great. Mainly, because the bollywood style of acting is seriously devoid of any realism.
