Glenn
Hall of Famer
He's 22 and playing like he's 22. He's a troubled 22 but I am willing to wait him out.
I 100% believe we should be sniffing a good year. I fully expected a 35 to 40 win season and perhaps a 50/50 season. I don't know what's wrong but when I listen to Smart talk, he just spouts nonsense. If your coach made no sense, how would you play? I mean as a team and not just Boogie although perhaps Boogie is a barometer of how the rest of the team feels/reacts.
I am confused but perhaps this is the time where firing the coach is the answer. It won't happen, I'm sure. That's why my comments on the Maloofs. They don't seem to care and how can we expect anyone else to care?
I think a focused Boogie playing at a higher level would help but we have a Reke playing at a level I suspect no one believed he could play at. Makes no difference in the w/l column.
To the serious basketball players out there: how would your play be affected by an inadequate coach and owners that don't care. I don't know as I am not a basketball player. The one comment Smart made (among many) that made my head turn around and green vomit to spew from my mouth was that "there was too much iso ball and he needed to find the right combination of players to solve it." What does that mean? It means nothing to me as I thought coaches coached how they wanted the offense to flow and didn't simply talk about it.
Addition: I think our team is decently skilled but can't prove this by watching what happens on the court. I presume Smart's excuse last year was that he took over in mid season but may people had seen enough already including me. Smart was awful at the beginning and then made a few changes that got me a bit hopeful. That ended in a hurry. How long does it take to know who to play; Fredette or IT? I would like to believe that a predictable rotation would help the players. I also thought a shortened rotation would help but I'm at the point where I don't think that those changes would make a difference WITH THIS COACH. Maybe I should increase my Prozac.
